You can pull the guards individually, just be careful of the patrol. Also, be sure to pull the guards when they are at the furthest point from Aldaron.

if you dont use coords...wretched ringleader done in sunsail anchorage, (south of the west santum island)in eversong woods. when i first got this quest i couldn't find how to get to the top floor of the big building because the ramp is kinda hidden, in case anyone else has that same problem: go up the little ramp at the south of the building marked by two red flags. kill the few mobs inside the bottom floor then go thru the funny shaped doorway north of the entrance ramp. then turn to your left (look for a tattered chest too!) and go up the other ramp there. Follow the ramp on up, up, up and you will find the named mob you need to kill at the very top. the guards can be pulled individually and the named mob is not tough to kill. GL!

did this as 11 BE rogue, sapped the first thug, killed aldaron and the other thug... killed sapped thug, then it was just a sprint to quest giver

Could be a reference to Aldarion (Tar-Aldarion), the sixth king of Númenor. He was a great sailor and mariner and his romance with Erendis ended tragically, which could also referr to his 'wretched'-state. Although since the spelling isn't identical (like it's in other references) I could be wrong, which I probably am.

Anyways that was a sidetrack, he is pretty hard to pull solo (tryed all BE classes) unless you're like level 10 and then it's still hard to pull just him since he got alot of adds, or atleast alot of mobs around him that also aggros if you pull him. But in return he doesn't seem to use any special abilities, just normal 'white' attacks.

Indeed there were 2 thugs with Aldaron at the top of the tower. I was able to clear one, but the other was too close to pull separately. If you're a blood elf, just be sure to have 3/3 Mana Taps up to silence one of his Fireballs. Of course if you're a rogue or a mage, you won't have a problem with the 2nd add. Whereas for me being a warlock, I used a Minor Healing Potion just before Aldaron died.

soloed as a lvl 10 lock, if you dont have coords he is on the 3rd story of the building, i almost missed the ramp myself, just go out onto the balcony on the second teir and turn around, you will see it. Wasnt able to pull one alone, al came with him, but with my imp and shadow bolt i was able to take em both out without dying.

Solo'd this as a level 10 lock, with an Imp. Walked up to the top, feared the thug on the left, and Aldaron came to me. Other thug didn't aggro, so I Dotted Aldaron with CoA, Immolate and Corruption. Got him down to around 10%, and switched to the thug. Both died at the same time.

I was wearing vendor bought whites, and a Tattered Dreadmist Mantle. Hope this helps.

Quick tip on how to kill the guy.
Aldaron does not start his attack with out a spell so use that 2 your advantage if u are a long distance damager like a hunter, a mage or something like that. Hit him and climb below the ramp level before the can cast his spell. This will bring the other 2 mobs to u. Kill them and use a potion to regenerate your health if u are low. Wait for sometime to get back your mana. Then jump back up and kill Aldaron.
And please dont forget to loot the chest that's just behind the pink curtain on the top floor. Seems a waste of energy to kill everybody there and not loot the chest. No extra mobs guiding the chest.

Soloed this as a level 8 rogue, stealthed up the tower, attacked Aldaron, looted, jumped off the tower and did a corpse run

one of the adds is a roamer. wait for him to path down the ramp. kill him. next sheep aldaron and work on the other two adds.

took one out...resheeped aldaron... killed other add. killed aldaron. i did use one healing poiton tho XD

If you pull the far mob, you will only get it and aldaron. Did it with a lvl 9 warlock. One nice thing that happened, is that I leveled just after I killed Aldaron and was easily able to defeat the second mob. The third mob, stayed until i attacked it.

I did this very easy at lvl 10...he is all the way on top of the tower and he has 3 buddies with him so be aware...you come around the corner at the top and immediately aggro so be prepared.

Just spent a bit over an hour waiting for Alderon to make an appearance with no result. The quest shows it yellow at 6 and green at 11. Was at 11 and just pushed to 12 from killing trash. Gonna abandon this one.

The Wretched are so oblivious, gorging on foul magic, that they haven't realized we've recovered most of our weapons. We can't expect them to remain in their stupor, though. Now is the time for a decisive attack. Let us make an example of their leader, Aldaron. He was spotted on the top floor of the building by the anchorage. Bring me his head; I'll reward you suitably.
