If you are having trouble turning in this quest because the questmob remains to be your "minion", you have to ride away a litte until the minion despawns and then have to QUICKLY ride back, if you are fast enought the questmob will not despawn until you could turn in the quest.

I wasn't able to complete the quest in the first place. The NPC was just following as a companion/guardian and only appeared on my Minimap as a question mark.
Even leaving and returning to him didn't work: Just as I arrived he despawned as a quest NPC and respawned as a guardian-type.
I had to leave the zone (up to Fiona's Caravan) until he was dismissed, then hurried back and quickly clicked on him and then the "Complete"-button.
This way I could accept the follow-up quest.

is it me, or is this "lovely" traveling companion the epitome of loladin facerolling?
he opens combat with an aoe to just rip threat off the "tank" and keeps aoeing when theres 1 mob left, stands in void zones, uses seal of truth for aoe, and refuses to heal himself when he is at half health.

also, stop following me while i am in stealth you nubadin!

For those having trouble completing, try disabling all your addons. You actually don't have to talk to the quest NPC to complete the quest. With no addons enabled, just click the gigantic question mark on your quest tracker and it will complete itself.

I had to run to the closest road with this NPC, As soon as he disappeared I had to ride back as quickly as I could and just 'completed' the quest, He disappeared straight away, I couldn't even readthe dialog!

Frustrating quest!

I had to leave the zone, enter Western Plaguelands, then come back before this would complete.

Quest dialog aside, this guy doesn't seem to know his lore. He says "When I was young, I used to sneak away and beat up on zombies for fun."

Problem is, Blood Elves are considered adults at 60 years old, and the Scourge invaded Quel'Thalas a little less than 8 years prior to Cataclysm, so... The timeline just doesn't really fit.

This isn't working for me at all. Tarenar just follows me around, and I'm not getting credit for anything I kill. Makes me a sad panda.

The mobs killed him while I was doing the quest, but it still let me complete it. And it gave me the next quest as if he was still alive. He doesn't regen health and it wouldn't let me heal him, so he was a lost cause.

Just look in you quest log and you can complete the quest with a click on a button.

Beware, if you use QuestGuru (and probably any other quest log) addon you need to disable it.

If he dies, then he'll respawn as a questgiver but not as a pet. Zoning out and back in won't fix it; you have to drop the quest.

A true retribution paladin, will not heal you if your health goes down.

1.2. Seal of Truth: Melee attacks cause Holy damage over 14.71 seconds.

Buff he gives others in party

2.2. Blessing of Might: Increases attack power by 10% and restores 1 mana every 5 sec.

3. Tarenar Sunstrike is level 46 with 1535 health and 1587 mana.
4. Only emoted once while I was fighting with him.
