Well bite me. Pets that are really adorable and trully fun to have all belong from money needing investments! We need more pets like egbert and willy and the other children's week pets! I hope no more cute pets come that need a credit card in order to obtain :< cause real life has no auction and I can't grind volatile life anymore since i spend it on wow! xD

Note: This pet was retired from the Battle.net Shop on June 18th 2014. It is still obtainable via trading and the auction house.

Aww! This new Blizzard Store Pet is so cute! I'm definetly going to get one for me! Specially because of the pairing with the Winged Guardian! :)

A pity it's for one character per purchase, unlike the mount!
On the other side, it's good because you can gift it in-game. A perfect surprise for that special someone!

There goes a type of gold selling from Blizzard itself. But this time the player base will determine the gold price for 1$. I hope this quells most illegal gold sellers(and account hacking as well).

Just bought one for myself, some info about it:

It has A LOT of idle animations!

Grounded animations:
- Will do the "roar" animation that the mount does, while spreading its wings.
- Will stand on its hind legs, then (in a cute way) fall forward
- Will spawn a tiny butterfly, stand on its hind legs, and swat at it with its paws. Probably the cutest thing you'll ever see in WoW.

In the air
- While NOT FLYING (just idling flying in place) it will Do a yawn/roar animation
- While idle, or while flying forward/any direction, it does an AWESOME somersault animation. Also extremely cute.

All in all, GREAT job blizzard animators.

Guesses on the initial sale price?

Parrot Cage (Hyacinth Macaw) is usually the most expensive BoE pet on my realm, Khaz'Goroth at 10-15k atm. I'd guess starting bids around that mark for the Cub in the first week.

I sold the first Guardian Cub on my server earlier today (Area 52). I asked for offers, had one interested buyer, and I sold the Cub for 10,000 gold.... I can only see the prices going down over time. I would be interested to see what others have sold the Cub for.

Just came from the ah, this companion is selling for 9999g to 15k. (Madoran). It has been a really hot topic in trade, that is for sure! I'm just glad my birthday was in late October, for $10 USD my boyfriend got off cheap and I am so in love with this companion. I'd say this little fella may be on some peoples' Christmas wish list!

Only problem I have with this companion is that its not like the other pet store ones. One per character.

Maybe if you use it before the one day duration, it would appear on all of your characters or at least something a-like.

Either way, love it. :)

On the mater of price; should you buy it form the AH and for what price should your limit be?

Think of these key points when deciding if you should buy it from the store or your local Auction House:

It costs 10$/10€/8£ to buy from the official Blizzard store (EU/US)
You can earn that much money with a job in about an hour (maybe two, or even not a job but some household work, or from your weekly allowance.)
Consider how fast you make gold in-game, and do the math on how much gold you can make in about an hour.
Combine the above key points and estimate the gold amount you are willing to pay for it versus buying it from the store instead. It's all about time really, how much you are willing to sacrifice at work or in-game farming gold.

I put my personal opinion in the spoiler tags, here it goes:

For example; if I earn 10$ per hour I can stay and work one hour overtime and *BOM*, I can buy the pet and I am a happy guy. The alternative would be to look up my realm price, let's say it is 5000 gold per pet. This means I must be able to make 5k gold in 60 minutes for the purchase to be worth the virtual currency, given I can do the same at work and in many cases work is even easier than the in-game gold grind.

It's not easy for me to directly tell you "yes you should/no you shouldn't" if you ask me if you should buy it in-game or trough the store, it depends on your financial situation, if you got a job and how your gold income is in the game.

I would however assume that most that play are around the age of getting a job or have some sort of income, like doing laundry, cleaning the house, doing good at school, part time job at some store, e.g. You could either do that for an hour and earn the money you need to buy the pet, or spend the same amount of time (and probably more for the average casual gamer) on farming gold.

Personally doing some thinking and napkin-math; I'd say the pet is worth about 2000 gold, anything above that and especially over the 5000 gold mark feels just as being cheated really. Maybe those without work will have a different opinion, I am sure they would.

I read an interesting post in the WoW Forums about this that it is not really sanctioned gold selling because you cannot sell the pet to a NPC vendor for any amount of gold and the gold that players pay to buy this in the AH is already in the economy and not being created out of thin air. That being said, I reluctantly agree that this in not a sanctioned form of gold selling. see Shadeth #20

This pet is also not BOA which is a bummer to those of us that collect pets for our personal use only. I agree with other people posting in the WoW Forums that Blizz should provide two purchase options in the store, one for BOA and one for trade-able.

Please be sure to search the WoW Forums and leave feedback for Blizz on this since I would hope they will listen to their customers and make the different purchase option available .

This model is a very brillant strike against the extremely annoying gold farmers.

There are many, many players who want to buy gold for real world money. I don't know why nor have I ever been one of them, but the sheer amount of gold selling site advertisement in the game and on a lot of fan sites makes clear that it is, indeed, a fact. This has a negative impact on the gaming experience for nearly everybody: I don't like gold spammers in the capital cities, I don't like being hacked, I don't like getting spam emails trying to steal my account. None does.

So what's ~~love~~ the Guardian Cub got to to with it? Many people who want to buy ingame money will try it out as a safe and legal way to do so. Of course the prices will fall a lot, but judging from my guild, many people like collecting useless stuff ingame (I certainly do), so there will be constant demand. Let's say at least 25% (wildly guessing) of the people who make gold with the Guardian Cub now would have bought gold from third party sites otherwise. Let's further say that Blizzard will sell at least 200k of these Cubs within a year. That's a solid 500.000$ that goes to Blizzard instead of dubious gold farmers. I don't know what their yearly revenue is, but I'm absolutely convinced this will hurt. Hard. And the best part about it: There is no way to stop it for the gold farmers, Blizzard can even lower the price or add additional pets/mounts like this in the future. They'll have to increase their efficiency by a ridiculous amount or will simply perish (read: go to other games), at least that's my dearest hope.

Sold 1 for 37k and added 1 for 40k (buyout 43k). Easy gold as cakes. Now no need waste time on gold farm... just more real life. Goldsellers and their spam will die soon =)

Lots of talk about buying and selling these pets but no real description of what it does so here goes:

This pet follows you by flying whether you are mounted on a ground mount or flying mount. However if you are walking or running on foot, the pet will also follow on foot. When you first mount up a ground mount, the pet will run on the ground very fast behind you and then take flight, kind of like you would expect a cub just learning to fly to do.

If you watch the pet while you are mounted and it is following, you will see some cool animations. Occasionally the pet will do a "look off to the right then left" move (I assume that's the guardian in him!) He will also do a fun mid-air flip as he follows once in a while.

The pet will also do a ground animation (I usually see it very occasionally on dismounting but he will also do it if you are just idling). I thought at first he was shadowboxing, but he is actually trying to catch a little butterfly and then falls on his face. Good fun!

This pet, is my most used one. When I saw it, I just had to have it. My parents got it for me as a gift, and it's just so cute. This would also make a good plush, Blizz! Anyways, this pet is well worth the $10.00USD, and I highly recommend it.

if blizzard made those bind on use to curb gold buying, it's a flop, there's in average only one per side on each realm for sale at all times
