It would appear that if you are in combat, you are unable to overload the portals.

A tip from someone who is on this quest.

DO NOT HANG AROUND AFTER YOU KILL THE MOB. I killed the air one and then got into a talk with a guildie. The mob respawned, I couldn't weaken him in combat, and I died quite the inglorious death. Not one of my better moments in WoW.

On this quest all 3 NPC's that need to be slain have 775k HP ONCE you overload the Portal which is like a little stone in front of the NPC they will lose HP down to 155k. Easy kill all 3 as a fire mage.

I cannot figure out how to kill Apexar as a balance druid. He seems to be immune to all of my spells. Can anyone help?

This is one of the worst quests (or, perhaps is an example of the worst kinds of quests) Blizzard makes. All the mobs are immune to stuns, attack immediately (preventing "opening moves"), have a ton of HP, and hit like a truck. This means that your only choice in combat is to sit there and spam your highest damage moves until they die while taking massive damage yourself. This may be business as usual for healing and plate classes but it %^&*ing sucks as a rogue; I don't appreciate having to burn health pots and cooldowns just to survive a fight with a non-elite quest mob. @#$% you blizzard.

PS. Oh yeah, plus their spells are all uninterruptible. God forbid we reward any mechanics usage other than spamming damage.

Some non-ranting info on Apexar's "Hardened" ability: I was told that you simply have to dps through it. Not sure if that's accurate, since I saw several people having trouble with that strategy solo (including myself), but when I grouped with two warriors it did seem to go down almost immediately. Still a b**ch and a half for non-pet, non-plate, non-healing classes trying to solo this f**ker.

Yeh bad quest to be sure, have managed to complete it (Rogue) had to use Sprint ontil his buff ran out, then was able to take him down, bloody hard one though

This is possibly worse quest I have ever done in WoW so far.
(Bringing Pebble to safety is a close 2nd)

Whoever thought putting "a immunity buff" on mobs, wasnt thinking too well.

I don't understand why everyone seems to be having so much trouble. This quest is a piece of cake. Use the sparkling little clicky things next to each boss, then DPS them down. The damage shield is barely noticeable, but for a few seconds.

This is a bad one... I tried 14 times with my fully PVP geared Rouge. I even tried using my sprint to out run until the buff is off with no luck !

Come on Bliz ! Immunity on a mob!

I just simply wanted to add that melee dps seems to work pretty good. and I agree that it was hard to find one of the guys just cause they had a floating platform with no indication from the quest giver or the location. I think that bit is what could have been improved.

Shouldn't the quest say SOMETHING about their being a floating platform?

I was left wandering around the twilight camp for about a half hour, because that is where the quest trackers says to go.

Heres a tip blizzard-If you want to design 3d quests with objectives below and above you-ADD AN ALTITUDE INDICATOR TO YOUR QUEST TRACKER.

I was having a great deal of difficulty with this quest and getting very frustrated....until I noticed that the elementals you have to free as a separate quest Unbinding give you a 15min buff:

Water: 100% damage regen
Air: 5% reduction to damage taken
Fire: 5% increase to damage dealt

After getting each of these I was able to take down the mobs for the other quests.

If you are a mage use spellsteal on all 3 of these mobs.

Watch out when attacking Edemantus. He does a spell that pushes you backwards, which in my case pushed me into the water. That made him evade my attacks and reset, so I had to kill him all over again.

Make sure not to attack any of these before you used the controls (I did that with one of them by accident) since it counts only if you kill them in there debilitated form and you can't use the controls while in combat (as mentioned above a couple times).

So if you have a way to drop out of combat use it since killing them in their elite form - while possible - is just a waste of time.

Killed Aetharon with my holy priest. Even using the controller repeatedly it felt like forever to kill him and pretty much used every button but finally I saw his health go under 1% and then die. He rose into the sky in ghost format and showed a corpse on ground but quest did not credit him as slain. Then he respawned. I then put a ticket into WoW for a GM to review. The GM reset Aetharon. That caused Aetharon to properly buff with the controller so he shrank and then quickly died and quest completed.

wow, just went through this on my demo lock with NO problem at all...activate overload...when they shrink send pet and just burn em down. Oh, the little lock isn't even well geared.

I created an account just so I could say #$%^! THIS! QUEST!

Died 3 &*!@in times on apexar. What a stupid quest. Had to heal myself the whole time just so I could get like 3 !@#$ing seconds to switch to boomkin form and hit him with a moonfire and then get stunned halfway through starsurge. Thank GOD for my treants or I would have died. Popped barksin, thorns, innervate, treants, healed the @#$% out of myself, and still by then only had like 20% health and like 5% mana. RIDICULOUS BLIZZARD! ^&*!ING RIDICULOUS!

Killing Debilitated Apexar is not possible as an 85 Frost Mage in quest gear.

Mages - use Mirror Image on Apexar after using the controller.

Please note in order to eliminate certain death -- you must get a buff from each of the three elementals or you will have -0- chance of success! After the buffs, used the portals, as lvl 85 arcane mage used mirror image and voila! piece o cake.

I had no problems with Apexar on my lock, druid, pally, or DK, but when I got to my mage the headaches began.

The only way I was able to down him (the other two didn't give me any problems) was to to get all three elemental buffs and use mirror image. The main issue is that was not on a toon in fresh greens but wearing enough 377 gear that my average item level was 361.

Clearly this quest has some class balance problems and I am dreading when my priest gets to this quest. As it stands now classes with pets and tanks can go "buffs? We don't need no stinking buffs" and plow through this. Everybody else better get that buff or you will die.

LOL I was so lost trying to find Aetharon. I was flying at a medium height, enough not to pull aggro on anything, and couldn't find him. I assumed maybe he was in a cave or downstairs in a building or something... till I came here and saw that he's on a floating platform, and was right above me the entire time.

A note for rogues: after you overload the portal controllers, DO NOT use Vanish. The mobs will revert back to elites if you do this, and if you can't hit the controller again fast enough, you'll have a helluva time keeping yourself alive. If you're lvl 85, the mobs are a piece of cake - as long as you don't Vanish and try to fight them in their elite forms.
