He's at 12, 18 in the giant hut near the back (southwest) end. Like the previous poster said, you don't need to be in the group that kills him. Just grab the loot that drops and you're done.

This is the most difficult Gronn to kill in this group of quests. Unlike the others, he has a short-range area-of-effect spell that will damage melee attackers.

Non-tanks in melee range must either receive extra healing or step out to bandage.

This is part of the quest chain to open up the Ogri'la daily quests. You have to kill five different elite Sons of Gruul. They are VERY tough and you must have a proper 5-man party to handle them (Tank, Healer, 3 DPS). You might even want to bring along some extra people that can help out of party.

important note: you don't really need a flying mount for this quest.
You've just to die near the barrier hills, you'll be brought to the barrier hills graveyard, just resurrection sickness there and you can do the quest :D

This is useful only if you're in hurry to get the questline done and you're extremely poor to not afford a flying mount

We did this with 2 prep-rogues and 1 disc-priest, here's our strategy:

1 rogue starts tanking while the other rogue is doing a bit less dmg to keep the aggro on the tanking rogue
the rogue should not pop evasion at first, start with pain surpression than evasion -> prep -> evasion -> vanish, so that the other rogue will get the aggro and tanks the boss.
now the second tanking rogue needs to do the evasion circle first because pain surpression is still on CD

We did this strategy on all 3 ogres and there was no need for the second pain surpression but it was available

For this quest, and all the other ones like it (Maggoc, Vim'gol, etc), you can be in a raid and get them killed, but you wont be able to loot (or open) the item.
On the bright side.. all you have to do is leave the raid and oyu can loot (or open) the item!

So if you feel like doing these quests with your entire guild or something, it's possible! Yay! :D

soloed with prot pally. Judgement of wisdom , seal of wisdom . didnt use lay on hands or bubble. easy kill but it took a while.

Soloed as a level 80 resto druid with 1845sp. Followed same procedure as Grulloc but with more defined kiting spots. Went back and forth upon each enrage to two spots in Travel Form then re-engaged with Starfire spam whilst keeping myself up with Regrowth, Rejuv and Lifebloom.

Had to use Innervate but managed to make it out without using a Runic Mana Potion although I had less than 1000 mana left when he died.

Soloed as a level 80 enchacement shaman if fairly crappy gear - my guess is that any hybrid class can do this with minimal effort

Also soloed, but as an arcane mage.

Similar strat, pop mirrors, icy veins, arcane blast until dead, took around 20 seconds if that. He had just taken down my last mirror and hit me down around 9k HP (I only have 17.7k HP in my PvE gear)

Should be a breeze for any well geared 80.

This strat works if you have insanely lucky Mirror aggro selection and he doesn't hit with his AoE attack that knocks you back a couple feet.

Have died 4 times now on this guy, arcane mage, T8 / T9 mix. Very frustrating.

Edit - 6 times. PoM to take aggro, Mirror Image to 'drop' aggro, Blink past him to avoid AoE, pop Icy & AP, spam AB and Barrage as it comes up - even with him wandering back and forth between Mirrors and me he still aggros dominantly on me and I die. Fun.

Edit2 - Yeah, it's all about luck on the Mirror aggro. Used Lifeblood and a couple of Mana Shields, tried to increase the distance between Mirrors and me so he wasted time going back and forth, still barely scraped by. Yes, you can solo this as a lvl 80 mage.

Soloed like a 80 elemental shaman, pop bloodlust and trinket in beginning and when he enrages i just spammed healed myself. Did this with all three ogres easy like hell :)

The easiest of the three to solo as an 80 prot warrior in t8/t9. I literally took 0 damage. He doesn't hit very hard, either - the biggest hit I blocked was for just over 1000 damage.

quit hard
1st times used imp, but it killed me at 20%
after that used voildwalker
i killed him, used during fight a potion, a healthstone, voidwalkers sacrifice twice and killed him, but it killed me too

Soloed as a level 70 feral druid. My gear is all best in slot however :o
Best strategy is to start in cat/stealth, pounce, 5 combos, maim, berserk 5 combos, rip use the instant HT, then sit in bear until he enrages. Once he enrages he will stand still, run to the other side of the arena and heal up then get back in bear, rinse and repeat. I finished the fight at full hp due to frenzied regen :P

Soloed this as a level 80 hunter with a secondary BM spec designed for leveling. (Read: lots of pet survival talents.) My pet was a scorpion with tanking talents. My GS was 5.3k, which for me was a good mix of t9 and t10 level gear.

Very easy, much like the other elite quests. Misdirect on pet, mend pet, then pop all cooldowns (TBW, Kill Command, Rapid Fire) and mend pet as necessary. I'd assume this is doable in other specs as long as you burn him fast enough and keep your pet alive.

As of 4.0.6 this quest does NOT count for Loremaster, even though wowhead acts like it does. I was hoping this would be #86/86. But the next quest in the chain, Grim(oire) Business, DOES count toward Loremaster even though wowhead says it doesn't.

Well, as a 70 NE Warrior, it was very easy! Yes he's in the big hut w/the blueish tint inside it. I hovered in front from about 75 yards and up a bit. As I flew at him I dropped nuff to fly right in the door. Ya don't need to hit the gryph drop cause it haps auto when ya get inda hut. He had a chance to hit me once n then I just stunned him then just slice n dice. The only prob w/these big guys is, they fall on you and then ya cant see where his standard or the link loot is! lol So I had to just keep turnin around w/my loot target on till it gave me a grey cog n moved to it till gold. Went back on the porch, got my gryph n autorotated out. Peezo cake!

This quest is virtually impossible to find a group for unless you are in a big guild. Everyone is #$%^&ing that they can't find anyone to do the Ogri'la quests with but nobody helps you to actually get the quest line.

Rogues, this boss is stun-lockable. Keep him bottled up and he goes down quick. When his AOE stun goes off, run. You can't move in to attack and its now so good. I'd say, tank, healer, 2 ranged and a rogue and you are set.

He pulses an AOE from himself that knocks you back and does damage not unlike Princess Theradras, but his pulses much faster and does about 800 per tick to leather. My advice if you're melee? Get a group with hunters/mages/warlocks, you're just going to soak damage against this mob.

Are you familiar with Shattrath City, <class>? Above it to the northwest is a place called the Barrier Hills, which you can only get to upon a flying mount.

One of Gruul's sons, Slaag, exiled himself and took control of the Gordunni ogres that reside there. Even at such a distance, we cannot afford to leave him in peace, lest he return when the rest of his brothers have been slain.

<name>, you must travel there, and bring back his standard as proof that he has been dealt with.
