For those that can't get the turtle to inspect: there seems to be a bug with either companions, or minions/pets that bugs this quest.

To fix it, I dismissed all minions/pets, as well as any companions, before I got the turtle, and kept them away until the inspect was complete. This allowed me to get it at the first try.

turtle was bugged for me, couldnt complete the quest no matter what i tried.

and being the first part of a chain screwed me out of some hyjal quests.

I noticed that many people tried to retrieve the crystal from the giant turtle, Nemesis. That's wrong, there are giant crystals on the left if you head to Nemesis. Those are the crystals you're looking for.

66,57 is the location of the red cristal for those with cords, it's not the place marked on blizzard quest map, good luck

I finally got it done. I had to abandon it twice, but, if you're a druid and struggling, this may help. I'm questing as feral, so I abandoned the quest again, re-accepted it, but before I did so, I went OUT of cat form.
I accepted the quest and stayed non-animal the entire time.
It worked perfectly.

Dunno what's up with that quest being so picky, but if that's what it takes, then, whatever, I guess.

I have dismissed 3 times the damn turtle, and it didnt work. You have to go to the quest giver and ask him to give you back another turtle until you get the "turtle-power" buff, then just get close to one of the crystals and it will be done (crystals near 65,58) to the left.

Lessee. The 'Child of Tortolla' is a child, so it could be argued that they are Teenage. In turtle years.
They're not your normal turtle, being related to an ancient, so one could call them Mutant.
When you fight one of the nearby enemies, they will go and get behind them and attack them from behind, kinda like a Ninja.
Boy, don't you love Turtles?

(And don't forget, these Heroes in a halfshell give you the Poder de Tartaruga! buff when they're with you. ^_^)

I'm a mage. A pally had put a blessing of might buff on me and I had to dismiss it to keep the "Turtle-Power!" buff on me given by the quest giver, Garunda Mountainpeak.
Check your buffs and dismiss any if you are unable to keep the "Turtle-Power!" buff.

For people having trouble on this quest the trick isn't dismissing your pet or abandoning and picking up the quest again. The glitch seems to be with the turtle companion itself and the game not recognizing that you actually have the companion. In order to finish this quest you must have the Turtle Power buff. If you see that you do not have this buff (as indicated by the turtle head in the buff area) talk with Mountainpeak again and tell him you need another companion. Do this as often as you need to get the buff and the companion, as I have noticed that sometimes you get a new companion but loose the buff right away. After getting the companion's buff it should be no problem to find on of the crystals and do the quest.

Just finished this quest, and it performed like it should. Turtle worked fine.

I had troubles with my baby turtle dieing, then my hunter tried to use the buff, and died. So, I did the quest with my hunter's pet, Arcturis, and I was able to turn it in without the baby turtle.

As a hunter, I followed the advice of dismissing the pet when on this quest. They seem to null the completion. I had to go back to the q-giver, dismiss pet, drop quest, and re-accept. Then went and completed with no problems. The little turtle acts as a pet for you on the way to and from the crystal, helping with attacks by the baddies. A note: it also verves off and help others in their fights. They've no fear, the little ones.

I didn't have to drop the quest or put pets away. I just left the child turtle to fight while i ran back to start. Then asked for another child. Make sure something is fighting turtle while you run.

To all Shadow Priests having a problem with the turtle too, your shadowy apparitions cause your turtle to bug, just don't use Power Word: Pain and you will be fine.

Lol I had no problem doing the quest I was so pumped about having a turtle companion that I went all the way in Blackfathom Deeps and tamed a green turtle and calll it Koopa and I rember I had a compain pet Speedy I had all three and still had the buff wiht no problems and for the fun of it i killed Nemiss without the totem becuase I was afraid i wasn't ganna get him back in the next quest.

DK Here, All i did was made sure i talked to NPC, and requested the turtle 3times(I lost my turtle) until my buff (turtle power) stayed. Had companion out as well. Worked great.
