is this bugged? about halfway through the surroundings turn dark and i can't switch between bombing/repair/aircraft mode and nothing attacks or can be attacked.

The frostbrood sentries hurt.. alot. The best advice is to take out the lot of them attacking and then switch to repair mode and put out fires and recharge your shields before switching back to turret mode and taking on another batch of frostbrood.

As long as your shields are constantly recharged and you put out fires after each wave of frostbrood, you should be all set! ^_^

this is hilarious...after i was done the quest and waiting for it to fly back I noticed Alli ships in the air and just kept unleashing turrets onto them til they burned and fell out of the sky....too funny.

This works as of Nov 29, 08. Took me three sorties to get the hang of switching from air to air, bombs, and repair, but it doesn't appear to be bugged at this point; I managed to make it all the way back to the base with no issues. Take out the mobs in the air first, repair/put out fires if you need to, and then switch back to bombing. The plane takes a good long time to finish the run; you don't even see the scourge war machines for a few minutes.

They are at the very end ... look on the ground after you start seeing the dragons and you should see the war machines. .... The dragons dont start attacking and should you fail you'll have to start the flying all over at the beginning....

Working fine as from today, very very fun mission, the only stange bug that remains is that to leave the plane if you complete early on your second run for example, there is a 'leave aircraft button' this will only work when you return to the take off/landing dome, by pressing it in the only place it will let you, you eject and are picked up by a rescue craft just as if you had ran out of health, but then the rescue craft takes longer to put you on the take off pad than if you had let the plane drop you off at the end of the mission anyway. So to sum up 1, either wait untill the mission has finished and carry on shooting for fun or just keep refreshing shield, or 2, dont do either option just mentioned and take damage to end the mission and be rescued.
If you don't succeed in one run and don't want to wait the 60 mins to take another plane, birthday suit and suicide jump from the platform to end the timer debuff.

The glitch seems to be rather hit or miss, but the debuff no longer keeps you from taking another plane so if you have to, just ride the rescue craft back and go again if it glitches on you. (Green glow on outsides goes away and plane is no longer able to shift modes.)

There's no rep reward past the first completion of this daily, but this quest is really fun, and a good challenge for anyone who can make it through the short mission in one go.

Start off by bombing - the small scourge that you had to kill in the first mission are now "Bombardment Infantry" - they're clustered more densely near the east side of the wall that you take off from, so it's a good idea to finish this requirement while you can.

On the way over, expect a lot of air-to-air combat with Gargoyle ambushers for the first part giving way to Frostbrood sentries as you fly closer to Mor'drethar. The scourge war machines are on the ground just north of the Mor'drethar wall so switch over to bombs when you get a chance and dispatch those ASAP. On the way back, shoot down any remaining frostwyrms or gargoyles to complete the mission. Use the engineering mode to put out fires and recharge shields as needed.

The best advice I can give for this quest is realize you don't have to steer the plane and that the missiles are on a relatively short cooldown, so when clearing the skies just take aim with the mouse and pound on the key to launch barrages of missiles at enemies. (They do a little splash damage too.)

Note that these are PvP planes, and since both horde and alliance have bombing runs here you may come across a plane of the opposing faction. Unload some missiles into their craft and watch em drop flaming out of the sky. You'll get a cosmetic buff known as "confirmed kill." Just watch your six for retaliatory strikes.

This is the worst quest in-game.

It's glitchy, and all I ever see during the frostwyrm phase is "Your vehicle is on burning!"

It would help if the Fight Fire button actually worked.

Most times I do this it will bug at some point during the flight. It drops out of phase, so that the green glow is gone, and you are in the non-quest version of the valley, so that some of the mobs are there and hittable (but you don't get quest credit) and some mobs that you can't usually see when on the quest (the elite giant skeletons that walk in a line) are there and also easily killable. If you can get XP for those it'd be pretty good.

The flight circuit is long, so it's a pain if you bug when you're still far away from the base. If you do, log out and log back in again. Every time I do that, no matter where on circuit I am, i log back in to find myself out of the plane standing on the side of the mountain near Ymirheim in an area free of mobs and only a short flight back to the base.

Better than waiting to be shot and collected by the rescue craft, which has a cute habit of sometimes dropping you so that you miss the base and fall down onto the valley floor or the battlement.

Tried this quest for the first time last night. Finished it in two runs.

This morning I tried to do it again, bugged. I tried it a second time and it bugged again. I tried it a third time and it worked.

The worst part for me is that I have no way of leaving the vehicle. There is a "Leave Vehicle" button that shows up on my action bar. When I click it via keyboard shortcut or mouse it highlights as if it's been clicked but nothing happens. I'm using Bartender 4, not sure if that's why. The other leave vehicle button that shows up on some vehicles in wrath, sort of in the upper left of the vehicle animation, doesn't show up for me on this. There's no buff to click off. And I never seem to die after it bugs. So I am trapped and imprisoned for a long flight - excruciating.

