For this quest you have to talk to the guy in the oval arena a little more west of your training grounds.
I recommend building your defense stack to 3 before starting. Basically just use break shield and melee and when he runs away (which is often) charge him.

After i failed miserably the first time I say FORGET about "break shield". Forget what you learned as an "aspirant". Because of the shared cooldown with "charge" and the fact that "break shield" is in itself ranged you will get charged well before you will be able to charge yourself. All that while waiting for the damn cooldown to expire. Instead make sure your shield is stacked up x3 at all times and spam melee while close and charge him when he gets at range. This will also remove 1 shield in its stack, and do damage as bonus. Just make sure you turn around fast after each charge and get in melee range with him. The NPC itself rarely does "break shield" and relies on the effect of it's own charge ability. If you don't allow it to charge you it is most likely that you will lose your shield only because of the 1 minute cooldown - if you forget about it :)

Be careful! To complete the quest you must deal the last blow Inside the arena! If you charge, or you try to gain space so you can use charge, and exit the ring then defeat him outside the ring, you will not receive the quest completion

this quest has bugged for me 3 times in a row now :s
and the 2 last tries i have been inside the oval all the time..

Here's a nice way to fight the Valiant (And coming valiants) Mounted.
1: Stack the Shield to Maximum before starting the Combat.
2: Run away from your Opponent when started and begin to spam Shield Breaker
3: Continue with shield breaker until all the Opponent's layers of defense is gone.
4: Make distance before you use Charge, and then quickly the Melee Attack swiftly after hitting with Charge
5: Remove the Opponent's Layer's of Defense again.
6: Repeat No: 4 Several times
7: (Optional): Add Layers of defense on urself during the Combat, but this makes other abs go on Cooldown often.

Just Shield Break Him, and chase him around the place, thrusting. When he gets defend up, back away and shield break, but attack with thrust before he can charge. you should not lose much defend when doing this, but replenish it when you can.

very hard quest when you have 3k ping and random 10 second lag spikes, got him down to 50% health at the beginning then couldn't do a damn thing after that...

Here's an alternate strategy for those for whom Latency is an issue (500ms or worse), as suggested to me by my guildleader. It worked for me on the first try (after many failures at trying a more traditional approach).

1. Apply 3 stacks of shield
2. Talk to the squire to begin
3. Run away from your opponent and Charge him.
4. As you come back around, Shield Break him.
5. If he gets into melee range, go ahead and add a layer to your own shields, and hit him with a melee attack immediately. Add 2 only if you can before he gets a chance to shieldbreak/charge you...but do not let this prevent you from charging before he does.
6. Do not panic about your own health meter, just work on getting him down.
7. Always, always, always charge before he gets a chance to.

The idea is to charge before he can. If your latency is poor, he can often shieldbreak you and charge you in the time it takes you to shieldbreak him (before your cooldown expires and Charge becomes available), robbing you of any opportunity to charge. Also, because he can put shields up faster than you can -- you probably remember the way the charge training dummies would often get their shields back up well before your abilities were even off cooldown, resulting in a failed charge -- the best defense ends up being a good offense....

This is probably not a good strat for those who have no serious issues with Latency, as you can shield about as fast as your opponent and you have time to get your shield break in before charging.

But I hope this helps some who have been having trouble getting past this fight.

I have the Quest to speak to Squire Danny, but after i do, he does not summon an opponent for me.
Yes, I have turned in the 15 seals for the quest prior to this one. I just dont understand what else i need to do.
Yes, I have the lance equip and am mounted.

I tried the above tactics w/o success. I think I over-thought them.

What finally worked for me was a sort-of 'back away while debuffing' shuffle.

I stacked my Defenses, summoned the guy, then began to back away, alternating shield break and thrust. Somewhat surprisingly, this seemed to work. He'd run away often enough for me to renew the def's and then he'd just run back into thrust range. Rinse and repeat...

And if you have high latency and age you may be screwed - apparently this can't be done as a quest - so you are just stuck there.

This is an awful quest particularly if you have any lag. I've attempted it who knows how many times and found it impossible. None of the suggestions below have helped so I'm giving up on it.

For those of you that suck on ice, like I do...

Stack your shield to 3 before you start (obviously). Take two fingers. Put them on keys 1 & 2. Put your other hand on your mouse. Challenge your opponent.

