Consegui passar esta fase utilizando a tática da Screenshot número 3.
Duas filas de girassóis e 3 de tentáculos.
Plantei 4 girassóis e depois fui alternando entre tentáculos e girassóis.Um tentáculo dá conta de 2 zumbis normais tranquilo.
As abóboras são usadas somente quando aparecer os zumbis grandes.

Depois de 3 tentativas resolvi seguir uma estratégia, até então estava muito fácil e pensei que não seria necessário:
De início coloquei 5 girassóis na 1º fileira para não faltar poder solar e uma planta normal na 3º fileira onde aparecem 2 zumbis na mesma linha, depois disso fui intercalando entre girassóis na 2º fileira até completa- la, plantas normais até completar a 3º fileira, plantas congelantes até completar a 4º fileira e tentáculos na 5º fileira quando apareciam zumbis menores mais fortes. Depois do esquema completo, a derrota é praticamente impossível, é só ir coletando poder solar (que sobra), usar bombóboras nos grandões e substituir eventuais tentáculos caso sejam destruidos.

FYI the screen shot shown is a HUGE hint, and makes it really easy once to get the hang of it. But if you don't like puzzles, read on...

Collect Sunpower by right clicking on them.

Early on, keep the plant Sunflowers on cooldown till you have about 3 made. By then you should be dealing with about 3 Zombies. Rocknut's are your friend (and cheap!), build a few to hold them off.

Next you'll want to plant Spitter's to kill off those 3 Zombies once you have enough Sunpower.

Start planting more Sunflowers, the key to winning is making two full rows of Sunflowers.

Balance making those with a full row of Spitter's and a full row of Freezya's. You should also place a full row of Rocknut's for extra protection.

Then try and stockpile Sunpower for Pumpkin Bombs and Strangler Vines.

The key to this is planting enough sunflowers early on. I planted 3 sunflowers before planting any shooters and by this time there were 2 zombies on the screen - resist the urge to plant any shooters until you have 3 sunflowers!

When the zombies spawn there should be only 2 lanes of them. Plant two shooters, one in each lane the zombies are in, and continue planting sunflowers in the far left two rows. At this point you should continue planting sunflowers while alternating with the shooters and a a total of 2-3 ice shooters and finally walls. From left to right you should have 2 rows of sunflowers, 2 rows of shooters with a total of 2-3 ice shooters, and a row of walls. If you have extra energy you can plant the grabbers in front of the walls or store energy to buy the pumpkin bombs.

You can do without the pumpkin bombs on the first wave, but it doesn't hurt to use them. After the first wave be sure to replant any dead plants and then rebuild your walls if possible.

This setup also is useful for the following quest, but pumpkin bombs are necessary to kill the boss, in my experience.

I've never played the game this quest is based off. But once I did this I have cleared the quests on a couple of characters so far!

Firstly, study the Screenshot! There are 2 rows of Sun Flowers, 1 row of Spitters, 1 row of Freezya's, and 1 row of Rocknut's. After this row of Rocknuts I placed a row of Plant Strangler Vines. And after that I placed a row of Rocknuts, leaving 1 row open for Pumpkin Bombs.

Once the Abominations came out I threw a pumpkin bomb at them, it ate threw my 1st row of rocknuts and my plant strangler vines. It was distracted by some other vines nearby before my 2nd Pumpkin Bomb was ready to blow them up.

If you're wondering how to manage all of this solar power, the trick is the 2 rows of sun flowers. Make it a priority to get 3 sun flowers down at the very beginning. Then place a rocknut on whichever path there are 2 zombies. Then place a spitter on the other path there is 1 zombie.

Then another spitter where the zombies are attacking the rocknut. I was able to start planting more Sun Flowers after this, and once I got 2 rows it was really easy managing sun power. Make sure though that you're alternating between offense+defense, and planting sun flowers. Don't just go all out on the sun flowers or the defense+offense, or you'll wind up falling behind!

This is bugged for me. I've survived two full waves, no zombies left on hte screen at all, but the progress bar is about 2 pixels short of finished.

Not the first time this has happened to me. So damn frustrating.

