Well, it seems this year (2008) that the Shade of the Horseman "attacks" these named villages more often than 4 hours, probably once every 10 minutes? You still have to put out his fires, as he will still fly around until you do. Can someone please confirm the respawn of this NPC in 2008?

It appears to be 15 minutes from the point that he goes down.

It seems to be taking WAY longer than 15 minutes, a group of us have been standing here for almost 30 minutes and no luck.

When the horseman casts his burning spell on you it shows as a buff so just right click it and it goes!

shade is a lvl 11 character that started spawning every 4 hours from 12:00AM on october 18 he appears riding a lvl 60 lock mount flying above your head in falconwing square, brill, and razor hill for the horde. goldshire, khranos... i realy dont know if he spawns at azure watch or teldrassel... for the alliance. he dies and you get to smash his pumpkin only 1 time at each town (wasnt able to make it to khranos to tell) but he does not drop loot :thats what i was told; never was able to kill him lvl 70 druid moonfire spams him when he drops so he get it.

A couple minutes after he has lit the buildings on fire, and before he comes down to fight, he will randomly target three people and throw a burning Jack-O-Lantern on their heads. This causes some damage and makes your character run around for several seconds, like they were Feared.

for he's lvl 11.
The fact is that the thing about this fight is more the freaky atmosphere than the fight itself, and the screams he lets out can make any raid lvl boss green with envy. Once I was going with a lowbie to Gnomer, and we had to cross Dun Morogh, so we were both really affraid of lvl 70s coming.
Then we heard the Shade's battle cry: "Prepare yourelves, the bells have tolled! Shelter your weak, your young and your old! Each of you shall pay the final sum! Cry for mercy; the reckoning has come!"
And the lowbie, who has never heard of that event: "I sure hope there are allies there".
Me: "WHY?"
Him: "So they get killed"
Me: "Dude, don't hope, he's lvl 11".
Him: "Oh ok"
A few minutes later, we heard the victorious scream of the shade, "Fire comsumes! You've tried and failed. Let there be no doubt, justice prevailed!"
Luckily the lowbie did not ask any questions, or it would be hard for me to explain how a lvl 11 could have triumphed over a village.

Killed him as my Pally, got Pumpkin Head x3 and Lollipop x5. Kill him before Hallow's End is over. I'm pretty sure these items are unique.
