When you loot the mana addled brains they will have the flavour text of "Arcane in the membrane... Arcane in the brain!" From the song "Insane in the Membrane" by Cypress Hill.

When you are looking the mobs which drop these don't go to the tunnel. I visited there before I checked some help from here and there was nothing.

Mobs you are looking for can be found around the hills not far away from quest giver. They look pretty much like ordinary critters (rabbits, light blue foxes) like Ainasni said.

This quest also leads to The Owlbeasts' Defense.

The mobs you have to kill for the brains shift into different beasts when you fight them. Some of the animals I've seen em turn into are:
Lion
Raptor
Flesh Beast
Gorilla

It's just like the game Altered Beast where the hero would be able to power up and eventually turn into a beast.

What a monumentally stupid quest.

You spend 5 minutes waiting for the bodies of the beasts to dissolve (even if you looted everything), then 3 mins waiting for the beasts to spawn.

You can kill all three is less than a minute as a melee, and spend your time standing around. There is nothing you can do to speed things up.

The most you will get is 2 addled brains from the group of beasts, sometimes none. Drop rate is less than 1 in 3.

Skip this quest if at all possible.

I just completed this quest. I thought I would get 'the owlbeast's defense' or some such but the questgiver just has a gray '!' over her head. Glitched? Anyway - if you have a hint I'd love to see it otherwise I'm just going to move on. I really have little patience for WoW's idiotic quest chain process with the advent of Cataclysm.
