In the waters right outside Ruth'theran village.

They're swimming around, sort of hard to miss if you have you have graphics turned down.

Well she says SOME people she knows like to eat it while they're alive--not all. Seeing as they look like baby facehuggers from Vash'jir, I can't say I'll feel much sympathy. Half the night elf population will probably be under their control by the end of the week.

Anyway, I was fishing for these for 15 minutes until I got fed up and looked up the comments. Turns out they're swimming around and you have to loot them underwater, but they're tiny.

(Edit: The comment I was replying to claimed that the night elves were cruel for eating these things.)

this isn't much of a Fishing daily is it.... You have to actually swim down and gather these little buggers. very cute! :3

For these guys and the crab quest in SW, I use the <SHIFT>v to make their nameplates show, then v to set it to (my) normal. Not as useful as the macro, but OK in a pinch

Go to interface, then names and make sure 'Friendly Units' is checked.
Now the name will be above them. So you can't miss one

Just press "Shift v", then friendly nameplates will appear above their heads. Can spot them from a mile away.

Am I the only one that feels a little ashamed, typing "/tar baby"? I thought that was an offensive phrase.

You don't need a macro for this or any other gather quest, for creatures, just turn on your names for friendly, and click to move, then mouse over and click on creature. you will auto swim to target and pick it up, i do this and the crab quest in under 30 seconds.

if you are not a hunter tracker snake will put them on your map. though you won't need unless there are others doing the quest at the same time as you.

I'm Horde, ran into these guys today and thought "awww, how cute! I wonder if they're just flavor creatures, scuttling about in the sea here?"

Looked it up on Wowhead... Nope, the nature-loving Night Elves are scooping the BABY octopi out of the sea and eating them alive.

i found a lot of them swiming in the waters around the village outside Darnassus. Especially the waters left of the boat (left when you are looking at the boat). these guys are not to fish but to collect.

You have to swim and get them, NOT fish them. EXCELLENT macro by Mr. Macross.

[Have you ever eaten octopus meat? It takes some getting used to, but it's my favorite! I even know some people who like to eat the whole thing while it's alive!

I don't plan on trying that anytime soon, but I am out of fresh octopi at the moment. Will you help me gather some more? They live in the shallow water off the shore near Rut'theran Village.]