A tip for everyone that's stuck:

In the very first 'wave' of zombies, find a lane where there is only one zombie and block him with a wall nut (stone). Keep blocking him until you have two lines of sunflowers and your defenses are shaping up, then kill him and spank the rest with endless sunshine. The next wave shouldn't trigger until you kill that zombie, so this buys you a ton of time to prepare.

I was having a huge amount of trouble with this one until someone have me a tip. This is what you need:

2 rows of sunflowers
3 rows of tentacles.

Start planting sunflowers early on, and plant tentacles as needed. Save two rows for all of your sunflowers! Get them up ASAP. One tentacle should have no problem taking down 2 zombies, so don't worry about it. Once all your sunflowers are up, start planting tentacle vines. I ended up with three rows, but you can probably get by with two. With two rows of sunflowers you get so much sunlight that you actually start looking for things to spend it on.

After you have the sunflowers and tentacles up, make sure you have enough sunlight for a pumpkin bomb, and plant rocks as needed. Only use the pumpkin bomb on the big purple guys (and anything bigger than that). The tentacles will take care of anything else. If your pumpkin bomb is on cooldown and you have sunlight to pare, plant a few rocks.

Once I used this strategy this level was very easy. You can use this same strategy on the final level as well. Don't bother with spitters or freezies, just sunflowers and tentacles.

Don't know why these replies about the quest being bugged are being voted down, because the quest is indeed bugged. I've completed it a couple times without having the quest give me a 'Complete' clarification, and I've put in a ticket about it as well.

My current thought about why the quest doesn't allow me to finish is that perhaps if you fail this quest and then don't abandon it afterwards before you pick up the quest again, it could cause the quest to not give you a Complete because it is already in your quest log as having Failed. I'm going to attempt this again tonight and see if it is the case, but right now this is just conjecture on my part. I'll update this post when I know for sure one way or the other.

A couple interesting things I've noticed that are different on this game than it's predecessor is that the Strangler Vines (similar to the PvZ chomper plants) actually will attack undead that are not just in their row, and will attack undead that are to their left or right. The spitters will also sometimes shoot across lanes to undead not in their row as well.

An aggravating part of this is that the Aberrations that spawn will routinely just walk right on past any spitters or freezyas that you have set up. They don't seem to have as much luck getting past rocknuts and strangler vines though.

UPDATE 11-29-10: I've completed this quest and the one following on 3 characters now, and have only had the 'Incomplete Completion' problem on one of them, the first one I attempted this quest with. Once I tried my theory about making sure you abandon the quest after it's failed before picking it up again from the goblin, it completed successfully. I think that the quest still registers you as having failed it if you don't abandon it before starting it again, so be wary of this fact.

As other posters have said, the key here is planting 3 sunflowers as soon as possible, then plant spitters in the rows where the zombies start spawning. Try to plant a total of 10 sunflowers over the course of the initial wave and you'll be all set.

I beat this stage with the recommended strat (two rows of flowers = enough sunlight to do anything you want), but I did have a lot of problems.

Regularly, I would 'beat' the level without getting the message and have to abandon. I don't know why, but in every case I did get that problem, I had used a strangler vine. When I did not, everything went perfectly. I don't have a huge sample size to work with, but just a note for people who run into that one: Try it without stranglers.

This is actually a tougher game than the original Plants Vs. Zombies. The costs of your plants, relative to the amount of sunlight you get, is higher. PvZ sunflowers give you 25 power each, and these only 5. A Cherry Bomb costs 125 solar power (5 blips), but a pumpkin bomb, it's equilivent, costs 40 (8 blips).

Also, zombies SEEM to spawn a little sooner out of the gate here, but that might be perception.

Combined with the previously-mentioned things (Zombies attacking across rows, plants attacking across rows, zombies ignoring some of your plants, the fact that zombies can crit - although they can also miss, so it kinda evens out) makes it a little harder then the original, but not overly so, once you get the hang of it.

Bottom line, to repeat everyone else: Solar power, solar power, solar power! Get those sunflowers up fast. You can't keep up unless you have it.

