Information on Patch 10.2.6 - No PTR Available, Coming in March

There will be an unique event inspired by the community, available to anyone with a WoW subscription.

There will be NO PTR for the upcoming things in Patch 10.2.6 - They're loving the speculation and want to keep it hidden.

Patch 10.2.6 will also include changes for Dragonflight Season 4 - These will have a PTR, after Patch 10.2.6's launch.

Patch 10.2.6 will be released sometime in March.

As many have noticed, this is the first period of time since Dragonflight launched that we haven’t had an active PTR and we understand that it is creating some curiosity. For the 10.2.6 patch for Dragonflight, we created what we think is a unique event inspired by past musings from the community. We can say that it is open to anyone with a WoW subscription if they want to participate (Classic or Dragonflight players). That's all we’re going say. Sorry, not sorry? Our goal is to continue to keep it secret— and keep it safe. The speculation is great! We watched the reaction to the surprises in Season of Discovery and thought we’d try a similar, but different, approach for Dragonflight. That means there will be no PTR (Public Test Realm) for a portion of the next content update as we have traditionally done. What we can say is that it will be coming in March. A finer point, but the update will also include everything that’s needed for Dragonflight Season 4 but will be hidden. Around (after) the launch of the update we will make Season 4 available for testing on a 10.2.6 PTR before it goes live. Why are we doing this? We like the idea of releasing content that has some surprises and isn’t datamined or revealed in advance. We also like to see the joy the community gets out of uncovering it all together as they all jump in to play. We look forward to seeing if the community likes this type of surprise and look forward to hearing your feedback. This is risky experiment and could be a bit bumpy, though we are doing everything we can to ensure success. The WoW team prides itself on ensuring a solid, quality launch. We are sensitive and reactive to problems and issues that can and might arise, so I hope you can forgive us if we experience some hiccups with this experiment and work alongside us as we try this out in March. ALL WILL BE REVEALED THEN!

Anyone got a pirated build so we can make sure our addons don't break on release?

Comment by IronNight

Buggy mess incoming.

The wow team considers themselves reactive to issues?

Comment by Sandertp

Honestly, fair. I've long thought that the WoW community's general attitude toward PTR and beta content (and spoilers) has been very disappointing and counter-productive.

I like this approach of not leaking too much months before the patch gets released, however I really hope it's not gonna be a typical DF feature, meaning it's gonna be done & dusted after 2 weeks, like majority of the 'events', such as the soup, siege, hunts and the archives event.

Really hoping for something fun with great rewards this time!

without ptr? there will be no content?

Comment by Narhwals

You don't need a ptr, there is no content thats coming. Its just story and cosmetics

Does this mean it'll launch at the same time for every region? Or will NA players get to play another patch 1-2 days ahead of everyone else again?

Comment by Calluxus

Oh great, because Blizzard have had such a STELLAR record of releasing untested things that miraculously just work and aren’t a buggy or disappointing mess that would have been seen with 5 minutes of PTR testing.

Like the entire Azeroth Archives system, or Gilneas Reclamation, or every single boss and event that they’ve tried to make a secret of.

Inspired by the community? This must be a retail hardcore event.

I actually really enjoy this release strategy. That said, with the recent layoffs & general spotty QC in previous stuff, I REALLY hope it isn't a buggy mess on launch

Comment by RoburConqueror

No PTR? So we have to wait at least 2-3 weeks before doing anything from it because it will be bugged as hell.

The answer is: Yes NA will launch beforehand.

Comment by Wabbitkiller

No, there will be at least 2 weeks of PTR bug fixing, just on live servers.

Comment by Glorinsson

Haha. They don’t listen to the bug reports from the PTR anyway. This will be an even bigger #$%^show

Comment by Crownfucnroyal

They cant even release content that went through the ptr without it being a broken glitchy mess. This sounds like itll be a disaster.

its def pirates

There are thousands of other things that could be inspired by the community.

That said, hardcore retail WoW could be really cool if they also modify the experience so it's harder when leveling. Like it's own "gamemode".

10.2.6 will be available to anyone with a WoW subscription (including Classic players) so is that saying that it won't involve the Dragon Isles at all?

Comment by Adradia
