He runs around the small island that the quest giver is on. Use the item on him and you will be able to ride him. Just take him across the north bridge to the pen and it you'll be done.

Swiftscale is on the same island that you get the quest on. He runs around the island.

He isn't a red one, but a black/grey one with some stripes on him.

I had a friend find it near the middle of the island, and then I found him on the east side on top of a random "block". He wasn't moving at all and was just standing there, got lucky to notice him from the middle. My friend says he moves pretty fast otherwise.

If you are in a group, and a groupmate completes the quest and you don't get credit for it. Leave the group then abandon and re-get the quest, the raptor will appear again for you.

He spawns when you accept the quest. If you pick up the quest and don't do it for a bit, he might be gone - just drop and re-fetch the quest to respawn him.

While I was waiting for Swiftclaw to respawn; there were a bunch of people waiting on him too, I went and got some training on the main island. On my way back to get Swiftclaw I jumped into a raptor pen, for no particular reason, and it said, even though I did not have Swiftclaw, that I had completed the part of the queste to take him to a raptor pen. So when I caught him I was able to ride him to the main island without taking him to a pen, but had to dismount to turn the next quest.

All you have to do is catch him and ride him to the mainland then dismount and just walk to the raptor pens at your own leisure. And the raptor pens are at co ords 66.1, 88.6 BTW.

He does not spawn when you accept the quest. Possibly, if it's been awhile since anyone has done it, he will spawn when you get it. But I dropped the quest three times because he wasn't showing up, and he spawned before I grabbed it again the last time. I don't know how long it takes for him to respawn, but if he doesn't show just wait a little while.

What's interesting to note that Swiftclaw will stop if you steer him into the water. He swims very slowly while you are riding him, though.

I took the quest and then headed to the main island, having misread the instructions. When I finally figured out that he was supposed to be on the quest giver's island, he must have despawned, because I ran around for about five minutes on that tiny island spamming /tar Swift and never found him. Finally abandoned and retook the quest, and boom, there he was when I hit my macro just once.

Suggestion though: He does run VERY fast, so it's possible that while you're running east he's zipping west, and vice versa. Probably best just to head to the center of the island and stay put. He'll be by soon enough, if you don't pass him on the way there.

ok i just made a troll shaman and im looking allover. I even put out a finders fee of 10 gold for anybody who has seen him and i got nothing...im gonna let it go and move on....

This quest must be bugged or something, because I couldn't find Swiftclaw until I abandoned it and picked it up again. (I've done this quest on a few other characters before and always found him right away, first time I got the quest). So if you're having trouble finding him, abandon the quest and try again.

Unlike everyone else, my only trouble is returning Swiftclaw to the pens. I've taken him to the area noted on the map - circle of wooden spikes with Bloodtalon Raptors and their eggs in it - but nothing happens. Dismounting him there gives no credit; he simply despawns. I suspect I'm either missing something glaringly obvious or it's a new issue with 4.1. We'll see what news a ticket brings.

I was having trouble with the second part of this quest too. I followed the advice of tadyll.. dismounted and then walked into the area and it worked for me that way.

i have the same problem....
I've taken him from the area noted in the map, but then i couldn't accomplish the 2nd part...
i dismounted him at area u said guys but nothink... what can i do? :/
is this a bug or somethink? :/

Yes it is a bug when you capture him and go to pens. Leave pens, walk around a little then go back in - that worked for me after about 5 min of no completion on or off the raptor.

The quest is bugged as of 4.1, the way to complete the quest is to dismount the raptor right outside the pen while facing the pen to the raptor runs into it and then follow it into the pen. I got the quest completed this way.

note: Dismounting inside the pen doesn't work, have to dismount outside and run in

What worked for me is I pointed the damn raptor straight at the bonfire in the middle of the ring, so he/she got stuck running in the same place, then simply logged off and when I logged back in I got credit. Hope it helps!

Yes, the last part of the quest is glitched by patch 4.1. What I did was mount him, return him to the pen (the one to the west of the bridge, and I pressed Leave Vehicle), and walked around the pen for a minute or two. It then gave me credit for it.

I sent a ticket to our GM. I'll edit this with his reply once I receive it.

its bugged to the point where i cant even get off the raptor now or even do anything and when i log out i end up back on the other island when i was on the main island

I had the same problem, attempting to leave just made the raptor run in place. When you head back towards the pens and there are no other raptors hanging around, then you know it is messed up. I had to log out and back in several times, abandoning and restarting the quest each time, before the quest actually worked as it should.

several weeks ago i experienced the difficulties others have described in this thread. today, however, it worked all by itself. i crossed the bridge and ran into the pen immediately to the left. as soon as i got into the pen, the game dismounted me and gave me credit.

before this successful outcome, i tried many of the suggestions given to the bugged version of the quest and none of them worked (manually dismount outside pen & walk in... log out then log in... running stuck on the bonfire, etc.). in frustration, i just ran the raptor into the pen on the left and--presto!--it worked all by itself :)

so it definitely was broken in the past but now seems to be fixed. enjoy!

I am currently (ATTEMPTING) this god awful quest and nothing seems to be working. The logging off/on, manual dismount, anything. He just runs....and runs....and runs.........this sucks!

If you accept quest, then log out, later when you log back in you may not see Swiftclaw. Just abandon and retake the quest and he will spawn.

BTW, when I rode him back to the pen, he did an auto-dismount when I entered the pen.

if the raptor doesnt stop and when u go in the pin and the raptor still doesnt stop abandon the quest and then log out log back in and accept the quest again and do catch the raptor and put it back in his pin and there its done

Since there are no Paladin or Death Knight versions of the quest chain that begins with , none of the Echo Isles quests unlock for these two classes.

Moraya was askin' for new raptors ta train. We shouldn't keep her waitin' any longa! I have a few other recruits bringin' some over as well, but I have a special one dat I've been promisin' Moraya for a while.

Swiftclaw be one of our fastest and bravest young raptors yet, but he can be a bit unruly. I'll lend ya da lasso, I just need ya to catch him somewhere on da island here and steer him over to da pens on da main isle. I doubt he'll be makin' it easy on ya though.]
