you can get a raw jasper gem from prospecting obsidium or elementium and cut them in to jagged jasper. much simpler than wrath jc quests. i like it.

The Jagged Jasper is a base cut you learn from the trainer. The hardest part of this quest will be to make sure you have 3 Jaspers at all times. I imagine the price in the AH for this gem will be higher on average.

The best place I've found to farm the ore is in Uldum. Not many mobs around the nodes and the nodes themselves stick out like sore thumbs against the sand dunes. As a bonus, you occasionally find Pyrite in the area. My level 80 mining alt had no problems with aggro and got all the way to 525.

Handy Tip for all you Jewelcrafters:

3 of the Jewelcrafting dailies can level your Jewelcrafting skill up to 485.
After you ding 485 any of the gems that you cut for these Jewelcrafting dailies will not level up your Jewelcrafting skill.

This has been "fixed". Blizzard no longer allows jagged jaspers (or the other two JC daily cuts) to be cut perfectly.

[I was supposed to receive a shipment of jasper from Azeroth Express, but I just heard their ship crashed into some tiny island called Ogrezonia. I worry about the crew, as the giant female ogres on the island are rumored to perform horrible rituals on men who happen upon their island. My work must go on, though, and we need those gems. I've heard great things about your skill as a jewelcrafter - could you deliver three jagged jaspers by the end of the day?]
