The book is contained from the object Berinand's Research Located in The Nexus (Borean Tundra) and will probably be one of the first instances you face in the expansion.
The book is found at the path before the boss Shoulders of the Northern Lights

I found it in the middle of a room full of frozen Hordes, literally. Probably easiest gained after defeating the final boss.

When facing Grand Magus Telestra's chamber, take a right down the ramp. It will lead to a frozen room with several "Horde" mobs encased in ice. The book is resting on the ground just a short distance into this room.

When you first go in The Nexus, it will be on the left path halfway down the path. You will probably have to kill 10ish mobs.

In the quest text the NPC mentions studying the "Arcanomicron." This is a reference to the Necronomicon, a fictional text from the mind of H. P. Lovecraft. This book of dark magic & summons was also integral to the plot of Sam Raimi's The Evil Dead series starring Bruce Campbell. This series has been referenced, as well as H. P. Lovecraft, throughout the game time & again.

Just as in real life, there is believed to be no such book in-game.

EDIT: According to Archmage Modera, the in-game "Arcanomicron" is actually a map showing "all of the magical ley line intersections in the world. The blue dragonflight has been using it to find and destroy ley line 'anchors' to send the magical power back to the Nexus."

For some reason I'm unable to get this quest. I've done every quest in that zone, and I'm well above the level requirement. The NPC just shows a grey ! to me.

Just soloed this as a 68 shaman. I wanted to pick up a few goodies before starting on Northrend and knew from my main where the book was. All you need is one invis potion and the ability to self-rez.

The mobs that pat inside can be dodged until you get to the tunnel leading to the frozen figures. There is a pat with a caster and two dogs. Wait for them to pat right down to the bottom and heroically die there. They have a long pat back up the tunnel. When they go, rez and heal. Take the invis and run to the book which is visible under invis.

The cast time to pick the book up is just short enough to survive being hacked by several elites who aggro when you come out of invis. Turn in and enjoy.

I have read all your comments twice,- however I'm still not able to locate exactly, where to enter this "cave"? I have been arround Nexus like 10 times without being able to locate any entrance....
Can some of you folks help me please?

Soloed as a 71 rogue. Used distract at the top of the tunnel leading to the frozen horde on the dogs and mage. Blinded the mage so she could not slow me down and when the dogs attacked and broke stealth, sprinted down the tunnel toward the horde until just out of range then vanished. Dogs broke off chase and stealthed past frozen horde to book. Died when I got the book but it was worth the reward.

You do need to self-rez or have very good stealth abilities... tried this as a lvl 70 Elven (Shadowmeld) Hunter with a bag full of invisibility potions.

Wasn't enough for me... kept getting killed within sight of the book... so in the end, I called on my guild buddies, and three lvl 80 rogues later, I got my book and my shoulders.

Oh well... when subtlety doesn't work, use brute force.

tried this twice on a level 72 shamy and got to the book by everyones instructions. Fine till I click on the book..3 mobs and interrupt me just before book is complete.....sooooo close

Can this be done on a hunter in the same way? My plan is to feign death at where im supposed to die, then in the room with the book, ill aggro the mobs with my pet and pick up the book while my pets fighting

Im level 68 DK in KIlrogg, any good suggestions in how to tackle this quest? A lot of ppl seem to be having trouble with it lol.. pst PLEEEEASE

Misha realm.......i have a lvl 79 night elf druid managed te stealth down te book and grab....didna aggro any frozen hordies. however dogs found me on way back up. died. if ya are careful ya can hide from dogs in corners down the hall te frozen hordies. (gotta love that stealth) only prob i had was commin back up have fun with it!

ok , donned with my 71 pally , verry easy just use Invisibility Potion or Lesser Invisibility Potion until you reach the frozen mobs and activate Divine Shield siple

Soloed as a lv 71 Mage, changing between Frost and Fire spec, without any heirlooms. Did it for fun, just to check how far I can get into the instance. On my way I killed everything that was unfortunate enought to block my kiting path :P Entire trip, consisting of this quest and killing everything on the way to Anomalus, took around 3 hours, but was quite fun. If you are leveling a mage, give it a try, it's a good way to practice kiting.

The quest givers for Prisoner of War, Quickening, and Postponing the Inevitable were moved inside The Nexus instance itself. I was still able to pick this quest up outside the instance, at the Transitus Shield, like usual but the turn in was also inside the instance once the dungeon was completed.

I'd love to know how to pick up this quest. Serrah shows a grey ! to me, at L77. The only quests she has listed here on wowhead that I haven't done are this one and one for L80. :(

ETA: apparently this quest is available completely inside the Nexus, so it shouldn't be listed with Librarian Serrah anymore. Hopefully the grey ! is the L80 quest...

Descrizione

Archmage Berinand is the Kirin Tor's foremost authority on Malygos. He's spent his life studying the aspect and his behaviors.

Recently, he loaned me his research on the Arcanomicron, some sort of map that Malygos is trying to assemble. I made the mistake of discussing it with a group of Horde adventurers while they were restocking their goods here - and now it's gone!

It must have been them, <class>. Please, follow them into the nexus and recover the book before Berinand comes to recover it.