When you're dropping bombs, make sure you don't switch out to one of the other modes (i.e, to the turret or repair) before the bombs actually land and detonate. If you do, you won't get any kill credits.

Also, for those of you who play on PvE ruleset servers, you can attack Horde planes even if neither you nor they are flagged for PvP. Firing on them will not flag you, either. If you do shoot them down, you won't earn any Honor for it, as you're just destroying their planes. Rescue ships will arrive to save them just as if they'd been shot down by the gargoyles or sentries. If you do get attacked and don't want to fight, put out any flames, and just spam your shield refresh. No matter how much they fire on you, they won't be able to shoot you down or really even dent your plane's health. Eventually they'll be carried out of range and you'll be able to continue with your quest.

I found that I could mount up on my flying mount even though I was in the plane (graphic didn't change). And if I dismounted, I got thrown off the plane. So, don't mount up while in the bomber!

That said, this quest is buggy as hell. A real shame, cos it's really fun.

This quest is still buggy...the rescue aircraft would always come but i would just fall through its seat and die...not helping my repair bill at all >:(

Working as of February 10th. Make sure when you are in the area of the sentry you focus on them first, you will have plenty of time to kill the gargoyles. Also, when you are done and you don't want to fly around in circles for 10 more minutes let them destroy your ship. A rescue ship will such you up and fly you straight back.

Its bugged for me too, rather stupid, its my 5th try now, in my first try i got everything except of one Frostbrood sentry, i think i'll try one more time....

EDIT: This time, i cud kill a Sentry, the quest went completely normal for me, no cant-switch-bug or so, so u CAN complete it, GL and HF

The reason for the bug seems to be completing the chain which takes you underneath icecrown and has you control 'arthas' as a vehicle, in phases in various places throughout Icecrown.

The quest that bugs this one is the quest which asks you to control arthas and create 100 ghouls at the First Legion Forward Camp. I can only assume that the two types of phasing on the same spot don't work very well.

I think this because the bug first occurred for me when I was in a party with a friend who was completing that quest, and the bug occurs right at the First Legion Forward camp.

My first time doing this daily and it wasn't bugged for me...i finished killing everything as soon as i got to the war machines.

The only time I went into Repair Mode was when I was on Fire. While you're there, replenish you shields.
At the beginning, just sit in bomber mode until you get to about 3/4 HP then take out the huge group of gargoyles. Kill 20 and go back to bomber. Finish killing the big and little guys. Go back to air mode and take out any remaining gargoyles. Swap back to Bomber and hit the War Machines. Then just sit in air and kill the Sentrys(Huge Frost Wyrms). They're 3 or 4 shots...just click 3 or 4 times and they won't even have time to hit you.

Not hard at all, easy 17g

Seems the bug is fixed, I have been doing this daily and it is now a load of fun. Heres a bit of advice, take out the infantry and the ambushers asap first. Then satisfy the Frostbrood sentry, after that then go for the War machines.

Once the daily is satisfied let your bomber get attacked, attract attention to yourself if need be by firing at the Frostbrood sentry. Let them destroy your bomber, and the rescue craft will take you directly to base without going through the valley again.

Just wondering; I went over to do them and they were not available. But all the other dailies in the area are. LIke the Skybreaker quests and the others for Ebon hold, etc.

Well I finally got the hang of destroying the war machines on the next round of sorties. When you take off you will be attacked by the birds (blast as many as you can) and you need to keep your shield up and put out the fires. Watch the birds, and when they change to skeleton-looking dragons you will be over the area where you need to bomb. The war machines you are looking for have orange circular pots attached to them which I assume is molten metal or something to be thrown at the enemy. Bomb these things and complete the quest. BTW the war machines were harder to get than the others mobs in this quest series.

I can't find them and don't know what they look like. I've completed all other aspects of this quest but the Scourge War Machine. Can I get a pic of one of these things or an idea of how to bomb these thing. Thanks in advance :)

Well I ran 8 missions and destroyed no war machines so I have to wait 57 minutes before I can try again. The quest is not fun because there are way too many birds attacking the aircraft to make a successful mission possible-I was shot down every time no matter what I did. Also, like others have mentioned, I too did not know what I was looking for and dropped bombs on everything that remotely resembled a war machine with no results. All those birds make it impossible to focus on what you are doing and trying to manipulate the bombsight was just about useless.

I finally got it done the same day I posted this. Somewhere else it was said they were at the end of the run. They are after those big flying birds. So keep shooting those birds and putting out the flames on your airplane. After the initial attacks start looking down on the ground when you get near the wall on the other end of the run. They look like small catapults. If you fly over the area on your own flying mount they look like they're all aflame but when your on the plane they give you then they're not on fire. I did disable my addons as was suggested somewhere else and had no problems seeing the war machines after that, though I don't know if that had anything to do with it or not. A very frustrating quest.
