Eisenfaust and Halefnir can easily be killed with basic rotations of Cast - Schock - Root - repeat. Duronn once healed while my Earthens' shocks were on CD, I suppose you could save you shock for an interruption here. If you don't, it will just take a little longer, no big deal.

I was having an issue with this quest. I did the first two no problem. But the third, I would summon the dwarves and when I would try to get the to attack I got the error pet is out of range even tho they were right next to me.

They're not out of range of you, they're out of range of the mob. Go a few steps closer and it should work.

Duronn seems to be a bit buggy.. had him reset right in front of me 3 times trying to kite him with the earth grasp spell. Just hold your ground and blast away quickly and he seems to go down easier that way.

My team died fighting Duronn, so I took him on as a 78 DK. Piece of cake, I think I killed him faster than they did :P

edit: Also killed Eisenfaust from 100% to 0% by myself. Nuts to the 5 man team mumbo jumbo.

Our group had the same problem with no pet bar showing up. Ctrl + 1-4 worked as a work around. Also, the above listed reload ui command made the pet bar appear for many of us. After the pet bar showed up they attacked anything we directed them to. These guys work great for Loken's Lackeys as well as The Earthen Oath quests.

I've listed their abilities below in case you get the bug and can't get the pet bar.

1. Lava Burst - 2 sec cast, 2 sec cooldown.
2. Earth's Grasp - 1.5 sec cast, 12 sec cooldown. Surrounds an enemy in stone, immobilizing it up to 10 sec.
3. Earth Shield - instant cast, 1 min cooldown. Protects the target with an earthen shield, causing melee attacks to heal the shielded target. This effect can only occur once every few seconds. 10 charges. Lasts 2 min
4. Earth Shock. Instant cast, 10 sec cooldown. Shocks an enemy with concussive force inflicting nature damage end interrupting the spell being cast for 2 sec.

A spam of 1 and 4 took down all elites in fast order. Happy Questing!

Duronn is bugged as hell, can't even target him with the dwarves cause it says they are too far away. I have to pull him and then attack, but so far the dwarves disappeared always before he was dead...

By the way, for those using quest helper. DO NOT pay attention to where it says the quest turn in is.Thorim is not at the Temple of Storms. His correct location is at the Terrace of Makers (56,51), where you picked up the quest.

The entrance took me like 45 minutes to find, this place is big and annoying so here is a picture of where the entrance is. It's on a second floor balcony of the Hall of the Shaper and there are 4 Iron Sentinals standing guard. Hope this helps

By far one of the most poorly coded / buggy quest lines I've ever done, referring to the quests where you summon a group of Dwarves to fight for you. Either your pets are out of range, or some pets are in range while others aren't, or they get in range then run back to you and are THEN out of range, or a bunch of adds start attacking you rather than the pets, or the target's health resets mid-fight, or the pets disappear mid-fight,etc, etc. Good concept, utterly pathetic coding. Hopefully it gets a touch-up.

On Duronn, if you are a Lock, you can Drain Mana constantly and it will take care of his heals. Just keep having your Gaurdians to attack over and over while you Drain Mana in a constant rotation and he should be no problem. My Guardians kept dying when I wasn't draining mana because of his heals.

As a hunter I found the first two to be easy but Duronn was a pain. Because of the 100% heal. Yes, Viper Sting was the answer it will work on his mana and he will not get the heal off. After these quests I love my pet much more. These guys make for a very bad pet!

This quest is a or at least the NPC Eisenfaust is a reference to Mercedes Lackeys' Secret World Chronicles, a set of super hero MP3 Books. Eisenfaust is one the bad guys (or is he?).

Duronn stands amidst about a dozen dwarves (non elite), which (I found) would aggro very easily, and re-spawn quickly enough that it is very difficult to actally cear the area for a fight. In addition there are numerous roaming mobs who will jump in on the fight if they pass nearby (or if you get between any of the mobs and one of the drillbits that breaks through the terrace from below - 1-2 dwarves will run to each one)

I found some success with (as quickly as possible) clearing a path to the steps, summoning the minions, then kiting Duronn away from his dwarves (onto the steps). Even so, I died a few times figuring this out - watch for adds when kiting, and get past where the drillbits break through.

