I don't think this quest is actually shareable. The "Share Quest" tab in my log was available, but when I tried to share it with a lvl 17 I was with it said he wasn't eligible.
Maybe, for some weird reason, you can share it only with people who are this far in the chain.

This quest kind of left me wanting to know more about Nolkai and these elves. Sure, they were attacked by something, but what? Was it the Naga? Some other nefarious being(s)?

What about the rest of this translation? We're only given a snippet.

Who was Andrew Clementine? It looks like he was someone who happened upon the book. All we know are that he had some "drunken exploits." Why did he write in this book, of all things? Does he give a reason? In fact, was Andrew Clementine part of a group of (possibly humans, or perhaps Elves) who destroyed the Night Elves who inhabited here?

Quest intrigued me with the idea of a dead civilization, but left me hanging. Disappointed, really. Anyone know if this opens up a whole 'nother questline that elaborates on this? Or if I was just blind and missed something?

Alright, maybe this is just me but Nolkia is an anagram of Nikola, like Nikola Telsa (if you don't know him, well, you have him to thank for AC electricity, neon lights, modern electric motors, radio/modern wireless telecommunications, power plant electrical generators (and most of the power in the NY area from his original Niagara Falls power plant) and many other brilliant things) and his very good friend was Samuel Clemens whose writers name was Mark Twain, so... Noklia? Clementine? I think thats the allusions in this quest if I'm right.

I found the box in the right location and was able to loot the cash and the ring, but even though I had the room in my inventory, I was unable to loot the bag nor the lantern. Anyone else run into this? Any suggestions?

The place where you find his Belonging's is that suspicious mound that was sticking up at the Southern Ruins of Loreth'Aran. Have fun!

Works fine on Lightbringer. Just did quest. Loots was all BoP. Maybe there was a problem before with bag being BoP or something. Dirt pile was an easy find.

If you are running a mod, such as Cosmos, make sure auto-bind is disabled. I had to turn mine off before I was able to actually loot the bag or lantern.

The quest is in the zones designed for the Draenei starting areas, but have you read any of the quests in the zones? Half of them deal with the Draenei crash affecting the area and half of them deal with Night Elf history; including the Great Sundering, the evolution of the Nagas afterwards, the transformation into Satyrs by those who joined the Burning Legion (Satyrs are to Night Elves as Eredar are to Draenei), and even more about the relationship between the Night Elves and the Green Dragonflight vs. the Black Dragonflight!

The quest that leads to getting the ring talks about a last stand (similar to the "last stand" by Prince Toreth on Wyrmscar Island). And the ring script mentions Elune. This ring has nothing to do with Outland, it is just part of a very short quest line fleshing out more Night Elf history; it most likely is supposed to be a grey item, but because the history is so cool, and Blizzard wants us to care about the lore, someone probably mistakenly made the item white and it will likely be corrected in 3 or 4 patches (not soon because it's not a priority).

Confirmed that if you have Auto BindOnPickup add-on you will be unable to loot the bag/lantern. Disable the addon and it will work fine.

Have any of you posting here with the exception of the guy who made comment to the fleshing out of NE lore played ANY other toons? In Eastern Kingdoms, (i forget which quest line), you get a 'library scrip' that never leaves your inventory. You never do anything with it, it just occupies space. There are several other quests, i wont go into specifics, that have items you will never, ever need again. If you dont like it taking up bag space, just destroy it...or put it in the bank in case of future use. The game is fraught with such items and if you never get rid of any of them, you will soon enough run out of bag space. I dont mean to be rude here, but if you have palyed any other characters i fail to see how you can be boggled by this one item. Also, it is true that auto BoP in the cosmos UI will make some items unable to be picked up whether you click on them or not. Since ABoP is an unnecessary addon, i disabled it for all my toons as soon as i updated cosmos. You will also notice other conflicts with cosmos, such as you are unable to DE an item if you are using All-In -One Inventory.

I dont think this quest is 'worthless'..
I got an 8 slot bag from the box - and at that time I really needed an extra bag. Too stingy to purchase one - lol

when you try to take the ring or the lantern,it is making it soulbound and you have to answer yes to take them. Its that easy

Thanks for the little history, nice to know SOMEONE cares about the story instead of just skipping it, and go to the quest objective (not that i havent done that a couple of times) anyhow, it HAVE been fixed now, the ring is gray, my oppinion is that they could have added a quest with this ring, fore an example take it to the ghost at wyrmscar.

... found it using coordinates. Not that precise at 61,48 but it'll do. The stuff inside is some sucky stuff. The only useable thing is the money and bag. For a shaman like me the off-hand orb is useless since I use shield. And the ring I don't know what to do with...

Under a mound of dirt in the "upper" temple (on the top of the temple mount) which is in the south part of the Ruins you will find Nolkai's Box.

"Grasses and shrubs cover an unnatural bulge int he earth. A few minutes spent digging reveals an old box, almost certainly the one mentioned in Nolkai's Journal."

experience 120 at level 50 and Reputation with Darnassus increased by 25.

Inside the chest is 120 silver, Nolkai's Band (An inscription on the inside of the band reads: A token for my love to remember me by. May Elune watch over my dear Nolkai.), Nolkai's Lantern (Held in off-hand +3 intellect), and Nolkai's Bag (8 slot bag BOP).

Yeah it's dumb...no sell price, no "this item starts quest", no ability to equip it, it's not a quest item afaik...what do I do?

Toss it or save it for when you're feeling melancholy. Personally I think it's there to confuse the people who should actually be playing Halo.

Seriously, I do wish that this had somehow been followed up. I don't believe that we know the identity of Nolkai's spouse, so even if we were curious about what would happen when you confront the Significant Other, there's no way to follow up; I really enjoyed the Sully Balloo quest line, but that's also because I'm a history nerd and do know a lot of ACW reenactors.

This quest is very confusing. In the guide book, it says the mound of dirt is in Wrathscale Lair, which is a lie. The mound of dirt is in the Ruins of Loreth'Aran, in the southern section on the hill. The coordinents are useless to me, as I do not know how to use them, and it had been unclear as to where to go. It was only after several hours of searching and deciding to take a chance that I managed to find it. The guide book is deceiving.

Ran this at 18 on my Sham, this was way easy, and got 1150XP for both parts of the quest. Plus the 8 slot and the +3Int Off-Hand, this would be a great quest for like 12-14.

- Open the macro window in game,
- Follow the process for making a new macro … icon.. name ..
in the common area so all of your toons can use it,
- Highlight one of the examples below and copy,
- Click the cursor into your open macro text window

Mound of dirt is in Bloodmyst Isle (61, 49). I gained exp 1150 and darnassus rep 250 when i was lvl 19.
