This quest rewards Macabre Marionette -- https://www.wowhead.com/cata/spell=66175 -- a non-combat pet.
The quest is obtained by going to the dalaran grave yard, which is to the right of the violet citadel, and purchaceing Orange Marigold from the vendor nearby, and useing it.

In order to get the pet:

Step 1: Buy Ice Cold Milk from any innkeeper of the major cities. (the ones in Dalaran do not sell them)
Step 2: Buy Simple Flour from any trade goods / cooking vendor in one of the major cities.
Step 3: Buy the Cooking Recipe from Chapman, who is located at the graveyards of the major cities.
Step 4: Als buy an Orange Marigold, or an bouquet of Orange Marigolds.
Step 5: Move to your own major city graveyard, as you cannot get this pet in another major city (Dalaran works aswell)
Step 6: Cook your Bread of the Dead (the fire that is needed for that is located just behind her on the graveyards of the major cities!
Step 7: User your Marigold(s), and hand over the Bread of the Dead (for the quest: The Grateful Dead!

Voila, your pet!

I've tried to get the quest on 2 characters but I couldn't. On a high lvl cook I could, so I think you need to be at a high lvl cooking to see the quest. The quest gives a compainion: "Macabre marionette" so it truly is a shame :)

215 cooking and i managed it, got 7350 xp at level 52, if that helps.
also, its not a 'learnable' pet, the item recieved dismisses and summons your pet instead of teaches you how to summon/dismiss it. so im guessing that means it dont count towards companion collecting achievments

Another instance of Catrina, and Cheerful Dalaran Spirit, are located in the Dalaran graveyard at 34,38 in Dal, outside and to the Northeast of the Violet Citadel. No need to visit a faction city except for the Ice Cold Milk.

If u never learned cooking, this recipe brings u to 40 just by buying some milk and flour.

Catrina and Chapman are inside the Ruins of Lordaeron.

To complete this quest, purchase an Orange Marigold and the Bread of the Dead recipe from Chapman, bake some bread at the Ghostly Cooking Fire beside him, and use the Marigold. You can now see the spirits and can turn in the quest.

In addition to the Macabre Marionette the quest yields experience (21150 at level 76).

If you're a warlock or have one handy, the Detect Invisilibility spell will allow you to see the spirits without having to purchase the Orange Marigold. (Yes, I'm that much of a cheapskate. >_>)

You need to go to your race's home city graveyard to do this quest; if you are a Blood Elf you must go to Silvermoon City, Orcs and Trolls to Orgrimmar, Undead to Undercity, and Tauren to Thunder Bluff. However, you can get the items from the Chapman at any GY. Once you have the bread and one of the marigold flowers, talk to the Cheerful (Your Race Here) Spirit who is standing next to its portrait to do the quest and receive Macabre Marionette.

The SMC graveyard is just east of the southern entrance to Falconwing Square. Run out of Silvermoon and follow the wall across the dead scar, and Catrina is at 48.50 in Eversong Woods.
The UC graveyard is in the Ruins of Lordaeron across from the SMC teleportation orb, and Catrina is at 68.12 in UC.
The TB graveyard is at the base of the elevators leading off from the middle bluff, Catrina is at 56.18 in TB.
The Org graveyard is on the left side of the road from Org leading to Razor Hill, Catrina is at 47.18 in Durotar.

Ok I just did the quest, got the little guy and went to Stormwind to do some shopping and hes gone. Hes not in my bags anywhere :(

It should be noted that you have to start, and can only start this quest at your characters race home city.

The recipe requires 1 cooking, so if you can't cook yet, go train to cook (anyone can do so as it's a secondary skill), trainers are located in every major city, and the graveyard is just outside anyway. Make sure to buy some milk and simple flour while you're at it to save a trip back into the city. Then buy the recipe from Chapman, and you can make the bread.
You do have to use the ghostly flame, it's the small blue fire behind Catrina.
After you've made the bread, use the marigold or the bouquet of marigolds to see the ghosts dancing around, one will have the quest.
Once you complete it you will have a temporary (boo) non-combat pet. He's really cute! :)

I can also say it is race-sensitive, and also seems to be tied to whether you know the recipe. I know the last part sounds obvious but just wanted to point that out ;)