Thanks Elobelia! This strat was the best by far! I pounded my head against the wall all day to try to get this quest done. I watched videos, read posts here, asked friends and nothing worked. I was always over run. I tried your strat and one-shotted it! I planted a few flowers then the zombies started coming. I got enough solar power to plant a tentacle. Then I planted a few more flowers and rinse and repeat. Occasionally I had to put down a rock when the big guys started coming. But once I got a couple of rows (or more) of the tentacles and 3 rows of flowers it was just a matter of collecting all of the solar power and keeping the tentacles up. I used a pumpkin bomb or two on the A-bombs that came out. I found that the tentacles even grabbed the mini towers that the boss put down on the last level. Worked great!

I can confirm the quest does not complete if you do not abandon the failed quest before retaking it. Make sure to abandon your failed quest, because you will be sad when you finally win it and the quest bugs.

Also, for those as inexperienced with this game as I am, I'll write some tips hoping to help you out - I spent 2 hours on this quest, so yeah. My start was the following:

- 3 sunflowers
- One shooter at the place where the first zombie spawned
- 1 sunflower
- Another shooter at the next row where the second zombie spawned. The third zombie, as far as I could establish, always spawns in the same row as the first, so there's no need for a new shooter for the third.
- Plant 5th shooter
=At this point a bucket ghoul will spawn, I plant a slowing shooter for the first, and will build a wall for the second. Build as many sunflowers in between the spawns. Have 2 rows of sunflowers.

Before the big wave, every row should have at least a shooter, and preferably some walls and freezing shooters. Build shooters/walls/etc where zombies spawn and not at random hoping you're guessing the right row. Make use of those grabbing flowers when the big mobs spawn, they're excellent especially since the big mobs tend to bug and waltz right through all your flowers to eat your brains.

You can use pumpkin bombs, however they're expensive, so use them only when you have 2 rows of sunflowers and when there's more than 2 bucketghouls up and not enough defenses. During the big waves, use them whenever.

Abominations cannot be grabbed by the grab plants, but the grab plants will grab the other big mobs and keep the abominations busy. At the end of this quest, you should have almost all rows and columns built except maybe the last. My typical row looked like this: Sunflower-Sunflower-Shooter-FreezingShooter-Wall-Shooter/Grab Plant (depending on the cooldown - Wall.

Use the same tactic for the follow up quest really. Replant whatever the boss destroys. I found the boss significantly easier than this quest.

The most effective way to do this hassle free is:

Laying down sunflowers is a priority. By the time the first 3 ghouls appear have 4 SF and 1 S.

I strongly recommend laying a FR as the second strongest ghoul appears (instead of a R) as this will be used later on. They can take a few hits before any actual harm.

By the time the first wave hits you ought to aim for

S SF SF FR S

Keep it that way till two large ghouls arrive. You will then have enough sun power for 1 PB.

From there build a barricade of R and use T on the rows that have no, or diminishing R.

After Wave 1. build back to 1) as much as you can. Choose R over S and you should have something messy like:

Maintain this and you'll have enough sun power for PB to kill surrounding ghouls.

By this point 2 massive 'Patchwerks' will appear. Frequently use R and over SP and if you have enough sun power one PB will help.

You'll find that if done as suggested, ghouls will have a hard time getting up to the second S and FP.

By this point your aim is to survive other than kill. The twin Patchwerks will hang around 1 minute or so then you've done the quest!

How to get a lot of sunflower energy.

Step one: Collect energy.
Step two: plant first sunflower.
Step three: more energy.
Step four: Second sunflower.
Step five: Rock the first row of zombies coming, as close to in front of zombie as possible.
Step six: plant sunflower
Step seven: keep collecting energy.
Step eight: Rock the second row of zombies coming.
Step nine Plus: Keep the zombies rocked off until you have two rows of sunflowers (the far left rows)

The next round of zombies will not spawn until the first three zombies are dying. So don't kill them, just block them, until you have the sunflower energy you need. Then kill with a tenticle you'll be planting anyway. I found that i dropped a spitter, and as soon as one of the zombies died, the next round came, so i wouldn't suggest starting the aggressive until TOTALLY ready. I was near ready, so it was okay.

Easier killing.

I used the vines. I placed some vines 2 blocks from the right/entry point. I would put 2-3 rows of vines as the game went on. I would also try to keep the first blocks from the entry point filled with rocks as the cooldown was up and i had energy (i had plenty of energy, it was the cooldown mostly) I also threw in a freezy in each row and spitter in each row, to the right of the sunflowers for good measure. But the vines did most of the work. The VINES are the PRIORITY! Come time for the a'bombs at the end, a few pumpkins (plenty of energy) and they went down smoothly.