When the fight starts, began rapidly hitting keys 1 & 2 over and over again. Stick to your opponent like glue. Don't give him even an inch to breathe. Follow him everywhere. If you give him any room at all, just make it a few feet to get in the occasional Shield Breaker. When necessary, repair your shield. If he starts to wander too far from the field, just back up a little to lure him back in. Charging is not even necessary.

This probably won't help if you just have latency issues, but if you just suck at jousting it works. I was running around and charging and trying to throw Shield Breakers from halfway across the field like I saw the people who are good at jousting doing and I was losing every fight. When I started sticking to my opponent like glue and spamming Thrust/Shield Breaker, I started winning every fight.

The downside is that it's a bit slow and it'll make your arm ache after a few matches.

When you first start the Argent Tournament and you're practicing on the target dummies, (the Mastery of... quests) the squires you speak to will tell you exactly how to defeat them. Unfortunately many people don't stop long enough to read the text on the screen, they're in such a hurry to "progress" through the content that they miss the content! Oh, the irony...

Anyway, this is how you beat these guys, all the way through champion, Battle before the Citadel, etc. It's basically a tank and spank. You stand still and spam Thrust (1) until he starts trying to get distance on you. When that happens hit Shield Breaker (2) and then Charge (3). Once you're charging and get in melee range again, hit Thrust as your charge brings you into his range for extra damage, then -- as the squire says -- "circle around for more Thrusts." Your charge will carry you well past him, so you want to execute a turn (try the arrow key on your keyboard) to stay in his melee range so he can't charge you. Then get back up in his face again and repeat until he's defeated.

EDIT: If the mob runs away and then immediately changes direction, it's best to follow him and keep smacking him with Thrust (1), as it means he is trying to fake you out. If you stand there in this case, he will usually just Charge you.

Keep Defend (4) up to 3 stacks as best you can. It does NOT share a cooldown with Thrust so you can hit it pretty much whenever you need to.

Never turn your back to the mob or attempt to get range on him; he'll charge you first. You want to make HIM run away so you can charge HIM first.

I had been stuck at this exact point in the quest chain for months until I went through the quests again on an alt, apparently paying more careful attention that time, and surprisingly found that the advice they gave (which I've summarized here) works perfectly, not only on the tournament grounds. I have used this technique to solo the Boneguard Commanders, after clearing the gargoyles overhead and the footmen around him first.

(Do not try this on players! They aren't generally so predictable as mobs.)

EDIT: I should note that jousting is difficult or impossible if you are having latency issues. If I'm at 300ms or more I don't even attempt it; I go kick my roommate off BitTorrent first.

EDIT: For getting Argent Crusade rep there is a series of dailies in Zul'Drak, Slaves to Saronite daily (rescue miners; pick up on the Skybreaker/Orgrim's Hammer), and of course wearing the Argent Crusade tabard while you do heroics.

EDIT: As of Patch 4.0.3, a number of quests in Western Plaguelands and Eastern Plaguelands grant reputation with Argent Crusade. So new low-level players may come to Northrend already friendly or honored with this faction, and high level players can go back and do these quests for easy rep.

Next quest is based on your race "A Valiant Of X", where X is your race home city.
But if You are Worgen, then there is no quest for You.

And it's confirmed by GM. Also You wont be able to continue as Goblin.

After this quest, you'll become a Valiant for your home city. You will be charged with earning Valiant's Seals by doing daily quests (5 Seals from 4 quests per day, 25 Seals needed to advance). Once you've completed your own city, you're free to pursue the other cities in whatever order you see fit.

Before you choose your next city, you should know that Valiant's Seals are fungible. That is to say, any one is just like any other; the cities don't care how you got them, just that you have twenty-five Seals. If you're already Exalted with Ironforge but low on Darnassus reputation, you can do ten days of Valiant dailies for Darnassus and get the rep that comes with it. When you're ready, you can hand 25 Seals to the Darnassian commander, do the jousting quest and become a Champion of Darnassus, then walk right over to the Dwarven commander and do the same. For all they care, you could do 20 days worth of Exodar dailies (earning 20,000 Exodar rep in the process) and become Champion of all of the remaining cities in one day.

Exceptions: You must do your own racial faction first; there's no way around it. Also, once you've accepted the quest "A Valiant of ", you're locked into that city until you complete "The Valiant's Challenge." It's only five days, though; I'm sure you can hang in that long.
