The machines you're looking for look vaguely like a table with an orb on them with a purple ring around said orb. They are guarded by Twilight Cryptomancers and they disappear after one use (hence "One Use").

What you are looking for are the One-Time Decryption Engine. While I was doing this they instant respawn'd on me 3 times so it was very easy to do. Each one normally has a Twilight Cryptomancer in front of them.

Do this quest chain before you complete the quests that allow you to restore the pillar at the Temple of Earth (after the stone mother quests). I did not and as a result the NPC disappeared with the phasing that showed the pillar complete and maruut dead.

XP and time down the drain...

EDIT: I flew to Therazane's throne and took the portal there to the temple of earth and the NPC's are back. I turned in the quests and hope this helped any of you who thought you were screwed like me.

The One-Time Decryption machines have a pink Circle surrounding a yellow orb on them, the spawn rate on them is kind of low also.

Another issue I came across was that once I decrypted all 6 plans the yellow question mark showed on the map around the questing area, but I couldn't find a way to complete the quest.

Some addons had previously prevented a quest completion in Cataclysm so I dropped the quest, turned off all my addons, ran the quest again and was able to complete it.
