Talk to the guy by the landing pad near where you get this quest, he will tell you how long until the next assault. When the timer is up, a squad of riders will head out to Bash'ir Landing, they stop at the Bash'ir Crystalforge (the same place you trade in shards for the magic buff potions). So if you aren't present when they take off, you can just meet them there.

There is no quest to accept for this as far as I can tell (though I'm only friendly with the Skyguard). What happens it that waves of monsters start attacking the crystalforge area that the riders landed at. You fight them off as long as you can, at "checkpoints", the main researchers sends off a flare that calls an NPC. The NPC sells 4 different buff potions for 10 apexis shards each, (don't recall all of them, things like +20 crit rating for 2 hours persists through death). They are similar to the other potions you can buy with shards, they only work in blade's edge and Gruul's Lair.

After that drink NPC came, the waves of monsters became entirely elites and we were overrun (there were 5 of us fighting aside from the NPCs).

I'd imagine the longer you fight, the more checkpoints you reach and different things happen (like more vendors with rare stuff or something). 5 was not enough people to do this (though we weren't all partied).

I'd suggest getting as many people as possible to do it, use general chat to call for help from the whole zone if you can. The rewards seem to affect everyone who is present.

Hopefully some of you out there will get farther than we did and can share what happens later on.

One last thing to note is that once we were overrun the potion seller disappeared, so it seems you can only buy things during the fight, not after (unless you win, I'd assume).

It seems (at least on our server) that the assaults happen on every even hour (12, 2, 4 etc...).

You will need a group of atleast 25 to complete this event, I suggest you bring 30 or more and be organized.
After the first wave is defeated you can buy unstable flasks from https://www.wowhead.com/cata/npc=23243
Defeat more and you get to shop unstable gems from https://www.wowhead.com/cata/npc=23244

At this point there will be total chaos, with many elites spawning along with
The Grand Collector, https://www.wowhead.com/cata/npc=23333
Kill him several times, as he seems to regain his powers, and protect the npc's.

The NPC's only stay a few minutes after the event is completed before they leave.

If you do want to complete this event and are not enough players, you can team up with the other faction to have enough manpower to defeat the spawns.

Some notes:

A *lot* of mobs spawn for this event, and they *keep* spawning! Eventually, these include elites.

You don't have to follow the NPCs in. In fact, they go faster than the standard mount speed. Instead, get ahead of them. They land at the Bash'ir Crystalforge: https://www.wowhead.com/cata/object=185921.

Some towers spawn that lob bombs with an AoE. These are non-elite, but take a lot to kill. It's possible that they are responsible for summoning more, but that's not clear.

If the NPCs survive long enough, one will spawn that sells flasks (any kind you'd want) for 10 shards each. The flasks only work in Gruul's Lair and the Blade's Edge plateaus.

After that, there's one that sells rare-quality gems for 40 shards each. Finally, there's one that sells meta-gems (160 shards each) and items that appear to be related to summoning outdoor mini-bosses.

Some of the NPCs in this quest repeat lines from the movie Aliens. Fun quest, and very hectic. My group (Prot War, Fury War, Holy Priest, and Marks Hunter) was able to stay alive until the siege towers began attacking heavily along with elite mobs.

Something to note is that the flasks are purchased with apexis shards, but they do not BOP and thusly can be put in the AH. As this quest is the only way to aquire certain ones (of the soldier, etc.) that may be a way of making some decent gold.

Assault on Bash'ir Landing!

The following guide is a compilation of zone, quest, bestiary, loot, and comments from various sources.

No comments offered specific names for elite mobs so some error is very likely. A Boss loot table is available for the Bash'ir Reckoner which is actually random world drops for this zone. The final boss is called The Grand Collector who has no loot table.

Survival of the NPC vendors is mandatory for completion of all three Phases. **NPCs cannot be healed.** An easy way is consecrate, and they won’t ever get hit except by the last boss's AoE bolts. Using two forces to 1) defend NPCs and 2) assault the waves of spawns will need to be organized.

We recently attempted this with a balanced group of 15 (3 tanks; 3 paladins; lots of ranged dps) Kara/Heroic geard players and vent. We only had one death at the end of the event, but unfortunately the NPC died from the final boss. During each phase, the mobs will spawn in a 180° arc a short distance from the NPC. If you keep your two teams close to the NPCs, the mobs will come to you in groups of 3 or 4 which helps to avoid body pulls.

Completion of Phase I summons the Aether-tech Assistant Potion Vendor – requires <10 participants
All flasks cost (10 Apexis) and may be purchased in quantity of 1 or 5. Search Aether-tech Assistant for details.

Completion of Phase II summons the Aether-Tech Adept Gem Vendor – requires <20 participants
All gems are (40 apexis) and are Unique Equipped. Search "Aether-Tech Adept" for details.

Completion of Phase III summons the Aether-tech Master – requires 20-40. Search "Aether-tech Master" for details.

**Phase I begins with a number of non-elite Flesh Beasts (maybe 10-15). Then the Bash'ir Flesh Fiend (72elite)(80k health) spawns.

After the Bash'ir Flesh Fiend (72elite) dies an NPC arrives and fires a flare which causes the Aether-tech Assistant Potion Vendor to spawn, and begins Phase II.

**Phase II begins with many (20ish) Bash'ir Subprimal (elite)(12k hp) which spawn nearby. Things become somewhat hectic at this point. It did not appear that they all attack at once, but are either pulled or proximity aggroed.

