Repeatable, and is one of the best ways to get CE reputation up, barring running Coilfang instances.
The drop rate is fairly good, with some mobs dropping both of their ears.

It's a good thing they added an easy way of getting reputation with cenarion expedition as it is one of the few factions in outland which has a reward which will be nice even for level 80 (the flying mount).

Minion of Kaw (click for locations) is my favorite mob to farm for these, since they hang around in a very tight little bunch, but the drawback is that you could accidentally AoE Kaw if someone is on the quest for him.

My second favorite location is that area just to the east of Valiance Keep with Northsea Mercenary and Northsea Thug. There are two areas where they also really congregate tightly.

Probably the fastest way for most level 80 characters to build up Cenarion Expedition rep without just emptying the AH of expensive Coilfang Armaments.

The idea of giving rep in wotlk content for a BC faction while keeping straight witht the story of the game was good, however 150 rep is too low, before doing that quest I was trying to guess, how much rep I hoped it would give if the game was well designed, I kept saying to myself "since there is really too few mobs that drop them and 15 ears, a very old faction worth almost nothing, and should be be more worth it than doing old content heroics, than Probably it will give me 500 rep", then I thought well even if I'm wrong, it will be 300 at least, then I turn it in and 150....I couldn't believe it, the poster above saying its the best way to get rep for cenarion is just licking up Blizzard... yes new content is good but no need to say mindlessly that every single thing implemented is well designed when it's clearly not...
It's the best enjoyable way since you can up this rep while being in northrend, and you mindlessly negligeated the key, it's not the fastest way...
I will keep running Underbog at least me I'll get both Sporegarr and Cenarion simultenaously, what about that eh?

To get from reverred to exalted with your ears thing you need 2100 of them= 3000 mobs.

It's a fun way to get rep with cenarion expedition but in no way fast. Wanna make a race ? I'm taking the bets all in.

Loot Crazed Diver are my favorite to farm for these. Also being an herbalist you can not only farm these guys for ears but also collect tons of Tiger Lily as you do it which takes some of the strain off the grind....and if you get bored Musselback Sculpin schools spawn here. So there is a lot to do on this little pond which is very close to the Expedition Camp.

Very Very easy.

Drop of any poachers or guys that look like they hunt animals.

Can be found nearly everywhere on the open plains and is a very good way to get rep with the Expedition up.
250xp rep per 15 ears is the amount I get.

This is probably another reference to Oxhorn's videos. In almost all videos Oxhorn insults the elves of both factions and usually there's mention of cutting of their ears and using them for various things. So it's only natural blizzard would turn the tables and have D.H.E.T.A. a group of mainly night elves, start taking ears from the other races of Warcraft. Revenge is so very very sweet! >:)

I did a bit of informal testing this evening to see how fast I could earn rep with these Minions of Kaw. I read about them in the comments for Coilfang Armaments as an alternative to grinding those for rep. After trying them out for the first time last night, I was so impressed with what I got for so little work, I wanted to see what the exact numbers were.

It took me 44 minutes to collect 200 ears. That's a rate of ~273 ears per hour. That's 18 turn-ins of 15, with 3 left over. The 18 turns of 150 reputation points each gives you a total of 2700 rep per hour (2970 for humans). Pretty good considering how easy it is to grind these mobs at Level 80. I never once had to wait for a mob to spawn, I could go from corpse to next target practically instantly. In fact, sometimes as I was looting a corpse, it's replacement would spawn right on top of me.

Looking at it another way, it'd take about 7 hours 42 minutes of grinding (not including turning in, emptying bags if necessary, or anything else--just pure grinding) to gather enough ears to go from 0/21000 Revered to hitting Exalted.

Do watch for the yell that Kaw gives when he's about to enter combat, and be courteous by trying to avoid tagging him before the quester does. (I accidentally did this once, and almost again on the respawn, but I stood there and took his attacks for a few seconds while the quester got his act together. At Level 80, he--or I should say, his mammoth, who's really attacking at first--doesn't hit very hard.)

If you go after a minion that's attacking a mammoth, watch your AoE to avoid aggroing the mammoth. Unless you don't care. I did care, partly for RP reasons, and partly because wasting a few seconds on the mammoth was a few seconds not grinding on minions.

On a side note, during the 44 minutes it took me to get the 200 ears, I also looted 56 frostweave cloth, 3 green items, and one blue BoE ring. I didn't keep track of how much coin was looted. I also did not keep track of how many minions I killed, although I would estimate it at somewhere around 200 as well. I don't see drop rate info for the ears, but it seemed like an average of one ear per minion. Some had none, some had one, and some had two. I think it averaged out to about one per minion, as I said, but again, I wasn't keeping tabs on that data.

I agree with JJR152. Whether you should grind these or go do the normal Steamvaults is a tough decision. With my feral Druid in about t8.5 gear I can do the instance in about 30-40 minutes and get close to 3k rep with good drops on the armaments. OTOH, farming the ears is slower but you also get green drops which can be disenchanted or sold and frostweave cloth which is also salable or used in first aid. This allows you to do several things at once.

If you have a well geared toon and all you care about is the rep, SV is probably the better bet. But if you are trying to max your gold or level enchanting or first aid then the ears are probably better.

I was farming these today, and I was getting an average of 10/minute. I spent an hour just running in a circle dropping Minion of Kaw, and I had 600 ears to turn in. The Minions spawn so fast I had 2-3 pop up on top of me after I killed one.

I have completed this quest but wowhead profile is saying I have not done it.

I have done it again, uploaded with the profiler and refreshed and it still says I have not done it.

Anyone else experienced this?

Please note that Add-ons (Such as EveryQuest) and the Wowhead Profiler do not count this quest as completed even if you have done it. This is because it is one of the ~Pick up and hand in with one click~ style quests, or one of the special repeatables which are scattered around the world which don't actually seem to treat themselves as real repeatables. Even if you query the blizzard servers for your completed quests, this quest registers as incomplete.

Maybe this will change in future, but is valid as of the posting date.

If you are still leveling, I'd recommend killing the Northsea mobs instead of the Kaw ones. They are (almost) as quick to kill, but reward far more experience (At Level 75 a Minion of Kaw was about 160 XP, a Northsea mob was ~1500 ).

Farming non-stop for exactly 60 minutes gave me 286 ears, which equals to 19 turn-ins, which in turn equals to 2850 Cenarion Expedition-reputation.

Or, to me as a Human, 3135 reputation.

By far an easy way to quickly get CE rep, and in my opinion better than running coilfang.

Minions of Kaw are the best ones at Kaw's Roost. Good numbers there, quick respawns, 1-2 ears per drop.

Easy as a BM Hunter with a bear for a pet (bear in passive), just run around, gather 2-3 up, set pet to defensive, he will aoe the mobs to keep threat, set back to passive, run around get a few more, repeat, then once you get a nice amount, set pet to defensive and MD to pet, and AOE the crap out of them.

Took me a few hours to get something like 10 stacks of ears.

Nice and easy.
