You can get the achievement Going Down? for free on this quest, just aim the catapult high up in the air and fire.

The quest name is a reffereance to Paul Reveres Ride where it says "One if by land, Two if by Sea"

No matter where I aim, I don't go anywhere. It goes through the whole launching animation and then despawns and I'm standing in the same spot I started. Am I doing something wrong?

Merum, I have the same problem. I kill the forsaken, get in the catapult, drive it close to the boat, aim for the deck and press the launch button, but after the animation, I'm left standing at the back of the catapult.

OK - all you have to do is find a catapult - if there is a machinist on it kill him jump on catapult aim for the middle of the ship - captains are in the ships hold

dont drive it - its a long distance siege weapon O.o ---

I'm having the exact same issue... when i kill the forsaken it's a one shot kill, i don't know if this means anything. When I aim for the boat, i know the circle showing where i should land is right on the deck, so I don't know why I end up standing behind the catapult... help!

I had this problem. Not only was I stuck standing behind the catapult, but the vehicle bar would not go away until I relogged. I could not use any abilities. The following worked for me:
1. Exit WOW
2. Rename WTF & Cache folders
3. Load up the game, put account info, pick realm.
4. Disable all interface addons
5. Login as previously "bugged" toon
With no interface mods and the WTF & Cache folders renamed, it finally let me be shot at the boat instead of fall out the back of the catapult. Mods I run: Carbonite, CTMod, Recount
6. Exit game.
7. Restore Cache & WTF folders (by deleting the newly generated ones first, then restore the names to the original)
8. Load game and keep playing. :)

I have had the same issue of not being able to launch on the boats. I tried renaming my folders and all, but no luck. I put in a ticket and the GM informed me that they know it's an issue for certain people and it looks like it affects those with latency issues. Makes sense to me since I have satellite internet and battle latency all the time. They are working on it so hopefully we will be able to complete this quest soon and move on in the story.

While not the ideal fix, the catapult issue can be solved by grouping with someone who does not have the issue, then they can kill the captains for you and you should get credit

for those with satellite/high latency and are having problems solving this quest due to the catapult not working (eg. you fire it, it disappears and you're still standing where you fired it from) .. you can take the catapult under the boat and fire it to get onboard.

it's a bit of trick and make a few attempts, but i was able to do it for both boats while waiting for my petition & bug report.

grouping with someone that doesn't have the problem, works as well .. but if you don't know anyone online in the same phase, that can be tricky too. offer the channel 10gp to group, i'm sure they'll ignore you for the most part, or complain that, "it's not that hard."

To get a catapult, you may have to kill the mob sitting on it first. Then you will get an arrow to jump on.

I found that if you use Launch to where you want to go (not the forsaken ships) it will give you a message saying that you need to be aiming at the forsaken ships, but if you then click the leave vehicle button it will launch you to where you were previously aiming :)

The latency issue has been fixed as of 4.0.6 - I was able to use the catapults without a single problem (aside from my aim being stupid) about two weeks ago on my new worgen.

i currently have a high latency problem as of the 4.1 patch where whenever i hit the launch button i automatically disconnect from the game

Captain Anson - Ship on the right, go Down in hold, at the back. Captain Morris - second ship, one on the left - from deck go down to the left, in hold again all the way back. You will encounter Forsaken Sailors on board both ships. Don't hang around, the captains spawn quickly.

[The Forsaken catapults are kicking the snot out of us, <name>. And even if we do take care of them, they've two ships with rows of cannons at the ready.

I've a plan to kill two birds with one stone. You're the stone in this plan.

Take out the machinists manning the catapults. After this, use the catapults to launch yourself aboard the Forsaken ships.

If your aim isn't terrible, you should be able to land safely. Once onboard, go below decks and take care of each ship's captain. Good luck, <class>.]
