I was able to easily solo this as a non-BM hunter. I used a tenacity pet (bear), kept Mend Pet up on him and just tank-and-spanked. Does not appear to hit very hard as I never concerned that the pet was about to die.

(Yeah, yeah, no one wants to hear you solo'd it. Just pointing out to fellow hunters that this can be done without a group)

Currently this quest is bugged. It works but if you have Path of Frost and Water Walking on you at the same time you will be DC every time until one of effects is wore off.

It is possible to solo the shark tank as a combat rogue at 85.

I blew Combat Readiness, Lifeblood, and kept up Recuperate, with Adrenaline Rush right at the start paving the way to a Deep Insight-Killing Spree. After Combat Readiness ran out I chained a Blind and Bandaged myself for four ticks before using Evasion to finish him off.

Finished off with 20% HP left. About 21k HP. That's about 2 and a half more hits from him.

He crits Reinforced Leather for 10k. Thereabouts.

Soloed With Fury warrior 85
i charged and used retaliation hit him whit heroic strike and colossus smash
changed to berserker stance used death wish recklesness trinkets and nuked hard as i could and when my hp was going low used Enraged regeneration allmost in the beginning of the fight after he hit my hp to half cus he hit pretty hard.
also i had well fed 90 str+stamina and 180atk power flask

He is now immune to roots and hibernate.

Solo'd this as an 85 elemental shaman as well. Used heroism from the start, along with stoneclaw to absorb a decent amount of his damage (if you have glyph). He hits hard and i almost went oom and died before I got him down.

Soloed as a il352 fire mage, just pop hero + mirror images and burn him down. If he's still alive by the end of images, just swim around scorching. At the end of my images, he was at about 80k, which was enough for me to sacrifice around 50% of my hp bar to finish scorching.

Soloed as fury warrior in ilvl 346, just pop all cooldowns and burn it. Pulled 16k dps and ended with around 25k HP.

This daily quest has better rewards than the other Tol Barad Peninsula dailies.

It awards 2 Tol Barad Commendations and 350 reputation, whereas all the other daily quests in the area only reward 1 Commendation and 250 reputation.

Can easily be soloed by a shadow priest too. I don't think you can kill the normal way, but here is how I did it:

Use aswell Levitar as Fogo Interior. Stand where you can barely reach him with your spells. DoT him up with Toque Vampírico, and immediately use Palavra Sombria: Dor and Peste Devoradora. Then use Vontade Interior and run, run, run in circles. Keep up Levitar and your DoTs, and he's gone.
It will take a bit, but you will run at the same speed as he swims. Just remember to refresh your DoTs, especially Peste Devoradora, in case gets the brilliant idea to evade back to his starting point.

Dont forget, you dont even have to be in a group. If you do damage to him, you will achieve the quest as well when he dies. I tried it when an opposite faction did damage to him first. Just in case you dont find a group.

Could you possibly kite him to a "shore" and range fight him where he can't hit you melee?

edit: I got the quest from the NPC last tuesday...

I can also confirm that this quest didn't open for me until I got exalted with Baradin's Wardens.

What a difference gear makes...solo on Lvl 85 Arms warrior.

Caveat: As per standard, applied Rend then Thunderclap-aggroed one of the Tidecrawlers, which proved useful for Victory Rush, was in the double digits of health when done, but.....

I tried this two months ago, with predictable results.

Still trying to solo "Problim"...need a tidecrawler to leech health from. XD

Solo'd as feral druid, ilvl 308. Opened with Wrath to get his attention, popped into bear form, hit Enrage then basically just stood in front of him whilst going through my rotation (Faerie Fire, Thrash, Mangle, Lacerate, Swipe). I didn't drop below 80% hp then entire fight.

Unlike all the cata quests, this mob being an elite quest mob doesn'tm ean he will hit light or that you will get NPC assistance. It's a legitimate group quest that isn't marked in game as such. He will hit hard.
