this started for me when i killed a turquoise scarab, but not an amethyst

This quest starts once you killed a scarab. They appear in The Chamber of the Stars after you reach a certain point in the Harrison Jones quest chain (after the statues are broken). After that point they don't disappear anymore so you can do this quest at any point you like.

Update: They disappear after you've completed this quest.

Confirmed for that this Q was the last one I needed. I was also stuck on 107/108. The quest starts as soon as you kill a scarab down there. They can't be AoEd, so you need to actively single target and hit them.

You'll find a different flavor of scarab in each corner of the place. Gz to those got their 108/108 achievement after this quest :)

Anyone else experiencing a bug where you are unable to turn in this quest? The blinking red section in the quest tracker tells me to click to complete it, but when I do it gives me the error: "This objective is not in the database." I'm assuming I'll have to start all over again?

I didn't get this quest until I killed an Emerald one. Amethyst and Sapphire did nothing.

That was the one quest I needed to get me my achievement as well. Thanks for the tip and I had no issues with any color.

Note, you can only start the quest once you've turned in "Tipping the balance", which involves the cutscene with the statues falling, revealing the scarabs. Killing the scarabs before the turn-in doesn't pop up the new quest icon.

I planned to tame the Amethyst scarab but once I completed the quest, they all disappeared...I started on the Turquoise (just happened to be where I landed), no problem getting the quest to start.

I got the achievement at 107/108 oddly enough.
Went and did this anyway as I have had achievements disappear before now, I'm looking at you "bounce". :(

i'm having trouble figuring out how to turn this in. i've completed the quest but the quest doesn't say who started it or who to turn it in to. i don't see a question mark on my mini map or the big map. it shows up on my quest log but not on my map.

It's not terribly helpful, but I just found that an unholy DK ghoul pet buffed with dark transformation can AOE them, with its cleave attack.
