The trapped calves are in the fields around 54,41. If all you see are unsprung traps, just wait a bit and trapped mammoths will respawn. To free them just select the trapped calf and use the hammer you were provided.

I really enjoy playing WoW and, like most of us, get a big kick out of the references and inuendos ingrained in the game but this quest line has gone too far....

As an animal lover and professional pet groomer I believe in animal welfare, but I am a staunch opponent to P.E.T.A. and everything for which they stand. P.E.T.A. is an animal RIGHTS group. The words may sound similar but the objectives are totally different. Animal welfare groups are about making sure animals are treated humanely. Animal rights groups are trying to put an end to ALL animal ownership. This not only means our beloved house pets, who many of us (myself included) regard are family members, but also zoos, farm animals, service animals for the disabled (eg seeing eye dogs), mounted police units, dogs used by the military and police, search and rescue dogs and the like.

I resent this reference to P.E.T.A. and, unless Blizzard removes it from the game, I will be boycotting this entire quest line. I hope others who have similar feelings about this organization will do the same.

edit: I play a Druid as my main and that just further infuriates me that Blizzard would use Druids in reference to this organization.

The quest is one of the fastest quests,just dont circle around the coords given above but walk all the way to 55.20 is full with trapped calfs,i did for 3-4 min.

Note for people without coordinates - these are not the traps to the south of the D.E.H.T.A. camp that sparkle (those are for the carribou fur), they are to the north just to the west of the road that runs by the camp with the mammoths. Not sure why, but this confused me for a bit.

Hello. i have a question for this quest, its coz the name of D.E.H.T.A Trap smasher, is not that name there is typed on my character when i got the item, Its Named HeartSlicer... Is this a bug?

I cant free the calves with this other weapon i got from the arch druid.

Easy quest but I don't like the fact that the quest item has a 20 second cooldown. Also shared with the fur trap for other quest in area. I think this was only imposed to slow down questing during launch.

I tried using the trap smasher but it didn't work. The thing NEVER broke the traps,however, when I accidentally KILLED the calf, Then the game registered me as freeing the calfs. Somehow, I don't think killing them was what D.E.H.T.A had in mind when they said free them...

although the cooldown of the trap smasher is longer than wanted, it is a fairly easy quest and is part of the achievement, D.E.H.T.A's Little P.I.T.A

One of the trapped mammoth calves appears to be bugged, as it isn't responding to the trap smasher.

If this happens to you, find another trapped mammoth calf and the trap smasher should work fine.

This is my favorite quest in the game. I feel so good when the little baby mammoths get up out of those traps, I get all tingly and happy inside. I almost want to keep it just so I can keep breaking the little mammoths out of their traps forever.

This is one of those quests where the goal is not so obvious. The traps are easy to find. But you need the ones with the calves already trapped. Looked for calves lying on the ground. Then use the hammer you were given with the quest. Just avoid the parents because if you kill any animal you can't turn in the quest till the cooldown expires.

It's the whimpers that drive me to madness, <name>. You can hear them, carried by the wind. The mammoth calves, trapped in the hunters' vile traps, call out to us.

Take this hammer and smash those traps. Free the calves!
