I see no point in doing this quest.
Reason?

1. It has no follow up.
2. The quest itself gives 280 experience.
3. The drop rate on the amulet is like a random world drop blue item.

I did this at 42 and got 170xp for it. What a joke. It wasn't even worth walking over there from Hammerfall, much less making a special trip there from STV. The chance that people will notice the crystal in Highlands is much greater than the chance that they will find this stupid necklace in STV, so it really serves no purpose.

62, 33, or just look up at your mini map. An arrow points you to the Crystal in the Mountain.

I picked this up in from a mob by shadowprey village while doing a quest to get shellfish.
It seemed so familiar. Then I realized that I had done the entire quest line while in hammerfall. I picked it up when I happened on the crystal. It was a nice line with some good exp.
It might be the one that gives a blue neck piece, "Pulsating Crystalline Shard".

My Deathknight just got this while in the DK training areas at level 56, only 35 xp at that level and will probably be less once he leaves the training area at a higher level.

Ive searched now long time,
but couldnt find out exactly wheter I can complete this quest after I completed the whole Myzrael questline (which is the one the pendant leads to) or not.

I found it in Scarlet Monastery... I'd already done a quest from this crystal in Arathi a long time ago... will it somehow start the same quest?

Alright, let me clear up a few things real quick.
1) The map about the crystal in the Barrens, must be either a totally different quest or a bogus map.
2) You can start the quest one of two ways. a) Find the pendant on a mob and then (right-click) the pendant in your inventory to start the quest. b) Go to the crystal in Arilhi Mountains (west of Hammerfall) and click on the crystal. In any case, you'll still have to bring the pendant back to the crystal.

I'm about to do the quest now and when I'm finish, I'll tell you what the rewards was.

I got mine off a yak-like creature in south Pukado Valley.

Anyhow, it's easy enough to find the crystal. Exit Hammerfall, head due west for about 80 seconds, and you're right there.

If you can't find it, you should feel really, really dumb. Because you'd have to be.

This quest can be started without the necklace by visiting the circle of west binding in the arathi highlands.

As a level 43 pally I recieved only 110 exp for turning in the pendent anyway... :/

No one cares where you got the quest. It is a pain to read all these posts where people have gotten the quest. Obviously most of us have gotten the quest otherwise we would not be here trying to find out information on it. If you must know I pulled this quest out of my arse after a night of binge drinking. The Crystal is Northeast of Refugee Point about an inch past Dabyrie's Farmstead for those of you without COCMOS and for those with COSMOS the Coords given are dead on. I got another quest after finding it called "The Princess Trapped" which involves gathering 12 motes of Myzrael from Kobolds and bring them to Drywhisker Gorge.

Thanks for cutting through the nonsense and telling us where it is.

It's North East out of Refuge Point for Allies, keep going north east until you run into it (past that farm), north near the mountains.

It's just West of the horde base, straight west. You can't miss it.

P.S: I got this quest when the pendant dropped off of a Bloodsail MOB in STV.

I've gotten to the Breaking the Keystone phase of the quest when I went to Desolace to level. The pendant dropped and gave me the quest to find the princess all over again. A little weird.

Waste of time unless you're running thru Arathi. Im keeping this necklace around since it seems to be a rare drop, but I wont do this quest anytime soon.

I found mine in Strangelthorn vale while killing a raptor. It was very random! but Thottbot is very helpfull and i cant believe you went to the barrens LOLz

Seems that some folks have gotten up to that part. I've gone a little beyind it. You can find all the quest info here, of course, so this is just a brief travelogue.

And travelogue it is. This quest sends you to many places on the world map. I (like many others) have not yet goten the necklace, but just clicked on the shard to begin at step two.

OK. After killing the elite L42 Giant and his (now) three friends, then the surprise L42 elite that pops up, you head to Ironforge. (This is from the Alliance perspective, of course. I'm sure the Horde has an equivalent.) There, a secretive representative of Twilight Hammer (whose members you may also fight in Searing Gorge) asks you to find a "lost" member of their cult. He's in the Badlands, and has you kill Rock Elementals for parts of a scroll which can seal Myzrael away again. (Because someone killed her Giant jailers and freed her. Ahem.)

And that's where I am at the moment. It's a fun series, but an odd mixture of easy/impossible to solo at the recommended level. I'm looking forward to the boss fight, though!

I got this off a mob outside RFD. I too see the yellow arrow east of Crossroads, but there is nothing there.. Will have to check out what cmtravis said.... maybe the arrow you see at crossroads, is really the one from the other server.. but it's a map bug...
I don't really think it matters where you find it.. just that you hit level 31ish and it will eventually drop from someone..

I just picked up the necklace. It was a drop off of a Syndicate Thief in Alrerac Mountains around 46,80.

