If you're melee, run far away from him and he will come down so you can hit him.

In case you are just flying through and can't figure out "what elementals? where?", there's a platform a little lower than this guy, the elementals are there, inside the big thingies.

There are 3 pillars of light in the Twilight camp nearby. Go to each and kill the elemental mob to get your elemental buff's. When you fight the Haethen you should have 3 globes of "fire, air, and water" circling you like the shammy buff.

Some classes should beable to solo Haethen Kaul with out the elemental buffs. I did this by accident as I didn't read that the elementals will make you immune to his spells. I did this as a 83 protection warrior with 81k health. I just interupted him as much as possible with shield bash and heroic throw and reflected when possible. I had 43k health at the end of the fight. His spells do hit hard I think one hit me for 16k. When he was dying at the end he yelled somthing about being immune to spells and thats when I went back and actually read the quest text and realized that you were suppose to kill the elementals for the buffs.

After you get your 3 elemental orbs, Haethen Kaul is up on a floating rock where it shows on the map. So don't spend a half hour looking for him on the ground.

Would've been fun if you could keep the 3 pretty colored orbs when zoning out of Deepholm (since they have no expiration timer), and never complete this quest. Something like Dartol's Rod of Transformation way back when... But you can't :(

First, kill each of three elementals that spawn in the main platform of the Master's Gate area. You will get a spinning orb buff (fire, water, and air). You can find each elemental in what look like lighted columnar teleporter platforms. You can't miss them.

Once that's done, look up, as other comments have said. You'll find Haethen Kaul on a small floating rock above the North/Northwest ridge of the plateau.

I've turned in this quest and can't seem to get any more, except the "It's not a pyramid" one that leads to Uldum. I have definitely not done all of the quests in the zone (I've completed 40 something quests in Deepholm), but flying around doesn't find me any more exclamation marks. I'm missing a breadcrumb or something, but where?

Just a little fun info: the Priests' Shadowform affects the orbs that circles you. They 'enter' Shadowform too :)

You have to collect the 3 wards first by killing the elementals representing those 3 elements. Once an elemental is killed you acquire the ward. They're easy to find. With all 3 wards you are ready to attack Kaul, they'll protect you. Kaul appears not to leave his circle so you can get him with ranged attacks.

( Kaul is up on a chunk of rock higher than the area where you acquired the wards.)

If you're a hunter, dismiss your pet, otherwise Kaul will have him for lunch. Even without your pet you can kill Kaul with ranged attacks.

yeah lol i soloed him without the elemental buffs as a level 83 retribution paladin and had 9k left i felt kinda strong afterwards finding that i was supposed to get the buffs to make his damage weaker

Too bad it's a water ward you need, rather than earth. Then Blizzard could have just called this quest "Earth, Wind, and Fire".

I sure soloed it easyly without buff ,and im only a DK lvl 85 and 14 K dps .

Had a problem turning this in, having just completed the restoration of the world pillar and Therazane was hanging around still. When I went to turn this quest in, there were no NPCs where the quest marker was. Accepted and turned in The Stone Throne from Therazane, and she moved out, and Prospector Brewer was back.

I did not read the quest text and ran into Haethen Kaul as the first objective. Soloed easily as a newly 85 shadow priest in quest blues and greens (no boas). I was surprised when his first bolt made it all the way through my shield on the first shot, but I did not have to shift out and heal at all; I just kept chugging away and he was quickly dead.

Just a quick note, i noticed no-one had mentioned it earlier. If you are a class that uses pet, like me (destr. warlock), don't make the same mistake i did and think that "na, my pets got it, easy!" Well, it doesn't. 25k damage on my voidwalker made quick work of him, so.

Edit: And don't make the OTHER mistake i did, and stay on the platform to post a comment on wowhead ^^

For hunters - after you get the buffs from the elementals, you can camouflage, and they turn into a grey square.

He did not eat my pet for lunch - my cat was simply not able to target him, and was ignored. Don't know about pets with ranged attacks, if that would draw him. Kept spirit cat out for healing abilities in case I got low.

Info about hunters being able to kill him solo with ranged attacks is correct. Didn't even need the heal. His earth attacks are less than 1000 each time. I'm only 84 and he barely scratched me.

[Did ye hear the blatherin' idiot while ye were up there? That's none other than Haethen Kaul, their leader.

The man's gone daft with power. He's pullin' it straight from them bound elementals, makin' him nigh invincible.

The only thing I can think of to get ye into proper shape fer a fight with him is fer ye to first kill all o' them elementals, gettin' their wards. That should protect ye from Haethen's spells.

Well, most o' them anyway.]
