A very strong starting pet, comes with gore 2 and bite 2. Possible for horde hunters to get at level 10 as well, just a little difficult

From Orgrimmar, run north into Azshara, west through Azshara to Darkshore, run north through Darkshore until you're at Auberdine. Swim under the pier out to the furthest dock (straight from the inn in Auberdine) and drown yourself. Run your body back, hop on the boat, and look out for the Draenei guards as you head to the area they are located in.

Took 33 kills to get the 8 hides, sort of a pain quest, especially with their rend that continues to do damage after you kill them, but it's decent xp and gray vendor trash.

Contrary to what others sources say, the Ravager Specimen will NOT eat raw meat. I have to disagree with the previous poster who said food for this pet is hard to find. Just buy jerky from the Innkeeper at The Exodar and you are all set.

I strongly recommend that every hunter at level 10 go train this pet. Its damage output is absolutely incredible, making you able to chain pull virtually every mob.

The problem with this pet and any that use 'gore' as their best attack is that there isn't any way to learn 'gore' level 5 or 6. Furthermore if you are a horde player learning 'gore' level 4 is difficult because only Bellygrub a level 24 boar in Westfall has it. Its an awesome pet, for now.

The best level 10 hunter pet. I soloed a level 20 orc while running through Wetlands and level 11 elite hogger with this beast, I highly recommended it.

This is a great pet! I tamed it at lvl 10, and I've had it ever since. I'm lvl 42 atm with my hunter, but I'm planning on keeping this pet until lvl 70. Only downside is it only eats meat, but it's not a such big deal. If any skilled hunter out there knows of a better pet for leveling, please notify me. This is a very good starter pet. with gor 2 and bite its preety good. what the item list doesnt say it drops is a Blazing Wand.
And a Blue chest piece forgot what it was though.

I got this pet yesterday at lvl 10 with an lvl 80 escort

i did it like this:
from orgrimmar run north into ashenvale,
folow the road till you reach darkshore,
run to auberdine (i killed whole the village,but you don't have to if you don't want, you can avoid it).
run to the end of the pier (with escort because the pier is filled with guards,without escort you just swim)
and then you just wait on th boat and hop on (the crew on the boat is neutrall, you can attack them,but they cant attack you)
(without escort you just drown yourself under the end of the pier,corpse run back,wait on the boat,hop on the boat and release your spirit when the boat leaves)
from azuremyst isle you dont need ur escort anymore,on your way you wont pass any guards.
escort makes it alot easier,i didn't die with my escort.

it took me bout 25mins to get there,so good luck all :)

This is a fantastic pet for both leveling and PvPing. The stun works wonders in PvP obviously, and even while soloing it's useful as the stun will stop runners and prevent mobs from getting a lot of hits on you or your pet.

Plus they look frakking awesome.

With regards to the loot drop Ravager Cage Key, I think the percentage chance varies from class to class.

As a warrior, you obtain this key from a special quest, and so there seems to be a zero drop rate for warriors (both before, and after this quest I never got the key no matter how many mobs I killed. This key is handed in after the quest

As a Hunter, this key dropped within the first 10 mobs I killed. Same applies to non-Dranei characters (I switched my Hunter to Dwarf, when I remade as a Warrior) and I got the key in the first 10 kills.

In both cases, the key is soulbound, so trading to alts is not gonna happen :P

My Cousin Ran Me Here (I'm A Lvl 20 Undead Hunter) To Help Me Get A Ravager. He Is A Lvl 85 Blood Elf Mage. We Got Here And I Ended Up Getting 3 DIfferent Kinds Of Ravagers, 2 Spikey Spiders And 2 Moths XD (I Kept Using Hearthstone Then Stable Then He Summoned Me Back.) I Love My Ravagers..And At Lvl 20 Their Armor Is Around 1.2k. Good Tanking Pet Imho.

Thank you Blizzard for not makein there completely freak impossible for horde hunters to get. Only dies 3 times. All goin through Auberdine and all were on the docks.

If you really want one of these at the low lvl. I would suggest a a friend go with you to pull the agro so you can actually finish tamming the beast but what ever. Simply swim out to the end of the dock in darkshore. of course remove your armor and drowned yourself. after that run out to the end of the dock and wait for the boat. once the boat gets there get on and retrieve your body. put your armor back on and enjoy the ride. I have done this 4 times. Works great and at least you dont have to deal with the guard in the city or take damage on your armor.

You'll die once getting on the docks, probably again running to the far end, and maybe once more if you run into any alliance.

Pretty tough if you want this before 30, when you get Feign Death.

However it's a lot easier to get this pet than to get the Lynx cats in the Blood Elf starting area (as alliance). That requires corpse-running through EPL :\

Yea, I decided my lvl 10 orc should have one of these. Died only say 5 times on the way from Org... and one of those was a Ally killing me right at the end of the dock as he got off the boat, :( I was surprised I didn't die more times.

