Well, considering the chain that leads you here is obtainable at 33, this must be an error...

I can't remember what level my 45 Rogue got Gnomish Engineering, but I've had it at least 10 levels so has to be an error, unless changed in 2.3...

I did this quest with my lvl31 mage earlier today. You have to remember to talk to Tinkerwiz in Ratchet before you go to booty bay or the quest wont be offered to you. this goes for both gnomish and goblin. The only requirement there is for this quest is that you have 225 engineering.

just wondering if anyone has recently done this quest, since the patch exp has changed i know the pre-reqs give 600 instead of the said 450 , so i'm sure this one yields more

As a warning to all those who are like me and decided to level up engineering after grinding Bloodsail rep:

You will not be able to turn this quest in if you are hostile/hated with Booty Bay, as the NPC you turn it in to is part of the BB faction.

If you already completed the , dropped engineering and now backing to this, you should visit in north east Tanaris. Use the book on the table inside his hut and it's done. Both specializations available.

Although the quest is titled "Show Your Work", it's unnecessary to craft the materials yourself. Buying the materials off the auction house (which in some cases is cheaper) also works.

Since this quest is no longer available, all you have to do is go talk to the Engineering trainer in Ironforge to get the quest for your Gnomish Engineering specialty. You also no longer have to unlearn Engineering to drop your Goblin or Gnomish specialty. Just go to your profession tab and click the red button to unlearn the specialty. Then you can go and pick up the others quest. I'm only Alliance though so I don't know where the Goblin quest is available from.

I finished it with and engineering skill below 225. I don't recall exactly, but I just got 225 and i finished it a while ago.

I obtained this quest after signing the pledge from the same quest giver in Iron Forge ..Master Engineer in Tinkertown. (NOT expert engineer, but the MASTER engineer)

I Got, did and finished the quest at lvl 35. It also requires lvl 200 in engineering, not 225. It�s good to do the quest asap. or maby be prepared with the ingredients. When complete you will recive a Goblin engineering membershipcard.

There is a master engineer that can train you to be an artisan engineer. Can't remember his name but it should not be difficult to find him. He is not the goblin master engineer.

this guy does not give you ability to skill over 225.. he is just the gnomish engineer.

to be able to pick from goblin or gnomish engineering you must be lvl 30 with eng 200 skill, and you can get that quest in ratchet.

I have all the materials, lvl 39, 225 skill and the guy won't take the stuff. I have done everything he asks but he won't let me complete the quest. Anyone know why?

You need to be an artisan engineer. There's another engineering-dude called "Artisan Engineer" or some-such in Gadgetzan. From him you leanr "Artisan engineering", ie up to lvl 300. Once you have this (need to be lvl 200 engineering and lvl 35 to elarn it), you can choose gnomish or goblin engineering.

note: apart from the death-ray and the goblin equivalent, all tiems are BoE and not BoP and only require a certain level of engineering. This means that you can become a goblin engineer and still get almost all the gnomish items by buying them from a gnomish engineer and vice-versa.

This is especially good for gnomes. We can get to lvl 240 engineering at ll 20 (+15 engineering) and thus be lvl 20's running around with net-casters, shrink-rays and jumper-cables XL. Not t o mention mortars and mind-controle caps. It's FUN to meet a lvl ? horde and mind controle him to go attack a mob while you run like hell. If he follows, shrink hima nd then root him down with a net =)

How does the membership renew work? My membership seems to have expire and I can still talk to the master engineer. Is it true that some of the plans/schematics are not available to you if you do not renew?

got this quest last night at lvl 33, 205 engineering. im gonna go with gnome engineering because im a rogue and have more use for trinkets and gadgets than i do for explosives.

Iv� searched around Booty Bay for hours looking for this guy, and I dont seem to find him. I want to start on the quest for gnome engineering. Im lvl 31 rouge with 225 in Engineering. I would be very happy if someone could describe how to find this fella.

You might get the Quest at 200 skill, but you need the Artisan training to complete it. Otherwise, It will say in your quest log that you have completed it, but you cant press the "Continue" button when you try to turn it in.

All professions has the following minimum lvl, for artisan(225-300)

Primary: lvl 35

Secondary: lvl 40

If you're having trouble starting the Gnomish engineering quest it's because you have to go to the engineering trainer in Undercity and grab the quest to start this one.

Fair warning for other fellow Dummies playing Classic WoW:

Completing one of the The Pledge of Secrecy quests and then not completing one of the Show Your Work quests locks the player out from switching their Engineering specialisation. Even if you unlearn Engineering and then re-level it, you will still be offered the same Show Your Work quest as before.

Book "Soothsaying for Dummies" will not offer to switch your specialisation because the game doesn't consider you to have one in the first place.
The Game Masters will not help you with this problem. Believe me, I've tried.

To be eligible for this quest you must be at least level 30 and have your engineering skill 200+. To pick up this quest chain you need to have completed Gnome Engineering (which is picked up in Undercity from Graham Van Talen) or Gnome Engineering(which is picked up in Ratchet from Tinkerwiz). Once you completed Gnome Engineering you will be able to see this quest in Booty Bay.

Full quest chain if you started in Undercity:

Show Your Work was deprecated in Cataclysm and has been replaced with .
You can pick up the new quest from an Engineering trainer in major cities (at a minimum Orgrimmar and Ironforge) as soon as you qualify (Level >= 20, Engineering skill >= 200).
Weirdly the NPCs that previously offered the specialisation quests no longer seem to do so.

What I hope to do though is to analyze your craftmanship for ways to emphasize gnome-oriented techniques in your future efforts. I need the following samples: six mithril tubes, an accurate scope, and two advanced target dummies.

Submit these items to me and you'll be an official gnomish engineer with access to all the schematics!