Thank you to the above posters for the different ideas. I combined the two and it was pretty dang smoooooth!

To make this very, very easy ...

1) ASAP, start building sunflowers as soon as you can .. you'll eventually fill up the back 2 rows
2) When the first 3 - 4 zombies spawn, put rocks in their path
3) As the rocks get beaten down, build a rock on the same tile as the zombies .. they will turn around and beat on that one too ...

KEY POINT: more zombies will not spawn for a long time (if ever) as long as you don't kill those first few .. keep those zombies distracted with rocks until you're ready to continue with the game

4) Alternate building a rock in front and behind the zombies, while you build up your board ... I like 2 rows sunflowers, 1 row spitters, 1 row freezers, then 1 or 2 rows of rocks and maybe some tanglers to boot
5) Once your board is filled up and you have a healthy start on your sunpower bar, you'll have orbs raining down like mana from heaven and should have no trouble with this quest or the next
6) The last (or close to) thing you place on your board should be the spitters in the two rows that have your starting zombie spawns in them
7) You should now be all set for everything the zombies can throw at you .. good luck!

This is how I did it.

I built 2 sunflowers starting in the back row right off as soon as I could.

Then I would put a block infront of zombies coming in and continue to build more sunflowers.

When zombies destroy a block if your watching it you can drop another block right on top of them and they wont advance any and stop to hit it some more.

Since no more zombies appear until the first few ones are killed I basically built the back 2 rows full of sunflowers, then I built a back row of freeze flowers, 2 rows of spitters infront of them and put vines infront of those and I put blocks up at the very ends of the rows.

I finished this level with 2 full rows of sunflowers in the back. But the key is to not try and destroy the first zombies that appear, just keep them busy with blocks until you have a chance to build up your sunflowers and the other rows. Once your rocking 2 rows of sunflowers its much easier to maintain a supply.

Yes this quest it certainly the hardest of all of them. Here's a sum of the general strategy:

The key is to place a total of 10 Sunflowers (priority) and get the formation before mass waves start. Be prepared to click widly to restore your energy meter, they can drop pretty fast at times.

Layout - From Left to right
Row 1: Sunflowers
Row 2: Sunflowers
Row 3: Spitters
Row4: Freezeya
Row 5: Place Tombstones here when needed and for recovery and in between Sunflowers
Row 6-8: Place vines to strong groups (that are not in mass wave)

Finally (obviouly) use the Pumpkin Bombs for the mass waves

"Congrats! Definatly was easier this time now wasn't it!"

Notes on the Final Boss

The finaly boss is pretty much the same but with a lot less zombies. Just be aware he flings "blight spores" at your Sunflowers that will eventually kill them over time. So be prepared to spend some energy replacing them.

The boss will also spawn "plaguespreader" like obelisks that are the same as your tombstones. Hit these with the Pumpkinbombs and they'll take them out as well as the ghouls that usually spawn at the same time.

This is really easy follow the strategy below to win.

Rules
1. Try to keep 10 sunflowers up most of the time.
2. Rocks are cheap and take a load of damage from small enemies.
3. One spitter usually doesn't do it, it takes two to rip something apart.
4. Never underestimate tentacles or freeze flowers.

Strategy

When the level first starts build sunflowers ASAP build at least 4 before you place a ROCKNUT, yes a rocknut not a spitter to take out the lane with two zombies in it.
After you put the rocknut up make another sunflower and then place a rocknut in the lane with one zombie in it.
So far you should have about 5 sunflowers and 2 rocknuts placed.
You have a good flow of solar power to place another rocknut, but watch the hp of the two other to see if they need to be replaced.
NOW place a couple shooters to kill off the lanes with lots of enemies.
As soon as possible finish off the second row of sunflowers and then establish two rows of shooters followed by a row of freezers and a row of rocknuts.

Finish the level by using bombs on the big abborations and tentacles when you have alot of solar power left.