I died many times attempting Duronn. There's just too many adds around that aggro easily. In the end, I killed Duronn with my felguard.

I think these kind of quests that requires u to control another pet are a pain in the ass for demo locks, because its either our felguard is too good to pass up, or we become very useless when our controlled pet dies/lost control, and cannot summon our felguard immediately.

For a lock its one of the easiest quest, they are all alone in wide areas and they's quite fearable, it's just a walk in the park. Just kite Duronn away from the adds to a huge platform to his right and fear away.

This quest bugged with me for some reason, when I summoned the earthen guys, no action bar appeared.
But the elites are very soloable with DK, when the army of mine (earthen one) weren't attacking any mobs but were idling behind me, just kill them off with death strike, they hitted hardly 1k trought my 13k armor (unholy specced).
Only hard one was the windborn guy, his attacks are quite hard hitting and chain lighting makes it a bit more worse.
The quest given along with this one was also walk in the park, just death strike kill the elite ones.

This quest, together with The Earthen Oath is a pain for hunters. The earthern dwarfs will replace your pet, and will follow you everywhere, cannot keep aggro therefore cannot tank. So you have the option to kite the giants while giving the dwarves the command to cast, or use your own pet without summoning the dwarves.

After couple of attempts to bring Duronn down, finally found this solution for my Night Elf Hunter(with the help of the posts above):

1. At the base of the steps, turn on Aspect of the Cheetah and lay a Frost Trap.
2. Go at max range and shoot Viper Sting. (so he will not be able to use Reconstruct - I didn't aggro any other mob)
3. Run towards the steps and climb a few (not too much, because he will reset)
4. Turn on your Aspect of the Dragonhawk and summon your Dwarves (yes, this is the moment, so you can have them max time)
5. Hit Swadowmeld (no more aggro from you)
6. Spam keys 1 & 4
7. Job done

Worked for me. Hope it helps

It seems they don't have an auto-attack, so you have to kinda keep pressing their lava burst (I think it was) spell.

Yes, I am a hunter too :D
but I found this to be a very easy quest.
Cast Earth Shield on them, then spam Ctrl+1 and use the shock when he goes to heal.

I solo'd the first two, but thought I might give the army a go with Duronn.

This quest was bugged for me. Duronn reset several times (EVADE), killing me each time, while he was protected. He can also reconstruct. DK use Mind Freeze. Finally got him on 5th try, no bug.

Ok this might have been mentioned here already but for the Stone Guy,Duronn.

If you are a Druid,

you can do the a cheap way by what i did,is that you use your stone waders,to lore Duronn on to the bridge thats on the left of him (When your facing him).So you don't have to worry about the guards around him.When on the bridge,use entangling roots,and use your stone warders to attack him.Keep Doin Entangling Roots and your warders and You'll get the slain.

The quest is overly bugged pets dont work half the time with my dk - in the end i coulndt be assed took on my tanking gear and wtf pwned em.

The summoned earthen are completely useless, at least to me (BM hunter on greens). I only had luck when I ignored them and sent the pet in. As the above comment says, wtf pwn them.

I guess the same goes for whoever has an alternative to those goddamn earthen - they are slow and dumb, can't be healed and have an expiration date which means they WILL despawn in the middle of the fight.

a crap and poorly done quest, blizzard must have been stoned or something when they did most of the wotlk quests, it requires you to go out of your way to do quests that give you a pitiful amount of rep and/or gold.

This quest is a good example, this is one of the worst and poorly done quests i have ever seen, you shouldn't need the horn since the horn is for another quest, so you should be able to kill the mobs in this quest, since it clearly has no 'group' on here, so it should be solo'able with no difficulty, you shouldn't need to use the horn, if you do, then blizzard have poorly written this quest and should delete it or re-write it immediately.

I play this game for good quests, not these stupid quests that need you to do stupid and pointless crap to do them.

whatever happend to 'go here, kill x amount of these and return' those were good and straight forward quests, if i wanted to do these stupid things with strategy, i would play a Strategy game.

So, i really hope they get some quest design skills.