These things do sikc amounts of DPS though... the only problem now is, what to name it?

well i had a lev 18 hunter (horde) and it wasnt easy but it wasnt hard eather... first u can fly to splinter tree xroads and zoram' gar outpost. run to darkshore and then drown,ride the boat to azuremist isle... after you get to azurmist go in the deep water and while you are a spirit die again (go in the deep water and die from fatigue)
after that you will go to the grave yard and then you have the spirit helper rez you (thats tthe olny way!) run by the water, you will start to see the ravagers now you can train him :D
IMPORTANT! MAKE SHURE TO FEED HIM! now just hearth back enjoy your pet ;)

it was fairly easy I sent all my armor that was a quest reward to my main and ran there, I got to the docks and aggroed a thresher, then i ran bac and waited on the dock for the boat and rezzed on the boat. I jumped off before the boat could stop, swam to shore, and ran to the pods where the ravager specimens are. unfortunatly thier green better looking brothers on Bloodmyst isle are not tameable.

ha ha! this tame was soooooooo simple for me, after reading all this i started to change my mind, but jus got one, 9:34PM, did exactly like teh post says, boat - fatigue - res - tame, went behind a tree casted tame beast and went off without a hitch, he didnt interupt my tame once. now i have a lvl 10 ravager!

lol why are all these comments from horde trying to get it?... Anyway.. This is a very nice starting pet, it comes with Bite (rank 2) and gore (rank 2), it eats the average lvl 8 furblog alive :D.

This is super easy to get for horde if you do it at an off time.
I did this on a full sever and I only had to die once when I killed myself under the boat and rezd on top of it to avoid guards then i stood on top of the little cabin in the very front and no guards aggro'd so it was all good :)

I've gotten 2 with no problems at all. The first one was for my 19 WSG twink and the second was for my Orc hunter to level. This is if you are coming from the Crossroads. Get a disposable pet that you aren't gonna care to dump once you are on Azuremyst Isle.
Strip...all armor and weapons.

Head North on the Gold Road into Ashenvale. Depending on what level you are..put on track beasts so you can skirt around the ones that are close to the road. Once in Ashenvale when you come to the fork in the road(the one that tells you right to Splintertree or left to Astranaar) go left. When you get close to Astranaar leave the road as soon as you see the entrance and hop into the lake to the left and swim west. Swim close to the bottom and resurface only when you need air. Swim around to where the bridge leaves Astranaar and leave the water between the large tree and the bridge. Continue running west towards Darkshore.

I have never died (PvP)on the run to Darkshore because the Alliance do nothing to a level 10 hunter in his leather underoos. Well nothing except laugh and point. The only time I have died has been by a bear in Darkshore.

Anyway....if you haven't died by the time you reach Darkshore..kill yourself. You will res in the closest graveyard. I do believe this will work even if you die in Ashenvale. Ghost run to Auberdine. Run out to the dock/boardwalk. Take the center boardwalk to the end. Wait for the ship. Get on the ship. It will take you to Azuremyst Isle. When you arrive..jump into the water and run west. When you see the warning you are fatigueing...just die. Again. You will be transported to the graveyard on the island. Go ahead and res there. At level 10 I experienced zero res sickness on one..and on my second hunter it only lasted for 10 seconds. Put radar on track beasts again and get dressed. Go clockwise on high ground around the hills you are in. There are a few beasts you may have to kill..but they are level 8s. Keep following around in a clockwise motion. When you reach the halfway mark around the hills from where you started they should be across the road to your left. You should have no problems taming one. Then hearth out. Hope this help everyone who wants one.

Actually, the easiest - and surefired - way for horde characters to make the trip is to skirt Auberdine to the west, enter the water, swim under the dock, undress and drown, spirit run onto the boat, and res there on top of your body.

I did this last night with a level 11 troll hunter and only died twice. Once to mobs near Astranaar and once in the water under the boat. Attempting to ride the boat as a spirit and res in another zone's graveyard can lead to hardship when you get ported back to the zone you died in.

I'm a Orc Hunter and was lvl 48 when i got mine.... Tamed a boar on the way back from blasted lands and used him as tank/ aggro puller for me to get on boat over to isle... heres how it went.. Used my mount to just charge into the building that you need to go through to get to the pier... as i auto dismounted, aspect of the monkey active i ran straight up the pier the pig pulling off the aggro to me, when i got half way up whistled the pet and it appeared by my side and pulled the guards off me that where chasing me, all the while im running to the end healing pet before getting out of range of heal spell. whistled the pet at the end of pier and he appeared just as the boat came in and i boarded it, no more aggro from anything then,it was plain sailing from there on, jumped off boat before it docked swam ashore, then mounted up and trekked to the spot where they all hang out avoiding people with the track humanoids. this may not be the safest way of doing it but by heck it was the most fun i had in age's all the noobs looking on in disbelief as you run by. its a lvl 55 ravager now with bite 7 and gore 7 and let me tell you it way out dps's anything ive tamed so far and holds aggro no matter what i do, my advice is get one and live wih it till you can put gore 7 on it after gore 4 it will be worth it.