I just did this, and the pet is awesome, its a great tactic, whats posted below. Get 2 rows of sunflowers, then start building. My set up was 2 rows of spitters, a row of Freezers a row of tentacles, a row of walls, and then chuck down pumpkins when ever needed. The quest after this is pretty much the same, just the guy can destroy your plants easily, but you have a huge store of sunpower so its easy to recover. Just drop pumkin bombs infront of the big guy and he'll slowly die.

ugh i hate this quest. I just get raped by Abberations, no matter what i try. At one point i had no ghouls or zombies spawning, literally JUST ABBERATIONS.

And the fact the Pumpkin Bombs are terribly inaccurate, and the fact dropping one on top of a goddamn abberation doesn't kill it doesn't help.

This is meant to be a fun mini-game blizzard, not some piece of dirt harder than the original game its based on. Atleast there it was difficult becuase of the different types of zombies to counter, not because the engine is a piece of crap.

Finished it this am, 5th of Jan., this one I just got up back 2 rows with sunflowers as quick as u can, add rocknuts as needed to slow zombies at start then I filled middle 3 rows with the freeze spitters and 1 or 2 vines. I did have quest bug once when I tried with first two rows had more vines than rocknuts. I kept up rocknuts on front and spitters, even added a extra sunflower here and there, completed np,
For the warden, I used same approach, just 2 and 1/2 rows of sunflowers then rocknuts on front row with freeze spitters in middle three. The warden roams so when front spot opens near him use pumpkin bombs, I killed warden first try, only used 2 pumpkin bombs total, just kept up my sunflowers and freeze spitters...
good luck and you can't help not to love this companion, makes me smile when she sings :)

i'm experiencing a *!@#ed up bug.... when i'm on Someone Setup the Pumpkin Bomb i survive the first wave, but after that nothing happens when i right click the bloody sunpowers! anyone else experiencing this it's FRUSTRATING AS HELL when you've finished first wave then suddenly you can't do ^&*! because you cant pick up the sunpower

I'm having a similar issue to that which some of the other people are having.

I'm on Someone Setup the Pumpkin Bomb, and get to wave 6 of 7, and no more mobs spawn. I've petitioned a GM a while back, and they said it was an issue they were aware of, and were currently working on, and to try again in a week. That was about two months ago, and I'm still getting the same issue. I've petitioned a GM again about this, and hope to hear back soon.

As of March 10, 2011, there seems to be a bug still. If you fail and have to re-start sometimes the game slows down to the point that you cannot even defend off 2 zombies! But if you log out and back in, that does help which is why I fear it is still not functioning properly.

While the placement others mentioned was great, they didn't bother mentioning timings and such, so here's a bit more info.

One spitter can take down two zombies coming at it, if you place it soon enough.
You need two spitters to take down one ghoul, or the ghoul will kill the spitter.
Rocknuts are great to slow down undead but in the beginning where you're still setting up defenses, spitters are better as they'll take down the undead before they reach the plant.

Start off by placing two sunflowers as soon as you can. Place a single spitter in the third or fourth row when a zombie spawns. Fill in a second spitter if there are three or more zombies, or if there is a ghoul. Once you have two spitters in a row, place a freezer in front of the two spitters (in row 5).

Once you have two rows of sunflowers (1 & 2), two rows of spitters (3 & 4), and a row of freezers (5), place stranglers in row 6 and rocknuts in the remaining spaces as needed. Once this is all set up, use pumpkin bombs on cooldown to do maximum damage. You'll have more sun power than you can use, but keep your field clean so you can tell if/when undead break through a line. If they do, bomb them and then replace the dead plants as needed.

For me, the best tactic after failing like ... 8 times or more was to keep sunflowers up untill i had 2 rows and meanwile stoning the zombies. after, just a tentacle to kill the zombies and stones again. after i had 3 rows of sunflowers i started building tentacles and keeping stones everytime i thought i was in trouble. :)

You will need:
2 rows of Sunflowers (at the back)
2 (or 3!) rows of Tentacles.

Then you can go spending all your energy on the BOMBS and maybe 1 or 2 Splitters and Freezers.
You might renew some of the defence if they are being destroyed.

This actuallt helped me all the way to the end of the questline!

not cuz it's not fun but it just takes forever
specially when the quest bugs at the end & you have to start all over again
i had to make an effort to pull it together & just start all over again
it took me more than an hour i think to get this companion it's sick :D

How buggy can you get?
Blizzard should try and actually TEST the quests.
This has bugged out for me 4 times in a row.

