These quests represent a repeat of what was done in TBC when Wind Trader Zhareem gives away a daily quest for heroic 5-man instances. Now in WotLK, you'll see a holographic projection of the target of the day's heroic dungeon near Archmage Lan'dalock in Dalaran. It's the end boss of the particular instance.

Therefore, if you have a heroic dungeon quest from a prior day and you recognize the boss, you don't need to ask folks or abandon your prior day's quest just to find out the day's heroic.

It strikes me as slightly weird how you can only do some quests on Heroic difficulty.
Game mechanics, fair enough, but how would Blizz explain it lorewise?
Like: you loot the artifact from the chest on Normal and the questgiver says
"No, you didn't kill him heroically. Reset the instance and kill him again."
"But I have the thing you wanted!
"I said...go back and kill him again...or else."

As posted above, these quests are daily and change each day. They are shown in your questlog as the daily heroic dungeon, and award a nice amount of gold as well as 2 Emblems of conquest. I love these daily quests and have done the instance selected for that day everyday this week. I'm looming forward to finishing all of them and getting the achievement.

Slight mistake. They award 2 Emblems of ~~Heroism~~ Triumph, not Conquest.

Edit: Changed to Emblems of Triumph in 3.2

If you are in a hurry and leave without the Artifact from the Nathrezim Homeworld you appear to be screwed. I forgot, and went back, i was still locked to the dungeon and it was empty - the casket at the end was sparkling, but it wasn't possible to interact with it - so screwed :(

<name>, a friend within the bronze dragonflight has given me information that we must exploit.

The mysterious beings of the Burning Legion called the dreadlords are also known racially as the Nathrezim. Little is known of their homeworld and even that is rumor.

However, it is known that Mal'Ganis of the past has made a critical error: he left behind an artifact from his homeworld!

Through the Caverns of Time, you must travel back to the time known as the Culling of Stratholme. Recover the artifact.
