You now have to be very close to it to do damage, which isn't good, because its hp is MUCH higher than yours.

The good part? It doesn't restore HP.

The easiest way to go about this is go up, shoot it, go down, wait for cooldown, up, shoot it, etc etc. When you get low on health, land, bandage, eat, whatever, and then just repeat. You can go afk to take a tinkle if you want, it doesn't matter -- its HP stays the same.

Or of course you could just get more than one person and pew pew it to hell.

The trick is it can't see what's directly beneath it. If you get max range directly underneath it you can use the item to wittle it's hp bar down.

To get credit you must let it see you for the final blow.

Fly below the eye just in range. he wont attack you, and get him down to 12k with the item you got. Then fly up and let him attack you, then deliver the final blow. otherwise u wont get kill.

Be sure you turn Off 'Auto Dismount in Flight' in your Interface options before doing this quest. Otherwise you will dismount in flight when using the quest item.

The Eyesore Blaster has an 80 Yard range which is farther than the eye can see you at, unfortunately 80 Yards is further than you can be to get kill credit.

Easiest way to get credit for the kill is to:
1.) Stay at max range for the gun(don't have to be below the eye.. doesn't matter where, just stay at the gun's max range)
2.) Repeatedly shoot the eye until you get it to 12.6K HP left.
3.) The gun does exactly 12.6K dmg so for the last shot, just fly in close to the eye for the last shot, and blast it on last time to kill it.

The eye may hit you once or twice, but this won't be not enough to kill you.

Fly up to the Occular (44.3, 21.6)
Fire your Eyesore Charger until your hp is low.
Fly to a landable space nearby (just fly vertically down) and heal up.
Fly back up and continue to spam the Eyesore Charger. The Occular doesn't go back to full hp when you run away.

It's as easy as that.

this is either a bug, or a change, but once you engage the eye...it wont leash, I was getting low on health so I tried rapidly descending (ima warlock and have fel armor on <392hp a tick>) I was getting attacked the entire way down and was killed mid air, this happened anytime I tried to fly away, I was marked as "Out of combat" but he just kept spamming deathly stare until boom, I was no more!

Just fly below the eye, which is located at the very top of The Shadow Vault. You will need a flying mount to get there.

Now, once there, place your item provided (Eyesore Blaster) on an action bar. If there is a red dot on it while you target it, you're out of range. If it's white, your within range. Keep max range at all times, so you won't be damaged, but still be able to attack him. Then get him down to 25 000 or 12 000 health, then fly a bit up, so he'll attack you -- make sure you're in combat on the last two hits. Otherwise you won't get the quest objective.

Easy quest.

it was so easy, just fly down the eye and use it the blaster, wont even attack you, fly close to the eye when you almost kill em to get the item

For some reason I had to get right up on him in order to use it D: ... Kept saying out of Range. I managed to finish the quest but I'd taken some hefty damage being I had to be in its range from start to finish.

According to wsuhoey, the quartermaster becomes available after the 4th quest (If He Cannot Be Turned /).

This quest is impossible to do as a druid with flight form, you get dismounted and you get placed in combat and you cannot mount back, meaning you fall and die.

I think they must have changed the quest. the range of the item you get doesn't have a longer range than the eye does. I did this on another char and it used to work as described here. Now you just need to battle it out. You should be able to out damage it.

This eye thing has a monster respawn rate.. been waiting for aaages just to even attempt to kill it...

Edit: Bugged on Bronzebeard (EU) realm, fails to respawn at all.
Basically, if you want the Ebon Quartermaster and you haven't got it already, you're screwed on that realm. Not sure if any others are affected.

Double edit: GM has been notified, should be fixed soon.

At level 80, he did 11500 damage to me before he died, with a dumb spam Eyesore Blaster strategy.

He does 868 shadow damage to you each hit every 4 seconds.
You can do 12600 physical damage to him every 4 seconds.
He has 126k hp.

For some reason, the ocular is stuck at 1 HP forever for me. Anyone know how to fix this or what?

Still bugged as of 4/22 on Zul'Jin. Got him to 1 hp, and then he stops taking dmg. Flew from beneath, shocked him for the kill and fell to my death. Luckily there is a GY close by.