This is a leeengthy quest, and the last thing you need is a bugged up piece of coding mayhem.
Come on Blizzard you can du better than this... GET IT FIXED!

This one was probably the hardest one in the chain (yes, harder than the boss). Try 1.5 columns of sunflowers followed by some freezers. Remember to save your sun for the huge waves. Took me 2 tries, I found that the key was to have enough sun. PLANT MORE SUNFLOWERS!

Still bugged - 9/11/11. I failed the first time and picked up the quest again without abandoning it first. I survived but never got the quest completion. Then I read the comments here and abandoned the quest, and then picked it up again. Then it completed correctly.

I got stuck on this quest at first until I came across a few posts in here and decided to follow them. I wound up starting off with like 3 sunflowers by the time the first few zombies popped, after that I put up wall nuts in front and behind them to occupy them, from there I was able to plant up to two rows of sunflowers.
After that I did a row of spitters, in front of that the freezyas then by then I was collecting crazy sunpower so I was able to put up a row of the vines, and a row of nuts.
Then just drop pumpkin bombs when needed, and replace plants. There were a couple times where the big guys got through but I'd just drop a vine nearby and watch it get whipped around in the air and giggle.

I was frustrated with this quest early on, but finally got the hang of what to do and it's no longer difficult.

Here's my strategy, pretty much explained above, but here's how you get it started. Create two sunflowers in the back row, and then a Spitter on the fourth row up, on whatever trail the first zombie is heading down. Create another sunflower and then another Spitter on the second trail zombies are approaching.

Go back and forth between sunflowers and Spitters, and when you have a lull or extra power, start a row of Freezya's behind the Spitters on the trail the zombies are coming down. If you see a lot of zombies (or bigger ones) approaching any row, throw down a Rocknut in front of the plants.

By now you have have a great defense line, which can take care of these massive waves, and you have plenty of solar power to create even an extra row of Spitters and rocknuts when you need them. Then sit back and twiddle your thumbs and toss pumpkins at the bigger zombies.

This quest was bugged last night, and a GM told me that using the vine things might bug out the quest. They cost too much, and are pretty unnecessary.

Quest is bugged for me too, and I refuse doing it again, as it was a pain. Waiting for my ticket to be answered. I don't understand why they don't fix things like these.

For the final two stages of this the best route to go is to use the strangler vines. I will refer to the 5 squares that run vertical as columns and the 8 squares that run horizontal as rows, just like on a spreadsheet. Row 1 Column 1 will refer to the bottom left square.

Ok so now that you know what you're going to place in the required squares i will go through the steps you will need to do as the fight progresses.

First thing you are going to want to get down is 3 sunflowers so you can start building up Sun power faster. Heres the order i used to place my pieces on the field.

Place your 1st sunflower in row 1 column 1.

Place your 2nd sunflower in row 2 column 1.

Place your 3rd sunflower in row 3 column 1. By the time you have this one placed you'll probably have 3 zombies up. Time to start laying defenses.

Depending on what row the zombies are traveling down will determine where you will drop your first strangler vine. If the zombie is headed down row 5 then drop your strangler vine in row 5. As stated it will all depend on where the zombie is travelling down.

Build up another 30 sun power and place your second strangler vine in whichever other row has a zombie in it. If you have more than two row with zombies in it don't freak out they move slow enough you will be fine. Also if you have zombies coming down 2 rows side by side, say rows 3 and 4, if you place a vine in 3 it will take care of both rows for you. Also if you have zombies in two rows divided by another you can place a vine in the middle row and it will take care of the 3 rows for you.

So now you have 3 sunflowers and 2 vines up. Continue placing more sunflowers and vines in the rows and columns listed above as needed, making sure that your priority is to make sure you get all 10 sunflowers laid down as soon as possible. Just do not let the incoming zombies overwhelm the defensive forces you have placed. If you need to, drop a rock to slow them down while you're waiting on sun power to lay more defenses.

Once you have all 10 sunflowers and 10 strangler vines placed if you have the extra sun power in column 3 you can start placing the spitter plants which give you just a little more dps.

As the fight progresses you will have to replant sunflowers and vines and spitters but with the 10 sunflowers you should have more than enough sun power to keep up.

