I simply found him passed out on a table inside. This could have been because someone else spoke to Olga.

When I try to hand in the gold, it doesn't get removed and nothing else happens. It might be an addon of mine interfering, but anyone else have the same issue?

Had exactly the same problem. So i disabled all addons and tried again, and then it worked at once. Then re enabled all addons again, never bothered to figure out which one it was.

If Jack's passed out when you get to him you simply have to click on him to loot him.

But it is more fun watching him throw up and pass out.

Same problem, so I disabled add-ons one by one. From what I found what the EnhToolTip add-on that makes Olga un-bribable.

Very funny quest xD Go into the only house at the Point, go up the stairs and speak to Olga, the Scalawag Wench. You'll have to bribe her with 1g. She'll go and speak to Jack Adams, and give him a free drink. He'll laugh and drink it, then fall to the ground.

Run up to him and "discreetly" check his pockets. You'll receive Jack Adams' Debt.

Go and speak to Taruk and receive your reward of 15100 EXP and 9g 40s 00c.

For those of you having the "can't interact with Olga or Jack" issue:

It is definitely an addon causing a conflict. I tried the above suggestion of disabling EnhTooltip, but that didn't work.

Instead:

Quit out of WoW.
Go into your "Program Files/World of Warcraft" folder and rename your Cache, WTF, and Interface folders (I just added a "2" to the folder names).
Get back into WoW, now with a clean slate. You'll now almost certainly be able to interact with Olga and Jack.
After you're done collecting Jack's debt, quit WoW and delete the newly created Cache, WTF, and Interface folders.
Rename your old ones back (in this case, I just deleted the "2" I had previously added).
Start up WoW and carry on.

I got also problem with addon interference.
I disable one by one (thanks to LoadIT to save time) and found the addon 'Dhask's Flightmap v3.0-1' cause the problem. Turn it off, and the npc reacts normal. But it costs me 3 gold to find it out. Och well...

You can also wait for another player. Remember you must do it before he stood up again. I timed it around 20 seconds.

De-activating did allow bribing, but I couldn't click on the passed out Jack. Cursor remained combat cursor. Had to delete cache wtf and interface (guess you could do with temp renaming interface and wtf).

add: weird thing was: all npc's remained hostile (that is cursor remained combat cursor, even though clicking gave message friendly target) so again had to rename interface and wtf to complete last quest ...

Dhask's Flight Map mod was causing the Olga money block for me. Disabling this let me bribe Olga and complete with no problem.

a) Yes, it works for Alliance. Moving on.
b) Yes, I was unable to bribe her with my default addons. Disabling EnhToolTip didn't help, nor did disabling Out of Date Addons. However, disabling Dhask's Flight Map did work.

This is the most screwed up work around i ever had to do for a quest, considering the problem was a "Flight Path" mod.

Renaming the interface and wtf folder works but I wasn't happy with that. So if you want a permenant way to fix this with out naming and renaming folders, just do the following:

1) Turn off the Flight path Mod mention in the posts above.
2) Go into the WTF folder
3) delete the "Flightpath.lua" and the back up version in the SavedVariable folder and your character name folder.

This will remove the hostile glitch that are on the NPCs without you removing everything or changing your settings.

I had no problems with my addons, but they are just quest helper and mapster (for coords and notes)
However, in this area QH was off with things like the location of the cave and 2 others. Not by too far, but enough.

There are 2 of us and with this quest (jack) you don't need to bribe the waitress 2x; just once and both can talk to jack.
Save an entire gold piece, lol.

I also had the addon issue. So I abandoned the quest and reaccepted it.
Well someone else had just given the drink to him.
So, I was still able to grab the money from him and not even have to pay to bride Olga.
The other BE wasn't in a party with me either.

Not an issue with add ons I am using
Step 1. locate Jack inside the building @ 35,79
(hes a pirate dancing on table)
Next you need to bribe Olga the barmaid/ wretch (costs 1 gold)
Step 2. Buy (the bribe) from her.
Step 3. She offers the house a round (like most bartenders trying to steal your gold-LOL)
Step 4. Jack gets drunk, and Walla while he is intoxicated you will auto loot what ya need
Step 5. Go turn it in! Gratz

Dhask's Flight Map addon not only causes the Olga money block but it also prevents you from any ingame quest-type purchases that utilize the Accept function, including purchasing Dual-Speccing.

I was about to start this quest when I was notified that the server would be performing a routine restart. I closed WoW, waited a few minutes, and started it again. I don't have any add-ons, and my character is Alliance. When I logged back in, all the NPC in Scalawag, including the pirates and quest-givers and whatnot, were red, and appeared with the enemy/combat cursor (a sword). Yet when I clicked on them or attempted to attack them, the game said this was not possible, as they were "Friendly Target"s. The NPCs still have silver question marks over their heads, but I can't engage them in dialogue. This doesn't appear to have affected anywhere else in the game. This makes me wonder if what people had said about these being "Horde-only" quests was actually supposed to be the case, and WoW just fixed it in the interceding moments. Thoughts?

I had this bug without any addons, you can't interact with jack because all the pirates except the barmaid are red. I followed previous posts, deleted cache, wtf and interface folders and it didnt work.

I resolved this by leaving the area entirely (previously I exited game right there at the spot), exiting the game, deleting cache, wtf and interface, re-enter the game, fly back to the area and everyone was green.

I have another solution for the problem you can just kill Jack and grab the mney nothing happens if you kill him its the same result.

I had the same problem as many others have noted: I logged out in Scalawag Point, and when I logged back in, the NPCs were red to me, and I was unable to interact with Jack, even though I was able to bribe Olga. There was a significant difference between my experience and all the previous comments, though: I do not, and have never, run a single addon. Obviously, the problem is not caused only by addons. What I did was so extremely simple, you may want to try it before you go about clearing caches, disabling addons, and all the other user recommended actions. I hearthed out of Scalawag Point (my hearthstone happens to be set in Dalaran - I presume leaving the area to anywhere else would work), I exited the game entirely, I logged back in, and flew back to Scalawag Point. All the NPCs appeared friendly again, and I was able to pickpocket Jack once he drank his rum.

Having some trouble trying to bribe the wench. When I hit accept to pay her the gold, none of my money is deducted and she just stands there. Don't know if it's a glitch in the game or what but I tried to log off and back on several times and still no luck. If anyone can give me a hand that would be great, thanx.

Our next customer, Jack Adams, won't be the pushover that Harry was. He spends all day drinking with his friends, tough pirates all of them. Let's not use force this time, could get ugly.

See if you can use his drinking habit to your advantage. There's only so much alcohol someone can handle before passing out.

Maybe one of the bar wenches will be of assistance. Once he's out, see if you can slip your hand into his pocket and get what's mine.