So apparently you cannot die from this eyes damage. Went afk after killing it and I come back to it shooting me with 1 health left. Wouldn't kill me. So just go up to the eye and shoot it on cooldown. No worries about dying.

They changed it so the range of the Blaster is less than the range the Eye will aggro and attack you. So they strategy I used was:

1. Fly up directly in front of the eye, almost on top of it.
2. Attack it until you are low on health (I got the Eye to less than half-health).
3. Fly directly down using X until you land on the roof while still targeting the Eye (You will not the Eye stops attacking but you are still in combat).
4. Heal.
5. Fly up and finish off the Eye.

The start of a very long two-part quest chain that ends in the Battle at Valhalas.

Overall, it gives over 400g in pure money and then some if you choose to sell the items you get as a reward.

Well if you're playing WOW and don't know who Sauron is this could have something to do with why you're never invited to raid.... I imagine everyone else knew where this was heading the moment they met their DK.

Anyway, I don't what all the fuss about strategy is. As of 3.2 you just fly up to the eye and blast away. His "death stare" seems to damage at 50 - 60% as your "eye sore" blaster, comparatively. So, just get in range and spam. No need to drop out and heal, he can't keep up. THE END.

to be honest ou dont need to worry bout distance on most classes, i was on my hunter, and flew pretty much straigh up to it with 13k hp, and won with half health left, just make sure u use it on each CD straight away ;)

Solo'd as a 77 MM Hunter. ~11k HP, didn't need to use any type of heals. Just straight up spam the quest item. He did 564 damage to me each time. I ended the battle with about 4k HP.

Alright, so I did every possible quest to try and open the quest chain to get The Shadow Vault open to start getting rep with The Ebon Blade on the Horde side. Nothing has worked so far. I did all the quests in Zul'Drak, the starter quest in Dalaran to open the quests on Orgrim's Hammer, and I also did many of the starter quests in Icecrown. Did I miss a quest some where in Borean Tundera or in Howeling Fjord somewhere?

It was extremely easy for me at lvl 82. I flew all the way to the top of the Shadow Vault and started to hit the objectives button for the Eyesore Blaster until it was finished. I got right up on it and it nearly took half my hp. That's all it was.

Located at 44.3 21.6 in Icecrown. It is located at the top of the tower. Use teh Eyesore Blaster on the eye when within range.

Thie was really easy.....Just get into range and shoot it 5-6 times!....I got the credit right away.....

Apparently the only way to do this if you don't have a buttload of hitpoints is to hit it and back up. If you just get in range and click the button every time it comes up you will prob lose.

The sucky thing is when you back up you got out of combat. The eye does not regen its hp, but it leaves it open for some asshat (in my case a Night Elf Hunter, go figure) to come in and get it.

I killed this thing three times solo and didn't get credit for it. It wasn't 'til someone stole it while I was fighting (the bar went gray) that the kill finally counted towards my quest. Whatev....

Recommended order of Icecrown chain-quests:
1) Shadow Vault quest chain (starts with a breadcrumb quest Preparations for War),
2) Argent Vanguard and Crusaders' Pinnacle quest chain (starts with a breadcrumb quest Preparations for War),
3) Orgrim's Hammer quest chain (starts with Orgrim's Hammer as a side-quest form the Crusaders' Pinnacle quest chain),
4) Citadel footsteps quest chain (starts with Blackwatch as a side-quest form the Shadow Vault quest chain and Opportunity as a side-quest form the Orgrim's Hammer quest chain).

if you are a Druid and never bought a flying mount, remember that you can use 150 Champion's Seal to buy a flying mount on the Quartermaster in the Argent Tournament Grounds.

Descrizione

The Knights of the Ebon Blade want to take the Scourge base known as The Shadow Vault to the northwest. I have a contact in their group who has asked for help.

The first step is to blind the Lich King. He's using a device known as The Ocular to watch the area, which floats above the vault's spires.

Our goblins have created something for you to use against it. After the 'eye' has been destroyed, find Baron Sliver on the vault grounds. He's pretending to still be under the Lich King's will.