As of 2:30pm on Ravencrest, a Game Master says their IS a glitch in this quest line and has been for months. He had no idea when this would be fixed. Also, he said it was game-wide, not just limited to Ravencrest.

Planted three sunflowers at first, when the first little zombies start moving down two rows, plant spitters in front of them, this'll take care of them. Then the slightly bigger guys start appearing, I used bricks in front of them to slow them down. From then on, try to build up two rows of sunflowers at the start, have a few rows of vines, lay pumpkins where the real big guys are. Vines seemed to work better than having big rows of flowers, as I saw in some videos, and I had no trouble with bugs.

May take a few tries but you'll get it once you have the idea. The next quest I did find a bit easier, just build up your rows in advance, so you don't get overwhelmed by the mobs and you have enough solar power, when the boss appears keep putting pumpkins by him until you take him down.

I'm trying to put this in simplified language, sometimes we can overthink things like this, sorry if it's over simplified but that's how I completed it. By keeping the sunflowers and vines up and laying pumpkins when I could on the big guys.

It's been mentioned further down but want to reiterate that this is the easiest way of completing the quest:

Work on getting two rows of sunflowers. The first zombies will turn up as you're doing this but let them get half way down the field and by then you will have enough solar power to build a your first two vines which will take care of them. Once you've got your two rows of sunflowers just keep building vines; ignore the spitters, freezers and rocks as they are useless. You will get lots of power, the vines last ages and then use the pumpkins for the big guys and the waves. I ended up with three rows of vines and had enough power for lots of pumpkins.

I tried many tactics here including those 50+ rated ... zombies of this quest just tear me apart anyway. Then found some lower rated comments about vines... this is madness =P

After modding strat a bit i found it REALY easy, for both quest 4 and 5.
1. 3 sun flowers
2. vines on paths 2 and 4 (prefferably row 6 or 5) .. this way you got all paths covered (zombies and vines attack to sides too)
3. Finish 1st row of flower .. up to 5
4. Keep vines on CD finishing the row, planting more sunflowers meantime
5. Keep planting those two aiming for 3 rows of sunflowers and 2 rows of vines

If you keep using only those 2 you sloughter zombies. When setup above is complete you might plant some shooters on row 4 and just spam bombs.

Only problem might be some realy unlucky waves.. after you got first vines and row of sunflowers the rest is formality.

After many try... I decide to go on youtube to check how people do this... -BEAUTIFUL- quest! I was stuck at this quest....

**I've protected all my line the best i can till 60% where big add spawn and i was losing everytime one or two line. Then 1/2 ... Just protect those lines VERY well till the end of the event. You dont need to protect to other (Well yes, but not SO hard)

AND the final quest is easy... One shot!

did this by following the general idea of trying to get 10 sunflowers in first two rows, then 2 rows of spitters and 1 row of freezyas in front (you will only be able to get 1 or 2 freezyas onto the board). tentacle strat didn't work for me due to tentacles not grabbing zombies reliably and tanking their damage instead until they die (didn't even make it far into massive wave 2 doing this)

2 spitters will be able to easily kill the bigger ghouls, 1 spitter in column 3 will do fine if there are no follower ghouls
2 spitters + 1 freezya + 1 rocknut will be able to handle 1 aberration and most of the follower ghouls
use bombs in the inside rows to clear aberrations and ghouls on adjacent rows too
use 1 bomb to damage the abominations, 2 bombs will kill them but it's not necessary. stop them with rocknuts
use bombs early into massive waves to be able to get them off cooldown sooner and be able to get 1 or 2 more uses during a wave

if you are getting overrun by aberrations just be more greedy with sunflowers. get 3 sunflowers, a spitter, another sunflower, then react to waves by placing some spitters in the third column and start being greedy with more sunflowers. dont need freezyas until you have 2 columns full of spitters. bombs > freeyas but you should have at least 1 or 2 of them to buy yourself time to use walls/bombs

if you don't have 10 sunflowers, 10 spitters and at least 1 freezya by the time the aberrations are coming you weren't greedy enough or unlucky with lane RNG

also dont rely on minecarts, they are bugged sometimes and zombies will just walk past and you'll lose the round. you don't need them to complete this quest either way