Play Duronn smart - probably can't win just by spamming damage blindly. Bring him up the stairs, and use the abilities of the dwarves. Keep Earth's Grasp on him so he can't get to you and your party, use Lava Burst to damage him. Save the the earthshock for when he attempts to reconstruct, otherwise he'll regain all of his health.

Hi, since all the comments above seem somewhere not to give all the clues to solve Loken's Lackeys quest - because the mobs and the environment are very differently combined for all the three targets, this is my beta step-by-step guide from Death Knight viewpoint - with lots of warlock tactics too:

The Earthen Oath - lava bolts shooting minions shoot at your command a salvo(=huge dps) at a target which you have chosen. They remind distantly a ranged firebolt shooting warlock minion Imp, but are much tailored for this quest. Horn of the Peaks is a can opener, so it’s better to spare some of mobs of The Earthen Oath before completing Loken’s Lackeys.

Eisenfaust Is the easiest mob of these three. You can fly over the Iron Sentinels on the balcony to the inside and call the minions and spam with lava bolts Eisenfaust down. Just target Eisenfaust once and then no kiting required, just shooting, you lucky guys. As soon as you open fire, Eisenfaust is only interested in pushing your minions around with little success, NOT YOU AT ALL. It doesn't know that you are guiding the shooting of minions, though you stand in the middle! You can find him at an entrance on a balcony with coordinates . It's on the east side of Terrace of the Makers large building with text "TERRACE" in the map.

Halefhir Stand in about middle of the stairs which start from where Duronn is It looks like a large air elemental, and doesn't have any nasty tricks, so the same tactics apply as with Eisenfaust. You can just spam it with your lavabolts.

Duronn Stand at a long terrasse right in front of the stairs which lead up to Halefhir. These stairs lead to letter "M" in the word "Makers" in the map. Duronn should, and can be pretty easily kited when Duronn is walking slowly behind your minions. They shoot while you move away from Duronns deadly stomps - AND MOST IMPORTANT: THEY KEEP THEIR TARGET AND SHOOT AT YOUR COMMAND EVEN WHEN YOU MOVE AND WHEN YOU DON'T EITHER LOOK IN THAT DIRECTION! Now this is very different from warlock class summoning!

THE DRILLS WILL KILL DURONN FOR YOU WITH VERY LITTLE KITING EFFORT!

Place your self to either side of Duronn, where you see that there are DRILLS behind you spawning from the floor. Summon your minions at a shooting distance of Duronn. This allready will wake his attention. Keep moving away from Duronn’s FEET(they devour your health if hit) towards some of the drills that spawn from the floor and shoot always after lava-bolt cool-down. If your minions despawn, don't panic and hit Duronn with your own weapons. Immediately summon minions back again and keep shooting. Duronn recognises only the shooting minions, not you! Don’t mind that Duronn may now and then heal himself to full health, he will each time when he touches a drill lose about 30% of his health. And he really does. He seems to be blind to the drills and their fateful effect. Two contacts with the drills were for him enough to get finished off from rest of remaining health with a few lava-bolts. Even though the right tactics may spare your health by 100%, I repaired my plate armory(12932) after soloing Duronn for 16g 50s – Well, I learned first how to do this. In the last try I was almost in full(16451) health.

For a hunter this quest if you use distracting shot from as close as stairs as possible, call your men with the horns, viper sting and serpent sting while viper is on CD and auto-shot while kiting in a circle on the stairs continue using pet bar, at times he'll stop charging you, shoot off your stings, and stop the rehealth, and use the pet burn or whatever....it took a few times and reading here, don't stop to worry about your bars. No time for that. Concentrate on his health at all times.

This comment is aimed directly for handling Duronn the Runewrought, because he was the only one I had serious trouble with.

Had quite a bit of trouble soloing, I'm set as a DPS Unholy DK. So my health at 78 was a little over 12k.
Died 8 times, and had to leave right after to get repairs.

But what I ended up doing, is killing the patrol when the come towards the outside of his aggro range.
Then summoning pets and using their Lava Burst to get his aggro from as far away as possible.
The pulling him onto a small 'bridge' it doesn't actually cross to anywhere.
(To your lefthand side facing him, face to face)

Then using the idea that Mymh had mentioned.

