Note, you can fly inside the cave (not sure about vehicles), so you can fly up to the top, plant the bomb, kill the mob, and then jump down into the pool of water and only have to actually fight 4 or 5 mobs the whole time.

I don't think you have to get out all that quickly. You get a debuff that tells you the cave is collapsing, but I took my sweet time getting out and nothing happened. =/ So... feel free to kill some mobs along the way if you still need it for the other quest. =D

I noticed while doing this quest, that if you jump on top of your barrel after placing it, and then place it again and jump on top of the new one, you can create a tower of barrels on which you can stand

i dont know if it was a glitch but i was able to fly on my mount all the way up there...but if you fly too high you will get dismounted...and btw buy "up" go to the back of the cave and turn and you will see a ramp going up XD took me forever to find

The coords for altar are ok - 50:77. It is however good to know that from the first similar altar looking structure where you meet at least two tough small beasts and one soft big beast, you need to continue the spiral formed cave counter clock vise four or five floor higher and find in each floor similar looking altairs with respective number of beasts - which respawn fast. At the top you will find an altar labeled as Frostgut's Altar when you point it with mouse. And then it's kaboom time. The cave starts to shake and most of the beasts will let you go away in peace - if you left any alive [-|):0=| Schwesterdk lvl 79 undead dk.

Take a good look through the gap in the wall behind the altar.

You get a bit of insight into magnataur and what they worship.

Note this quest is phased, so you can *not* invite a friend to assist. Even if you're in the same party, when they arrive at the cave, they'll be at a *different* cave than you. You will *not* see them, they will *not* see you, and you'll both be killing different mobs. Your dot might appear on their minimap, but that's all. If you both meet somewhere else, everything will be normal. I fooled with this a long time before I realized the problem. Don't make the same mistake. I don't know if two toons both on this quest can party together in the same 'instance.'

an interesting nitbit is that above his alter is an opening in the cave wall revealing a titan contructed area. Similar to a few of the other mountains in the area.

Just a side-note comment of sorts... but I magically found this quest for the first time about 2 weeks ago (had 3 toons do Storm Peaks during Wrath and never found it). There is no quest (that I've ever found) that leads you back to him after you do the other quests, and yet completing his quest will get you the quest that sends you to your faction specific quest hub... bad design imo.

As of 2/11 this quest is bugged, I've been all thru the cave at least 4 times and there is no Frostgut altar being recognized to set the explosives. Definitely NOT 50,77 as says here,I just get the message no matter where I am in there that it requires Frostgut's Altar.

Could have been that my pc/addons were acting up, but something kept breaking stealth for me throughout this mission, particularly right at the entrance to the cave. Restarts/reboots did not fix the problem. Eventually completed the quest non-stealth which for a muti rogue is not as easy.

After much trial & error, I found that it's not at the "back" of the cave... it's UP in the cave. You'll walk in, and one of the paths leads you up in a spiral. When you reach the top, you set the explosive at the altar, and then Frostgut shows up. After I killed him, the altar exploded, and you can jump down into the water. You can outrun the guys at the bottom and then exit the cave.

Gino at Garm's Rise wants you to plant the Hardpacked Explosive Bundle near Frostgut's Altar, kill Tormar Frostgut, and then escape the cave before it collapses on you.

Hey there! Joining us for the assault I assume?

I've got a special task for you... we're going to bring the whole cave down on their heads! Towards the back of their cave, you should find Frostgut's Altar. Sneak up and plant this hardpacked explosive bundle somewhere close to it.

Once the charge is placed, stick around just long enough to make sure Frostgut bites it, then get out quickly! There's no knowing how long the cave will last once that thing goes off!
