The adds must be killed fast with this boss. They attack with a firebomb that can wipe the raid v quickly. The attack remains so dont come straight back in if anyone died near the portal door.

Having casters would help better than Melee, but all works ofc.

Iam pugging this one when my guild have some slacker time.

The adds on10man can be skipped, the one who gets the add can move away from the raid unless its a healer, better to kill it.

By this move, you can zerg him very fast as long you avoid the fire, all range/healers stays at max range, or mark some range for example hunter or warlock/mage and all can stay at the same range and only move sideways to avoid the fire bomb.

There is an achievement to leave at least 2 snobolds alive through the icehowl phase of the encounter.

Initial thoughts:
wait to kill the snobolds until all 4 are down. They won't stack on a single person.
Kill any that land on a healer (having 3 heals for this achievement attempt might be useful, but probably isn't necessary)

The challenge will then come once Gormok dies as there will be additional area effect damage to watch out for and the stuns may make it difficult to keep effective movement and positioning.

I would imagine that it could just come down to luck with the timing on the head crack ability and skill to avoid the fire patches and not get caught by the other multi-target attacks from the other two beasts.

I noticed sometimes the adds bug. If that happens, do they count for the achievement, and do they detract from the total summoned? Like if there is a bugged add, will Gormok only summon 3 adds? Pls remove this when Blizz fixes this and this is no longer an issue.

Just chiming in to say this guy is a total jerk on Heroic. Damage is about 150% of Normal, including Snobolds. Fire patches apply a nasty debuff. Also, you have a limited time to kill him before the Jormungar enter the arena.

BoP will remove impale stacks from a tank after another one's taunted off. Really handy on heroic when transitioning to the worms.

Druids in forms appear to be immune from having snobolds thrown on them. I have heard anecdotal reports of snobolds jumping on to a druid after jumping off someone else, but I have not seen this happen.

In 5 weeks now of my guild killing him in both 10 and 25 man, none of our druids have ever had a snobold on them.

On 10 man I often see tanks waiting for the Impale debuff to completely wear off before taunting, but this is not necessary. If a tank waits that long, the other tank will accumulate 3 stacks, but it is perfectly safe to taunt on 2. The debuff will wear off before it is re-applied. Impale lasts for 30 seconds, but the recast time is 11 seconds, not 10 as is often assumed. For example, first tank takes Impales at 0s and 11s, second tank takes the Impales at 22s and 33s, the next Impale will come at 44s, which is 33 seconds after the second one that the first tank took, and 3 seconds after the debuff has worn off on the first tank.

Every application of Impale will do about 30k damage on its own, but also extends the duration of any existing stack by 11 seconds which is about 10k of damage. Adding a 3rd stack to 2 existing stacks therefore adds an extra 20k damage which is unnecessary and easily avoided, and every little bit helps.

We have switched at 2 ever since we started doing ToC. We have never ever reached 3 this way. There has been no exceptions at all.

This is over 7 normal kills and 2 heroic kills (10 man).

Going for three makes the damage on the OT at a level where a healer has to pay extra attention to it, where at 2 it becomes "the usual" raid damage.

Anyone know how much HP Gormok has on Heroic 10-man? I see the quick facts at the top of the page, and I know Gormok does not have nearly 9 mil hp in ToC10 or probably for ToGC10 either (unless its THAT heroic). And hp for the adds and the other northrend bosses would be good too. Feel free to downrate. I just need my info. Lol.

Protip: If you're ranged, turn your shadow effects on, you'll be able to see the fire bombs heading toward you and can move before taking a single tick from the fire.

This fight, which consists of 3 fights containing a total of 4 bosses, is effectively a check of your PuGs skill (or common sense), gear, and patience. People who are pulling meager (less than 3k) dps in 10man are either ungeared, unskilled, or both. People who do not follow the pretty simple guidelines have little common sense. People who quit after your group wipes (expect it) once have no patience. Now, enough of that, onto the fights. This is all on my 10m experience of this fight.

The Beasts of Northrend

Gormok the Impaler

- Gormok will enter the ring. The tank and off-tank should stack up on eachother, and as soon as he is attackable the tank should stack threat. It isn't imperative that the OT stays in second place, since they should taunt to grab aggro anyways.

- Tank/Offtank This is a fairly simple fight to tank. The offtank should have the tank as their focus, and vice-versa. Once the main tank has 3 stacks of Impale (the DoT that the boss applies to his top target), then the offtank will taunt and build aggro while the MT steps down and lets him take the lead. Once the offtank has 3 stacks (by now the MT's stacks should have worn off), then the MT should taunt and take aggro again. Just repeat this swap and, with a decent group, there should only be a max of four aggro swaps. Cake.

- Healers The snobolds are a nuisance, so raid healers will have to make sure they heal the damage they do to the raid. Needless to say, someone will probably stand in the fire for a second too long, so watch for that. The tank healer faces the problem of having to keep the current main tank up while healing the impale damage on the tank that is "sitting out". At the end of the fight, it is imperative that the healers make sure that both tanks cap out on HP, or you may find your raid eating bile and slime before they know what hit them.

- DPS There are fires, you need to not be in them. It's not a new concept. Now, on to the real issue. Little do you know, the Snobold on your fellow raid member's head has been hitting on your mother and beating baby murlocs. Therefore, you must kill him, and kill him fast. Some raids like to assign ranged dps to the Snobolds. Some raids fail very hard. The average pug will want all DPS on the snobolds. Let me repeat. ALL DPSers, ranged or melee, should attack the snobolds.

Follow these simple rules and the first fight should go down like cake. If not, the Jormungars in the next stage will make quick work of you. Another useful tip: immunity spells can dispel stacks of Impale. The main tank of my raid was assigned to pally bubble himself after Gormok died, and cover me with Hand of Protection (make sure both buffs are cancelled immediately after application).