I've had this pet for quite some time now and i love it, does great damage and holds aggro extremely well, it can take on several mobs at once without any problem at all. ive put him up against some pretty gnarly stuff and i dont think hes died yet, or even come close for that matter. only 2 flaws: 1 is for horde characters again, keeping moves current proves to be just as annoying as taming it, gore 3 and 4 are on boars in alli territory, bite however is on a couple things deep within the bowels of ashenvale. #2 is the speed at which they approach an enemy once told to engage... needless to say ill be getting dash as soon as im able. pretty cool skin for a low level ravager, im looking foreward to some of the 60+ skins. i highly recomend this pet, and personally i found the adventure of locating/taming it quite fun, despite being very time consuming

I had one of these guys since I every finished my Taming Quest, first pet, favorite pet, they are awesome pets one of the best pets too, a bit slow speed till you can get dash, but its worth it. The only flaw eats a bit often so keep food handy.

It can be easy obtaining one of these as a low level horde hunter, only catch is.. knowing a 70. I have escorted many many lower hunters from Org to Azuremyst Isles, with 0 deaths for either of us. Just put on aspect of the pack and have them wait outside both Ashenvale and Auberdine while you clear the guards and any unwanted alliance who feel brave. Then all you have to worry about is the guards on the bridge to the boat, because they respawn almost immediately. Once on the island you dont have to worry about anymore pvp as there are usually only low levels in Exodar and surrounding areas. Tame then hearth. Easy peasy.

Hope this helps others out, I never have a problem helping people out of my same faction as long as they're tolerable to run the distance with.

Walk from Crossroads, to aulberdine(sp?), SWIM over to where the boat comes in, shoot a guard.

guard kills you, you die, you rez inside boat when it comes back.

Okay this rocks! At lvl 10, at lvl 28 I had a 70 mage escort me to the docks for free! At lvl 10 he had 500 hp and could take down a lvl 11 so fast! THESE ARE PWNAGE!

I have tried twice to obtain one of these as a pet... My problem is that every type of meat I offer it, it says "your pet does not like this food" I have tried raw stag meat, cooked stag meat, stridor meat and crab... Now, I'm not new to feeding a pet, I have a level 40 cat so I am at a loss as to why this is happening... any help would be wonderful

I got my ravager when I was L24.

He's L47 now and i've gotten him upto Gore 4, Bite 6, Dash 2, Growl 5.
I'm 100% BM spec and we can take on a +1 Elite.

got mine with my horde. only 1 death to get there and that was on purpose

to get on the boat without having to be killed every 2 steps, just swim under the pier to avoid all guards and just drown at the tip of the pier. then just res once the boat has arrived.

the ravager won't eat any of that stag meat, no matter what form it's in. it also will not eat any type of fish or clam. your best bet is to go to an innkeeper and buy some 'haunch of meat' or jerky of some sort. they like that. once you get off the island they will eat other types of mob meat like lean wolf flank etc. on the island, though, you will need to buy meat for it.

it was pretty unruly when i got one, i had to feed him a lot before he was loyalty level 6, but after that he mellows out on the food. the ravager armor is awesome, i don't have the numbers in front of me but the armor is great and they are pretty fast. they also know an attack called 'gore' which has a 50% chance or so to double the damage, i could be a bit wrong with that but it's a neat little thing. if anyone knows the numbers, please correct me if i'm wrong!

I got my Ravager from the Menagerie crash site. While I could NOT tame a Level 10 despite repeated attempts, the Level 9 was easy enough to tame. I have found that he will eat almost anything meat. He's perfectly satisfied with roasted moongraze tenderloins (He won't eat the raw), Bear meat, raw clams and fish.

i havent played wow in a few months now but i do remember u have to cook the meat of whatever type and he usually eats the cooked meat not raw. so it eat to get ur cooking skill up if im not mistaken.

Dying on Kalimdor and trying to rez at the spirit healer on Azuremyst ported me back to Kalimdor. Gotta run there LIVING.
There are no NPC's on the boat so safe. Shouldn't die after boat ride. Might die for 2hrs like me if you're drinking and using ALT+TAB.

You can NO LONGER CORPSE RUN all the way to Azuremyst Isle and resurrect at the Spirit Healer on Azurmyst Isle, you will be teleported back to where ever you first got placed upon death.
