Look directly south from where you get this quest and you will see a big mountain.
There is a mountain path going up this mountain.
At the bottom of the path is the Ramkahen Ranger Captain that you need to start the escort, he is with 4 other Rangers.

The escort consists of being attacked a few times on the way up the mountain and is easy (ie-they can fight it out on their own, but you should help to speed it up).

Anyways, speak to the Captain and he will start the escort.

then just wait for Ramkahen Ranger Captain's respawn.

First couple times I tried this, I ended up getting double the mobs at the top. Stick to the left to avoid pulling the rest.

The more of the rangers you can keep alive the better. I used my fear whenever it was up and had dots on every one of them.

As a 84 Mage, i found it best after a few trys, once you get to the top, have Ring of Frost ready to lay down, and try to trap as many as you can from the left.

Then release ur orb of fire to help with dps, and even mirros images if you have it available and get up close to the pack and target the ones that the npc are targeting so they die off the fastest and the npc's can focus dmg on single targets.

If you're having trouble finding Salhet to turn this in it's possible he aggro'd on the local mobs and got himself killed. I saw him fighting an Immortal Colossus when I tried to turn in this quest and the battle did not go well for poor Salhet. Seems to take about 10 minutes to respawn.

If you cant find someone to group with and are unable to solo (rogues) you cheese it by running it twice. The first time at the top leave as many of the mobs alive as you can. Then restart the escort. The second time, a new complete wave wont spawn, only what you killed. The ones from the first run wont aggro if youre far away enough. This way you only need to fight whatever is close.

I ended up duo'ing this quest as a BE shadowpriest with a Night Elf druid. I started the quest, got about halfway up, and died from poor mana usage and over aggro. When I came back, a night elf was there, and so was my NPC group with hers. When we got to the top, we both aoe'd everything down in the middle and completed it. I'm not sure if we got twice as many mobs overall or not though.

A run-to-the-top quest like the one in Icecrown with the Vrykul.

These are reg strength mobs - no need to be a hero here and take em all, because you cannot loot them, unlike in Icecrown. The starter NPC is at the base of the mountain trail, just like it says in the quest (aahh oops! the awesome quest writers failed to mention that, although it could be assumed).

Also, make sure you check your quest status at the top. I had sheeped one causing the group to ignore him (duh) and when it came time to handle the sheeped one, when I engaged him, I was fighting him myself. The rest of the group just stood there and then disappeared. Thought I had failed the quest, but it had completed while I was fighting the last one. FYI.

This is how I did it as a unholy DK - solo
1) activate the quest as previously mentioned.
2) at first level I joined in the fight one target at a time - easy as only two targets.
3) second level, joined in fight but used DnD to grab aggro of all. When all targets are dead I immediately bandaged up and followed to next level.
4) repeat step three at next level.
5) Top level - used army of the dead then dropped DnD to grab aggro and dps all targets down.
Got the achieve and there were still three we did'nt aggro to the right. - Worked a charm for me.

Lvl 84 Rogue - I couldn't make it, but the trick I found that works best is to save your cool downs, and and special abilities til the end fight at the top of the mountain. The first two waves are not bad, and in between fights, sit and drink until you are full health, then get on your flyer to meet the next wave. Once you have all of your abilities ready, about a few members of the Ranger's team will be dead, but fight what you can til the death, and then in my case - I died, but not until burning off everything I had and then sitting and watching The Ranger kill the last baddie - and while I was dead I see I completed the quest. So if you die, don't release if you get close! The whole point of the quest was that the Ranger lived to get to the top of the mountain, even if it means you died getting him there.

I don't understand all the comments above about how hard it is. you get an equal number of mobs to your patrol and they are non elites and die quickly.
Failing on this quest should be a feat of strength.

I was killed during this quest as a Horde Paladin came up with his group on the same quest (not by his NPC's obviously, but in a classic Horde style low-health gank). Released and flew back and as the last attacker fell I got credit for the quest. This was at the second stop along the torch-lit path with only one set of friendlys assisting. I did not know to spam the ranger captain.

Quest seems bugged, for me at least...

I go to the foot of the mountain and see the Ramkahen Ranger Captain. But...I can't click him to talk to him to start the quest or anything. Just a normal cursor over him.

I don't know if it's connected but one of the rangers keeps spawning and running off to fight the giant colossus nearby then respawns afte a little.

