He's at the bottom of the large stairwell, since the dungeon is pretty linear, its hard to miss him.

You can stealth this if you're very sneaky.

All you have to do is stun/sap the forge masters. The flames will shut off as long as the Forge Master is stunned or in combat. Run past where the flames come out then vanish/shadowmeld/feign death/whatever.

He's just after the first boss. Pretty easy to solo to especially if you have a way to get past the flame guys. I'm an 80 hunter so I just used my pet and ran past, feign death'd, let my pet die and then moved on from there. Once you get past the flame room it's cake, watch for the packs of jumping ghouls though, they can kill you if you don't pay attention!

Solo'ed as 80 mage, didn't need invis potions and glyphs.

Just invis past the first hall and go right as soon as you enter the room with the forge and chill at the boxes until your invis cd runs out. then aggro the first pack of mobs and run past the flames which should now go away. Keep running and pop mirror image, once you aggro the next pack of mobs, hit iceblock. Hopefully your mirror images are far enough that all the mobs would go for them then hit invis run to the beginning of the other room.

Once your in the hall with the dragons, if your careful enough you shouldn't aggro till the very end of that room. Utilize blink whenever you think it's necessary in passing the mobs. Then invis and walk to the first boss room and stay on the right. Hug the wall on the right till the hall with zombies.

Wait for your invis cooldown again (though it's not really necessary for this part, you might need just in case). Run through the hall, you shouldn't aggro any mobs, go up the stairs and watch out for the pat. If you do aggro do the mirror image iceblock and invis thing again. Hopefully everything went well, and then hide under another set of stairs after going up the first set. There will be a pack on the left and right, try to blink in between them and the elder would just in front of you! Gd luck.

If you are 80, you don't need any stealth abilities or a group to get to this elder.

I pulled the first pull of 2 mobs, and was able to simply walk down the middle of the first hall without aggroing anything.

Next, you DO have to take out the forgemasters. This is the only slightly difficult part. I was able to use hex and an elemental totem for both. So I had no difficulties.

You can carefully ninja your way through the protodrake room, and around the first boss. In the hall with the ghouls mining, you should kill the frenzied ghouls. Then you can easily ninja the rest of the way.

Sapping the forge masters does NOT work, even thought you'd figure iRL that it would. It's still not too bad to get this done as a rogue. I just cheap shotted the first forge master, then sprint/evasion and hit the other forge masters as I ran by them. Once you get to the doorway after the Furnace of Hate, just vanish and you'll be fine. I recommend sprinting through the rooms with the geists also, their erratic quick movements make it hard to distract them into standing still

completely soloable by almost any class i'd say, it requires you to be a bit sneaky ofc

i just did it on my warlock, pve specced geared, destro lock, ie one of the worst soloing specs in the game,

you can avoid all big pulls, i killed a total of 6 grps, only the forgemaster + adds were really hard, just l2sneak and the elder is yours

Stealthed through this as a NE Balance Druid. Probably could have fought through since I'm lvl 80 but wanted to try and stealth it.

For the Forge MastersI pounced them, hit dash, ran through to the next section and hit Shadowmeld. Might not have even needed to dash. Once the Mobs had reset switched back to Cat form/prowling and repeated the process. Easy to stealth through the rest of the instance. Keep an eye out for those leaping Geists in the tunnel as they can be fun to avoid.

Stealthed back out and repeated process for last Forge Master.

As an 80 mage I got past the forge by: Sheep forgemaster, Frostnova the others, Blink forward, hit Invisibility. Waited by barrels for Invis to cool down and did it again. Wait for next Invis and go to top of stairs. Hug around the room with the Prince. Wait for next Invis and go past zombies, then go to far right of stairs (on the metal part) and wait. You can time your way between the warrior and geist pats and hide under the next stairs. Hit invis 1 more time, go up and left up the little stairs and wait for invis to wear off. The Elder will appear.

Just did this as an 80 MM hunter...only hard part was the forge masters. The easiest way for me was to send in my pet to attack the forge master and run across the flame barrier while he had him busy, then feign death on the other side. Other than that it was just run through and don't agro any mobs.

Accidentally went into it on heroic, stealthed to very end boss and died, checked WoWhead and facepalmed as I saw that I actually passed the elder.

If you are nigth elf dr00d,prowl to the fire place, stun the first forge master and sprint to the next one get in combat with him run past the second fire wall and use shadowmeld. then you can prowl rest of the way till Elder Jarten

I'd like to note that you can stealth this as a Night Elf Druid, but not a Tauren Druid. Without an ability like Shadowmeld, Vanish, Feign Death, etc. you are pretty screwed after you aggro the forge masters. I would know Because I died four or five times attempting it.

Soloing this now as a pretty well geared Enhancement Shaman. Shamanistic Rage on CD for the 30% damage reduction and that's all I've used for trash pulls. Insta-Healing Waves on some Maelstrom Weaponx5 stacks when I drop below 80%. Been cake so far. Furnace was no issue.

I suspect I'll just need Earth Elemental and my Wolves to handle bigger threats at this rate.

41K health unbuffed feral druid here. No need for any fancy tricks - just tank and spank all mobs that you feel you can't sneak by. Even solo'd the first boss just because I could, though his ice tomb ability is annoying - might want to equip your trinky before the fight.

The forgemasters can be Polymorphed and Hexed. Though, seriously, nothing in here was a challenge on normal mode as a level 83 shaman. Even Ingvar the Plunderer went down as fast as a... anyway.

Yes, I really got that far into the dungeon before I figured out where this guy is.

The coordinates are 47.4, 69.6 in the Njorn Stair. If you reach the second boss event with the two bosses, you went too far. (And if you kill them, the door stays down so you can't go backward, and it doesn't open again until you kill Ingvar the Plunderer...)

He's just past Prince Keleseth, just past the first group of the ghouls, in the room with the first set of stairs.

Easily soloable as 85 Fury i381. Get thru the forge, hug the wall past the Prince if you don't want to bother with him, up the stairs at 72.9, 54.1 in a little room to the left. 'Nuff said! See map screenie.
