Why would the Shaman faction offer the tanking arcanum? Very strange. You'd think their arcanum would be for something a Shaman could actually spec into.

Would applying this to a heirloom (BOA) item make it soulbound? Or would it still keep it's BOA status?

Better to give your boon to a class that can synergize and benefit from that power, rather than doubling up on a power someone already has.

That doesn't make a whole lot of sense...Why wouldn't someone want to double up on power they already have? That would make them twice as powerful. I fail to see how that's a bad thing.

And why is the OP getting downrated? There is historical precedent to support what he is saying. The Duid faction's highest rewards were nature resistance gear and a Feral Druid weapon - widely regarded as the best pre-raiding Feral Druid weapon at the time. In the current day, the Arcana and the Inscriptions are the sought-after rewards everyone farms reputation for (even though the Arcana currently only require Revered instead of Exalted like the Inscriptions), and this one is for tanks rather than for any of the three types of Shaman.

The OP wasn't saying that Tanks don't deserve an Arcanum because they obviously do, its just that there are plenty of factions and it would have been pretty logical to swap the rewards around so that at least one of the two Arcana that Shaman can use was given by the Shaman Faction. Seems to me that alpha5099 made a fair enough point and deserves to be ranked back up.

Found out today that the rep requirement is still in place after the item is purchased. I bought it on one character, mailed it to another (85) and got the message "you do not have the required reputation to use that item".

Kind of defeats the purpose, and I submitted a ticket, but as of dec16, BoA doesn't get you out of rep grinding for helm enchants on 2nd 85s. ><

ETA: This has now been fixed. You can buy any of the Cata Arcana and send them to your alts, who can now use them without a required reputation level.

I would think it is a bug, otherwise it kinda defeat the point it is BoA. Many items was and is BoA so you can earn it on one toon, then send it to your others toon so they do not need to go into all that grind again.

Worked well in wotlk and was not op, so would not see why they would make you rep grind to met requirement with all toon(Forcing people to get exalted(shoulders) or revered as in head enchants for the faction they need).

ya its not just this BOA helm enchant that has this bug. the Wildhammer one does too. pretty obnxoious. hopefully the new patch will fix it.

Anyone reading the cast bar when enchanting something with this item will notice that it says "Arcanum of the Earthern Ring" An extra R typo has yet to be removed or noticed.