Yet another quest in this expansion which you are entirely, throughly, and 100% SCREWED if you're a Rogue. Get a friend. Aside from the lucky duck up there who managed to complete it (while dead no less) this quest is essentially impossible at 83-84 while solo as a Rogue.

Just solo'd this as an 84 *Combat* rogue:

1. Make sure that Blade Flurry is enabled so you can hit multiple targets at once. This should get you through all the way to the top.

2. At the top, wait until the enemies are clustered around you and use Fan of Knives followed quickly by Evasion. This should get all of their attention on you and hopefully you'll live through it.

Using this strategy, I only lost one ranger and used one health potion.

Another note, I triggered Recuperate as soon as I had 5 combo points in the beginning, and due to the Deadly Momentum talent, carried this through to the top.

I, too, soloed this as a level 84 Combat Rogue. I either bandaged or ate between fights, then flew to catch up with my rangers. There was plenty of time.

I helped with some of the fighting, and stayed to the left as we got to the top. I finished with nearly full health.

I couldn't do it as a Level 84 Combat Rogue. When I finally got to the top, I had three left, and they too died. Got overwhelmed.

These guys have insane HP. Takes a half a minute just to bring one down. How in the hell am I supposed to defend this group if it takes that long to bring one down?

Just soloed it on my 84 Frost DK in blood pressence. had almost no hp left but I survived (3rd try) only came here to find out if it was just me or if this quest really was that hard

How did i survive? (i am an avg player at best so i was wondering that myself too after reading the posts here, must have been more luck than skill) just burned all i had (no potions tho) used gift of the Naaru, horn of winter, ghoul, army of the dead, death and decay, blood boil, diseases, pestilence, you kno, the works, and still had less than 1k hp left when the last baddie died (and a few all of a sudden just stopped fighting).

not much useful help from this side tho, just, good luck

If your like me then you probably are gonna get really bored watching them walk up i used my stampeding roar cause i'm a druid and i'm sure other classes ones should work as well as when u get to the top theres a good group of guys heroism would be great 4 that so good luck people

Just solo'd this on my second try as an 84 assasination rogue. Trick for me was to open with cheap shot, shiv, then rupture. With my current spec, that opener gives an 80% chance to refund 25 energy, with with a high chance at an additional 10 every time rupture procs. With that I mutilate until I have at least 3 combo points on the target, then envenom. After that I immediately switched targets and repeated, letting the deadly poison and rupture take them down the rest of the way (while still gaining the energy from rupture). After the second wave, ate some sort of disgusting fish thing and was able to sprint to the top at full health before the new mobs spawned in. Repeated the earlier rotations with the addition of popping evasion after I aggro'd my third mob. Kept this up and was at half health at the end of the fight with no potions taken.

Spam clicking him before you start rushing up the hill STILL works, 3 times the people helping makes it alot easier

I'm not sure if something changed, but I can't seem to get the spam-clicking method to work these days; I've done it successfully on previous alts, so I know how it rolls, but I tried it on both my Pally and Rogue today, and was always stuck with 1 group. It also seemed like I would get a ton of extra mobs up top - like 8+ - and with only one group of my lot to counter it, it was a bit hectic. As a Rogue, I had to pop pretty much everything - Evasion, Blind, Combat Readiness, Vanish, Prep; and even then only managed barely.

Probably one of my least favorite Cata quests (especially now I've pretty much mastered the Pit of Scales quest on ranged/melee/healer)

(and my server is close to dead, so there's no 'oh, someone was there and we helped eachother' /sadface )

Spam clicking does work. It took me a couple tries of the quest to get the multiple groups, but when it worked, I had 4 sets of them running up the mountain with me.

ive just done it 20/11/11 help going up when u get to the top go left take them out u get 3 more then u get quest dont need to do kill others there ( cool)

Just soloed this as a lvl 83 feral druid... found it rly easy as when i got a bit low health i turned all my bear form CD's on : Frezied regeneration, beserk, beserking, enrage, barkskin and survival instincts. just pop em up and rush tru, good luck to all the others with the quest... a SHT class should make it tru without any probs

Other people talk about how rogues have problems with this quest and some other problems they had - read if you want but the above gives the basics.

Apparently you can spam click the Ranger Captain and get more Rangers to help you and Salhet may get himself killed, forcing you to wait til he respawns to turn in the quest.

I was able to send them up by themselves and they cleared it, I have no idea how that happened because when i went up prior I was not able to compete it.

Try the spam clicking that's what I ended up doing, good luck