After a short time, non-elite Disruptor Towers (70)(28k hp) surrounded by Bash'ir Controller (elite)(16k hp) spawn at a raged distance. The towers will fire AOE bombs on the NPC. Using ranged DPS on the towers will minimize the number of Bash'ir Controllers aggroed during this stage. As each tower is destroyed, the four Elites arround it will aggro on the NPC. Destroy the towers one at a time and be prepared for each group of Elites. Destruction of the Disruptor Towers will cause the Aether-Tech Adept Gem Vendor to be summoned and begins Phase III.

**Phase III begins with waves of hard-hitting elites (?Bash'ir Reckoner 36k hp?) They are immune to most/all cc and occasionally spell reflect. After a short period, the final boss The Grand Collector will spawn, however he is not targettable. He will stay at range and continually summon a bunch of harder elites, kill them off and after another couple of minutes he will rush into combat and can be attacked.

Have someone tank him, and the rest of the raid needs to control the elites as they will continue to attack the NPC. He has quite a lot of health and takes a good amount of time to go down. He doesn’t hit the tank too hard, however he does an AoE that does about 1500-2500 per person, and has no target limit. Time is a factor, as this will eventually kill the NPC at the forge and end the event.

After killing the Boss, the Aether-tech Master Vendor spawns.

The loot table for the Boss listed on various sites is incorrect. He may drop an Ethereum Prison Key, but any other loot listed is random world drop for this zone.

Okay i just finished the event with 16 mediocrely geared players

The above is generally correct with a few errors. The vendor spawns are linked to the emotes of the main guy, Aether-tech Master Vendor spawned BEFORE the end significantly. We didnt even have to agro the final boss.

I have uploaded pictures, keep in mind it is every even hour on the bliz timer, it is at 54,10. Also note the position of the vendors ( they can be hard to find amongst 20 players ), they are for the first 2 vendors to the side, the last is right at the pool

Confirming the 2 metas that are avaliable do cost 160 apexis shards, they are bought off the FINAL vendor, not the other vendor.

If you're just there for the flasks you don't necessarily have to gather a group by the way. I just went there casually and there was a priest of the other faction and we killed the mobs for a while and when we couldn't take them anymore went away, came back. The vendor came and we got our flasks and left.

I soloed it as a 70 hunter. There were 3 waves but only 1 elite at the end. I kept snake traps down to help pull aggro off of the npc who was at the Crystalforge and kept aggro bounced between me and my cat using multishot and feign death to help keep the fighting npcs from dying. I died after doing a bit of damage to the elite and losing my cat but with the 5 fighting npcs left they finished off the elite. The vendor that I was able to use didn't have metas but had the 4 gruuls flasks so I may not have fully completed the event.

Soloed extremely easily as an arcane mage with 371 ilvl. Takes just under 15 minutes.

The fight isn't part of the quest! The quest is just to ask what time the next assault is. Walk or ride the tiny distance from one npc to another and the quest is yours. Soloed at any level.

Since all the comments on this are old, I thought I'd throw out an update. On 8/20/12 this mission was easily solo'd with a 392 survival hunter and ferocity pet. The NPC's do in fact leave after only a few minutes, so have your crytals ready to buy anything you want.

I did this quest then i waited the 30 minutes for the next raid to go out. 2 hordies decided to come along too and kill me when we land near hte crystal thingy. They then commence ganking me while holding off the spawns but then wipe cuase they didnt have enough dps when the leet came ~ like after bout 2 mins of waves of spawns. The leet hits like a truck, i suggest a healer and a tank :} And now an hour or so later the quest still doesnt say when he is starting again QQ, neways gl w/ u guys

If you fail (AKA wipe and/or the NPCs die) you have to wait an hour for the next 'mission' to start.

At least, that's how long I had to wait.

You'll want a tank and healer(s) for this. Probably at least around 10 people too. This starts off kind of slow, but it really picks up soon after you kill the elite fleshbeast. Towers drop and a ton of mobs spawn, so you'll want to down those towers ASAP.

The Sky Commander Keller doesnt give any quest. (I'm just friendly with Shat'tari Skyguard)

This event occurs every two hours. 8am, 10am, 12pm, etc...

Using just a 5 man group you can get past phase 1. Do this if your just looking to buy flasks.

Phase 1 consists of non-elite Slavering Slaves coming after the Skyguard Aether-Tech. Phase 1 ends when the Skyguard Aether-Tech calls for an assistant and a after you kill an elite.

Phase 2 increases the frequency of mobs and the Aether-tech Assistant arrives. From this guy you can buy any of 4 Unstable Flasks. Bandit, Physician, Soldier, Elder.

Towers spawn, and you need at least two groups here. Group 1 will defend the Aether-Tech guys, and you need another group to go and kill the towers. The towers are now guarded by 72 and 70 elites. We tried with 14 and only made it to phase 3.

Phase 3 there are many many more mobs coming this time all elites. We have only survived to this point, will be getting a larger group together to try again.

Heya, <boyo/girly>! Up fer some fun are ye?

Every couple o' hours, me aether-techs launch an assault on Bash'ir Landing, far ta the northeast in the Blade's Edge Mountains. They say that they're there 'studying' the Bash'ir crystalforge, but it's an assault; there be no two ways about it. We use the crystalforge to resupply, and there's always extra to be sold.

Go on down ta the landin' pad and speak with the aether-tech apprentice. He'll tell ye when the next mission is ta launch.
