Yea, must be some sort of pre-req; I just did all the available quests @ Vor'takh's camp area and still nothing. Im level 77 so i should definately have access.

For some reason you can actually 'question' Gavrock before you even have the quest, although it doesn't effect anything.

After you complete Pounding The Iron he offers the quest.

Every one of these comments are wrong. I have not done Pounding the Iron or The Runic Prophecies, but I still can get this quest. I am looking at the quest giver right now and he has this quest for me.

I have done these quests:

The chain starting with "The Expedient Ally"
The chain starting with "The Unexpected Guest"
The quest called "The Horse Hollerer"

Some of these might be precursor for this quest, but I don't know which. I can confirm that you don't have to do anything else but these quests though.

Um im reading some of the comments above and they are saying you have to complete The Runic Prophecies for this quest to become available.
that is wrong because i have The Runic Prophecies and In the Name of Loken in my quest log at this moment.

I have Pounding the Iron and The Runic Prophecies along with this quest in my log right now. This quest was either changed in 3.0.9, or there have been other prereqs this whole time.

I wasn't offered this quest until I came back to turn in An Intriguing Plan and having done a number of quests in Eastern GH (along with the quests for the two NPCs this quest sends you to question).

Hugh Glass MAY be a possible reference to "Hugh Jass" from the Simpsons, a man at Moe's Tavern, which answers the phone and backfires Barts attempted joke.

I actually found I was unable to get this quest until i turned in Free At Last.

I haven't completed any of these:

There is a LOT of historical misinformation about this quest, and NOBODY actually got it right. The private servers were wrong, the Wowhead comments were all wrong, and even Wowhead itself is wrong. I just spent two hours validating every potential possible sequence of quest completions on the official Wrath PTR and can definitively state the following:

In reality, there are two possible pre-reqs for this quest. You can either complete Free at Last, OR complete The Runic Prophecies. Without starting either other chain, completing ONE of these pre-reqs is enough to unlock In the Name of Loken.

Deciphering the Journal unlocks Pounding the Iron, but Pounding the Iron is completely unrelated and completing it is both not required, and by itself does not unlock Loken.

In addition, Questie has just been updated with these correct requirements, so hopefully there shouldn't be much confusion in the future.

The iron dwarves stand as one of the fiercest and most coordinated foes in Northrend. Wherever we have traveled, they have battled us with the name of Loken on their lips.

We must learn who this Loken is and what he seeks. The locals may be of help.

To the northeast, at the Redwood Trading Post, a human named Hugh Glass peddles his wares. Further east, at the Ruins of Tethys, you'll find a stone giant named Gavrock. Ask them about this Loken. They've got to know something of use.
