Great weapon for either the druid or the hunter. Armor pen and haste are buffed next patch so enjoy this gem! Slightly less power then the BiS gear encountered so far...but there is always Algalon and Yogg-Saron.

I agree this is a good staff, but is it better than Journey's End?

For SV hunters, (properly enchanted, of course), it gives 1.44% less crit, 39.5 less AP, and 5.44% more ArPen.
However, I've yet to test them out properly.

The lack of crit and low base AGI make this subpar for hunters. If you are running 10m Ulduar and are able to get this you probably have run plenty of 25m Naxx and are in 25M Ulduar as well, meaning you have much better options. Of course if you have had terrible luck this is a nice stopgap weapon.

I just got this out of Ulduar the other night. Very nice staff indeed. As many have stated, druids and hunters now have the right to roll on BOTH staves and polearms. This will cover my (melee) weapon slot until i can get a good Ulduar 25 2Hander. Kologarn is an incredibly easy boss ( even easier then XT) so with raid members that can follow directions, this is easy loot. In my opinion this is actually, oddly enough, an UPGRADE from Black Ice. Every stat is better minus the lack of Agility. So if your AGI is below 1k (which it really shouldn't be) Black Ice is the better choice. However, seeing as Maly has a much steeper learning curve, this is probably easier to farm.

P.S: PUGS can be awesome. I killed FL, XT and Kolo with one. It just takes firm leadership (meaning someone that won't let hunters roll on Veranus' Bane with a Warrior present) and people that can listen.

Good luck on farming this thing, it's well worth the time!

As someone who's main is a SV Hunter and alt is a Feral Druid, it really gets me when polearm/staff discussions on here degenerate to "Hunters vs Druids." Guys, we share weapons now, and we have to all get along, so don't be hating if your friends roll against you.

The +ap and +arp on this staff make it GREAT for both MM hunters and Feral druids. I happened to be on my Druid when this dropped last night, and our other hunter had baby aggro, so I was very happy to get it with no competition. I wouldn't have any problem rolling against a MM hunter for this, however, that being said, due to the ArP and lack of Agility, druids will probably appreciate SV hunters deferring to them on this staff. I know I certainly would if I were on my hunter, as there are several other weapons that would serve SV better than this. That being said, if you're MM, go for it, as the ArP and AP are unbelievable for this iLvl.
