Well, I do not know how to do macros and I needed to do this quest. After slogging through the slime and seeing not a one, I just fished for them near the bubbles..and LO! And Behold! They fish up about 1 out of every 2. Did not take long..

Helps if you put up your nameplates by hitting Ctrl + V (default setting).

That way you can just right click the nameplates. :)

Essentially walking through the slime just plain doesn't work. Pick a spot and fish for them. Drops around 20% i am noticing for my level which is Master.

If you're levelling up the best bet is to just Fish them up. You'll kill two birds with one stone then, since you get to level up fishing at the same time. It's pretty quick anyway. 2 minutes should do it.

The slimes can be picked up while mounted. The slight increase in player height while mounted should be enough to avoid mucking around in the water. Quest is diminished to half a minute or so this way in combination with macros and V-targeting.

Completely irritating to not be able to dive into the water as the second smallest Horde race (Blood Elf). I suspect only Goblins have the joy of sifting through the goo sans nameplates or targeting macros.

I used: the macro Ruuglawhar provided above, got into a group, mounted up, marked them with a skull (which I have keybound), rode over and picked them up. Less than a minute to complete this way.

Best way to do this is probably to activate Friendly Nameplates (Ctrl+V, unless unbound).

Tried finding them without, but to no avail. Activated the Friendly Nameplates and boom! Slimes everywhere!

Unlike Orgrimmar cooking daily quest you can actually pick up the slime while mounted.

So the easiest/fastest way to do this quest is:
Mount up.
Press ctrl+v.
Right click on the nameplates when you are close enough to slimes.

You will probably collect them before you do a full round.

The Control-V worked well. I was surprised to have trouble with this quest since I had done it previously with my Tauren without a problem.

Why is the water/slime OPAQUE?

Running into the opacity issue on my low-level troll mage alt, over on the Mal'Ganis server. Funny thing is that a DK alt on the same server can run this quest without issue.

Never ran into this issue on my main. Ideas?

I did this quest for the first time today and didn't notice any opacity issues while swimming around gathering up the slimes. I also didn't notice any problems swimming around in the green goo, it was just like swimming around in the water in Org doing the cooking daily or the similar cooking daily in Stormwind.

One amusing thing I ran into was I'd try to click a slime to loot it and would accidentally click an Undercity Love Boat as it was floating by and would find myself sitting in the boat instead of looting the slime. If I get this daily again during the "Love is in the Air" event I might try fishing for the slimes instead.....:D

As a troll (and probably tauren aswell) you'll have to either make macro or press shift-v, since the water is to shallow for a troll to swim in, and the blobs will then be hiding beneath the green surface, which is to solid to see through.

You can try to fish them up, but they're wily; you might be better off just diving into the ooze and grabbing them.

Remember, they're only useful alive and intact... who'd want to eat a dead slime mold?! Disgusting.]
