For those of you who didn't read the quest text, you need to slay 3 elementals that are under beams of light(red for fire, etc) around the camp, then fight Haethen Kaul

He's on a floating platform just above the quest mark in your map (skull).

Quest orbs floating around plus shadow orbs make your shadowpriest look like Christmas tree. Jingle bells, jingle bells...

Would've been fun if you could keep the 3 pretty colored orbs when zoning out of Deepholm (since they have no expiration timer), and never complete this quest. Something like Dartol's Rod of Transformation way back when... But you can't :(

if you have trouble finding him, hes on a floating rock. Fly up and look around, don't make the same mistake as me in looking on the floor for him.

If you're like me and went off and did other quests and came back to this then the quest can be confusing. Simply kill the following mobs:

Once you defeat them you will get the following buffs:

When you have these buff simply go fight Haethen Kaul he should be no problem even as a elite with the buffs on. He is on a floating platform and yells the following:

You will be destroyed!
You're immune to my water spell! How can this be?
What? You're immune to my air magic?
My firebolt is useless! No matter you smug little insect. I will still destroy you!
We have labored long and hard for our lord Deathwing. Let us give our all in his name that we will bask in his flames at the end of days!
Unimaginable power courses through me to the Waygate! Muahahahahahaha!

Do this quest chain before you complete the quests that allow you to restore the pillar at the Temple of Earth (after the stone mother quests). I did not and as a result the NPC disappeared with the phasing that showed the pillar complete and maruut dead.

XP and time down the drain...

EDIT: I flew to Therazane's throne and took the portal there to the temple of earth and the NPC's are back. I turned in the quests and hope this helped any of you who thought you were screwed like me.

no offence but as sub rogue you can shadow-jump him up there and take him down easy, he comes to you once you done that
if any melee are having problems I suggest attacking him as you flying dismount

don't hate me for calling it shadow-jump :P

You cannot keep the wards, alas. They disappear when you leave Deepholm.

On your return they will still be gone, but it suffices to kill one of the elementals to restore all three wards.

These orbs instantly reminded me of the 'Nul' white magic spells from FFX. They look almost identical.

The orbs that circle you once you kill the elementals for this quest remind me a lot of the charges you build up playing as the Assassin in Diablo 2. Looks to me like 1 charge of Fists of Fire, 1 charge of Blades of Ice and 1 of Claws of Thunder.

If you kill Haethen Kaul if he hasn't completed his conversation, it will not count towards the quest.

As a level 85 i didn't know this at first and just killed him in like 3 sec and had to wait for him to spawn again...

It's a pain for melee.. Attack him on the way down from being mounted and then run away so he'll come down. Otherwise he just hangs around up there and there's nothing you can do except shoot him/throw knives at him.

Quick tip: engaging this guy does not tag him, turning him nameplate grey. So you don't have to wait for respawn. Achieved credit for kill today even after he was at half-health fighting a human pally, I'm undead rogue.

Descrição

[Did you hear the man going on with his incessant yelling while you were up there? That's Haethen Kaul, their leader.

It's a well known fact that he's gone insane from the power he's drawing from their bound elementals. Unfortunately, it makes him nigh invincible.

If you're to fight him, you'll first have to kill each of the elementals, gaining their wards in the process. That should protect you from Haethen's magic.

Well, most of it anyway.]
