With the launch of patch 4.3: Hour of Twilight and the exciting new Transmogrification feature, the number of items which may be the source or destination of this new service is limited and may change over time as we continue to monitor feedback.

Whilst the below list covers the majority of rules, please note that it is not exhaustive and that there may be other items that cannot be used in Transmogrification at this time.

- The character must be able to equip both items.

- Only uncommon (green), rare (blue) or epic (purple) items may be transmogrified.

- Items must share the same armor type (examples: plate for plate, cloth for cloth)

- Weapons must be the same weapon type (exceptions: Guns, Crossbows, or Bows)

- Guns, Crossbows, and Bows can be used to transmogrify Guns, Crossbows, or Bows.

- Main hand weapons can only be used to transmogrify Main hand weapons.

- Off-hand weapons can only be used to transmogrify Off-hand weapons.

- One handed weapons can be used to transmogrify a Main hand or Off-hand weapon.

- Legendary items cannot be used in transmogrification.

- Fishing Poles cannot be used in transmogrification.

- Whilst the level 60 PvP armor and weapons such as Knight-Captain or High Warlord cannot be used in transmogrification, special versions of these have been made available to players that have the appropriate Feat of Stength via new vendors in Area 52.

There may be individual items that are excluded from being transmogrified on the basis that they were originally added to the game as absurdities. (examples: a weapon that looks like a fish, or a chest piece that is invisible)

Please note that using an item for transmogrification makes it soulbound, non-refundable and non-tradable and the enchant displayed will remain that of the equipped item.

If you are a death knight, and you kept iether of your starting sets, they're great for transmogrifying. there is also a vendor in ebon hold that sells both sets and weapon, so you can get them if you didnt keep them.

I was wondering if the transmogrifying process requires that both items be Green or higher. I have a pair of black leather gloves that are short, which allows you to better see the wrist armor. I also like the color. Problem is: the item is Gray. Could a Green item be transmogrified to look like a Gray item of the same item type (in this case leather gloves)?