Ok. You get the crystal NORTH of the circle with the water elementals. IT send you to the east past Hammerfall to kill kobolds in the gorge. You pick up 12 shards, head all the way through the caverns and find a second large crystal. Activate the crystal for the next part.
The next part is taking on the Fire, Water, Lightning elementals to get to the center and activate the stone to recieve a key. Then you go to the rock elementals and you activate the stone there. ONce activating the Rock Elemental stone you recieve the next part.

This is the point where you need to kill Fozruk (The elite giant).

Can't tell you what to do next, cause this is where I am at on this quest. No clue as to what the reward is.

You don't need the necklace to start this quest. the large purple looking crystal in the highlands can be searched without it, and you will still get the quest. After killing Fozruk, and "freeing" the princess, you have to fight another level 42 elite giant. I don't know what the reward is... i only know what happens after watching someone else do this quest when i was unlocking the stone with the 3 keys.

I went to the oblisk, found it no problem, but when I clicked on it it gave me the Princess trapped, not this quest. So how do I get the first quest that leads to the Princess Trapped. And where is the cave so I can collect the crystals.

I dumped the quest at Stones that Bind. How can i pick the quest up again at this point. The stone is gray for me. I also deleted the necklace since i finished that part and had a better one. Any suggestions. Has anyone tried sharing the quest with someone... did it work. So far, no one is around on that lvl that can share with me.
But how can I pick up the Stones that Bind Quest. tks

Got to admit a bit pointless this 1.

Loot a green necklace in Desolace not bad stats but nothing to shout about.. Gives a quest..

Run off to Arathi..

Click a crystal which U probably already done the quests for if you persevered in Tarren Mill (gettin ganked by low life lvl60 Allies) for 280xp @ lvl 36.. Hmmmm! better off staying in desolace and killing 2 mobs for that XP.

Only good for getting the un-adventurous types to Arathi to get missions their... BS if you already done them..

Got this necklace from Someone In the SM Armory at level 39, I have allready completed the princess trapped quests so I'm not exactly sure why I really need it... {the apparent 280xp sure isnt worth it}

I found this quest in Scarlet Monastery AFTER I had done most of the quest series. The necklace just points you to the right place of the crystal, but you can start the quest behind it without the necklace as well.

It is true what someone said earlier: if you WEAR the necklace, it will point you the right way on the minimap (a blue arrow). The position in Arathi Highlands is 62/33.

Now, I wondered if the quest would do me any good although I had already done the quests that come afterwards. And hey, it did: 170 XP =)

I found this strange "arrow" on my mini map when I put this necklace on. When I was by the Stagnant Oasis in the Barrens, it popped up on my mini map as a yellow arrow. Not sure what it involved, but maybe its a bug or something. Try it out and maybe you will see it too.

Finished with 250xp. I passed this stone several times and couldnt understand what it was really for. I found the necklace as a drop in Desolace. I didn't really look at it, i just knew I could use it. Then i saw it was with a quest. Looked at this site, and just cleared it. Not too hard thus far. Only one of us could take the quest and I was unable to share it with my friend.

Level 42 bought the pendant off the auction house. If you draw a line between Refugee point and the circle of east binding then walk along that line its 3/4 way from Refuge point to the circle.

The tracking arrow works only if you are far away. When you get close it disappears. Look for some big rocks.

It starts a chain of quests which otherwise I would not have attained. SO I don't see why people are flaming about how useless this quest is.

I only gained 200xp. Save a princess? Sounds like fun anyways.

After you get the quest at the crystal, you'll want to head east, the gorge you are looking for is on the east mountain range not far from the main gates of Hammerfall (SP?) you'll know the place to start heading up, there will be kobalds in the gorge.

I got it at lvl 32 off a Medicine Man in STV. I tried to help my Druid friend farm it there, nut after like an hour, we gave up. He wanted it for the buffs, not even that interested in the Quest :-P

Ok...when you get the necklace ( I'm not sure about getting the quest without it) go east of Dabryrie's Farmstead to find the crystal. Once you get the next quest, go east of Hammerfall (careful of the Horde there...lv55) and look for a path through the mountains. On the way through, kill the Kobolds to get the shardes. Go into the cavern and in the back, you'll find another crystal. This will give you the next part of the quest:
Cresting Key is at the Circle of East Binding;
Thundering Key is at the Circle of Outer Binding;
Burning Key is at the Circle of West Binding;
The Circle of Inner Binding is just south of Refuge Pointe

You will notice some elementals drop charms. These will instantly banish one elemental at another circle, for example; the Cresting Charm dropped at East Binding Circle will banish a Burning Exile at the West Binding Circle.

Once you take the next quest you have to get the lv42 elite bossman. Bring friends :)