Rotate roots, fireball, fireball, fireball, roots, fireball etc, perhaps an Earthshock to interrupt a cast.

Seeing as this had failed me 4 times already with the dwarves despawning mid-fight. I added a step.

First pull to bridge, then 'root' with pet, 'lava burst' with pet, 'lava burst' with pet, 'root'
This part is effectively the same as stated before, but this portion is so easy that you can manage to keep an eye on the cooldown timer for the horn. As soon as you see the CD is up, use your own method (If possible) to keep him in place.
Chains of Ice worked perfectly for me.
Resummon dwarf pets, and repeat until target is effectively pwned.

A little more of an in-depth strategy for those that can only take 6 or 7 hits from this monster.

If you are a class that doesnt use pets ( such as a Warrior ) and you use the bartender add on....do remember to enable the Pet bar.

I finished The Earthen Oath and Halefinr wondering why in the hell these guys are standing around watching me. grrrrrrrrrr

I found it was easier to just kill the mobs solo instead of messing with the dwarves.

As a frost mage I just put my pet on the mobs for one or two waterbolts, then cast mirror image/trinket/icy veins and opened up. The bosses only have 50k health so if you are decently geared they go down really quickly.

FYI:
If you're having problems getting your earthen dwarves to do anything, then:
A: They DO NOT auto attack. you must control them with the pet bar that pops up upon summoning them.

B: Don't see the pet bar? Just log out real quick, DISABLE ALL ADDONS, and pop back in. do the quest and turn your addons back on.

I had a problem with Duronn, as I couldn't get the Earthen to attack from a distance. I'm a (subtlety) rogue 80, and I found I could stealth after summoning the earthen, move into range and get the earthen to attack without breaking stealth, so I wasn't attacked by Duronn, even though I was pretty much underfoot after the first couple of root spells had gone. However, I also took the precaution of taking out nearby mobs first, the normal way (ie at a distance). Not sure how they would react.

I approached from a column at the side of Duronn rather than down the stairs, which was my first thought. Those moles popping up in front of him worried me.

Ok.... The 3rd elite..... the easiest way to kill him is to land on the tall pillar behind and to the left of him... kill the 2 roaming guards..... and go for him using your men...... i died like 20 times trying to get him straight forward.... his lil men around him kept killing me

Duronn, was tough no doubt, I could not get him with the summoned guys...as a Frost Mage, the only way i could down him was with my water Elemental, and using Mirror Image, along with a Trinket, he full healed about half way, i thought i was done for but kept spamming ffb, and frostbolt, and he finally went down.

Prior to the encounter, i cleared all the add's on his right side, leaving the one's in front of him, and the ones to his left, alone...they never aggro'ed and he was cake, i had tryed 2 different times with the minions that you summon, but they gave up and i died a couple of times. Also soloed King Krush with the same strategy (same amount of health on the target 50K) (no i didnt take a hunters kill in Sholazar, i called out for 10 minutes and nobody seemed interested, so i took him)

Edit..for a bit of clarity, i was a fresh dinged 78

Tip for lazy Druids on killing Duronn: summon dwarven pets in a combat-free area (one they can walk from easily--they'll despawn if you drop them off the edge of a column or the like), change into flight form and hover above Duronn, spamming the Lava Burst and Earth Shock alternately (ctrl-1 and ctrl-4, respectively) till he topples--he won't have time to heal, and the whole thing will take maybe a minute. I know it's completely cracked and lacks even the pretense of skill, but after trying to gank the guy the hard way ten times in a row and failing miserably, I gave up caring.

As feral you can summon pet on the steps and then fly over above Duronn. Spam 1 and 2 and earthshock when reconstructing. Don't get aggro - was easy.

Make sure you get familiar with the Earth Shock spell before facing Duronn... or else he'll heal himself and outlast you.

The attack on the Terrace of the Makers was not a half-hearted move on my brother's behalf. He sent a legion of iron dwarves and some of his most powerful lieutenants.

Use the Horn of the Peaks to call the earthen to your side and defeat Loken's servants.

You'll find the giant, Eisenfaust, inside the Hall of the Shaper to the north. You'll find the others deeper inside the Terrace of the Makers, beyond the stairs to the northwest.
