None of these drop from animals you've killed.

The doe hair is easiest to collect, just find three does and right click them to loot them.

For moonstalker whiskers, find the neutral (yellow) moonstalkers near the ruins of Auberdine and do the same. These will go red and attack you, however.

The bears can be tricky, as they are aggressive (red), and there can be a lot of people trying to kill them for the quest item. This is wrong, do NOT kill the bears. Watch one from afar, it will eventually turn neutral, when it does walk up to it and right click it like you did the other two. Then walk far enough away that it won't attack you when it turns aggressive again, and repeat.

Thanks so much tutti. i killed like 20 bears and got nothing and I was wondering what was going on.

The bears are super hard to do. Even when they are netral they attack me as soon as I am near and to get to me from where they are, they zoom super quickly up to me. Is it a glitch or am I doing something wrong?

EDIT: Just did it. Bears still seam a little random to me though.

Wow, i'm trying to do this as we speak and it's next to impossible, I can't get close to them without turning hostile. It's also random which ones decide to be neutral....

EDIT: I was able to do it , but it was SO random.

Finally figured the bears out...they're hungry! :) Target one and wait...eventually, you'll see the emote "Hungry Thistle Bear catches a fish!" and it will go yellow. Run up and loot.

Tip for hunters with the bears. Turn on Track Beasts, then once you notice the dot go yellow, that bear can now be gathered from.

If you are rogue stay stealthed, step back until they go yellow then step in close to loot. Remember to have a bag slot ready to recieve item. over wise the bears will turn back aggresive and attack.

Tip for Warlocks: Dismiss your demon for this quest. My Felguard would attack the bears and moonstalkers after I looted them, even if they didn't actually aggro me.

I'm not sure if the mage elemental and hunter pets are also affected by this.

I found that as a druid in cat form I couldn't loot, thats why i was originally having problems with this quest.

He wants you to not harm the animals, but have you ever seen what happens to a cat when it loses its whiskers? Poor Moonstalkers.

tutti said that the doe hair is easiest to collect, just find three does and right click them to loot them. I had a problem doing it. Each time I would right click on a doe my character killed it. What tutti forgot to mention was that BEFORE you attempt to collect the doe hair, remove your weapon. Put it back in your inventory. Only after I did that was I able to right click on the doe and instead of killing it, collect the doe hair.

If you are having trouble gettting the doe hair, but are too embarresed to post here and ask for help because people have said it's the 'easiest' to collect and you don't want someone to call you stupid (in another forum someone had insinuated that people having a problem with a different quest just needed to read the quest text before doing it, which in my opinion was like kicking the person in the teeth who only wanted help with a quest) just don't have your weapon equipped when trying to collect.

I was going to ask for help with the doe hair until I read someone said it was the easiest, then I tried it again after unequipping my weapon and it worked! :D

**If you are a druid**

I have found that if you have Prowl, to USE IT....you can sit less than 2 feet in front of a hungry thistle bear, wait for the mouse to turn into the 'collect' mouse, collect the fur, then run/swim away!

I have personally done this for 2 bears now, and it works GREAT!

Easy quest for me honestly!
If you're a druid, simply just go into cat form, use your PROWL, then sneak up to them and wait for them to catch a fish & turn yellow then go to the next bear. For the Moonstalker's same thing pretty much, and finally for the Doe's just simply remove your weapon BEFORE looting them. :)

I just noticed also with the bears that if you are fast enough, and run away before you get attacked, you will be able to loot the same bear twice. You may be able to do it all three times on one bear, but I already had one fur when I found this out, so I don't know for sure. Just wait at one bear and one he turns yellow, loot him. Then, run away a little bit until you leave combat, then you should be able to go back and loot him again.

I had about given up on the bears and therefore on running a Night Elf until I saw Tutti's comment. His instructions are good but I have two details to add: it can take a while for a particular bear to become non-aggressive, so be patient; if you have the Night Elf Shadow Meld ability, or something similar, as soon as you pluck the whisker from a sleep cat, use it and the cat may move away so you can get away without fighting it (if you want to).

Not sure about the others, but for the moonstalker whiskers. I was able to stay mounted and "collect" them.

This quest is great if you're leveling your skinning and leatherworking. A high concentration of skinnable creatures in a small area. Regardless of the fact that the questgiver asks you not to harm any animals in the collection of his reagents, you don't get penalized or anything for killing them. Just loot the items first, then kill for leather.

For the quest itself, only the bears are tedious, as it can take quite a while for one to catch fish and become pluck-able.

I read all the comments and applied what I learned from them and this still doesn't work for me. I went behind the bears, waited for the caught fish to show up in chat and as soon as I tired to collect I was attacked. so it didn't matter is it went yellow, said it had caught the fish - no matter what the bears attacked and I couldn't get the fur. This is really frustrating! I didn't have any problems collecting the first two at all!

Bug or what?
Before getting this quest i saw one of those Moonstalkers and i decided to tame it, after i tamed him i got quest and the "bag" icon started showing up when i moused over my pet, i thought i could get one of the Moonstalker Whisker, nothing but the bag icon on mouse keep showing when i mouse over pet hauaahu :S

85 going for the pet. I slaughtered the entire bear population before reading the quest text. What I get for not reading first.

[While we tend to Grimclaw, I would like you to peacefully gather some ritual materials for me from the nearby wildlife.

I need whiskers from the moonstalkers to the west- pluck them from the sleeping ones and move away quickly.

I need hair from the doe to the east, just avoid the stags.

Finally, I need fur from the bears along the water to the northeast. Wait until they catch a fish, then get the sample quickly and get away before they finish eating.

Please do not harm any of them.]
