Random, but is Banthar's name a reference to the Banthas in Star Wars? They're also pack animals of similar size, with long shaggy fur.

For some unknown reason, Banthar will become a brand new Red and Brown clefthoof (no this is not like Brokentoe who is Red/Black)

Banthar's old unique white model will now be used on the clefthooves in the Bone Wastes of Terokkar.

There is some speculation that this change might mean that Blizz is planning on tameable clefthooves. Or blizz just decided "Meh....might as well use this model somewhere.....oops almost removed the white model from game! Better fix that!"

If this beast is indeed named for the bantha beasts in Star Wars, the current coloring seems MUCH more appropriate as those beasts were also a reddish brown color.

just kited him to the ally town, where the guards finish him off in a second. just make sure he has below 50% health when you arrive so you can loot the corpse. had him down to 20%, but out of mana.

I soloed it as a lvl 66 hunter(beastmastery expected). Just put some +healing green equip and used a potion to get more mana, and used all of it on mend pet(except for the pet frenzy).

Solo'd as a 70 combustion mage with POM/Scorch and my ZHC. Had 1k hp left.

Solo'd as a 67 shadow priest. Average gear, just dotted and kited. Used a mana pot and my nifty stopwatch to keep out of range. Just be careful not to let him de-aggro. Also solo'd Bach'lor and Gutripper.

Just kite him, he is a bit fast so be careful! Don't kite him to Aeris Landing! They won't help you! Take him to Telaar, he is easy to get there. Be careful with the enemy Kurenai patrol on Ellek's! They will spoil it all! Remember to keep Serpent Sting on him for those who's not good at kiting. The guards do like 2 hits and he's dead =) Hope it helped for u hunters ;)

i'd suggest a group of atleast 2 lvl 65's, healer and tank, maybe throw a DPS on top of it.
but otherwise if you're wondering don't try to do it solo at lvl 65 hehe ^.^

solo'd him as a 65 fire mage. he's immune to slowing effects but runs slow. just hit him with fireblast every time its not on cooldown and blink when he catches up to you. easy as cake.

The tusken raiders mounts are called something alike banthar, and they look pretty much the same ;)

Solo'd as 66 Warlock.

Just enslave one of the Elite 67-68 Legionaires from the nearby Forge Camps and let him tank while you DoT and send in the occasional 'bolt.

They hit like a truck and have a ton of health(the Legionaires) and as long as you can keep them enslaved you can use the same one to solo all of the mobs for the Nesingwary quests, and rip through the Warmaul too.

Next thing I'm going to try is Brokentoe (Ring of Blood) and try to solo that with one of these. Also, Durm the Hungerer (I think that's his name), gonna try him too.

ezily soloable just kite to telaar guards, 70 prot warr by the time he got ther he was at half health

btw make sure you do atleast a 3rd health to him b4 guards kill or you wont be able to loot

Soloed (67 elite) Banthar as a lvl 66 protection paladin by, err... fighting him! No kiting, no fearing, no outside help, just good old fashioned killing him before he killed me. Tankadins are tough old fellows.

Solod as 67 bear druid. somewhat above avg gear i guess, popped frenz regen when i was at about 15% he was at about 40, then popped out to heal when i was at 40% again just to be safe, he was at 15. Just prowl to him in cat and follow him till you have a safe spot to fight, remember to use ff to pull him so you dont get and of the bulls behind him adding in. I pulled him up to the road and fought him there.

Banthar has almost exactly 24,660 health.

He is a level 67 Elite that paths where specified upon the map alongside four level 64-65 Clefthoofs and one or two level 62 Clefthoof Calfs that will aggro when Banthar is pulled.

Soloed Banthar as a lvl 67 poorly geared hunter. If you can kite this quest is cake. I was on the road almost exactly half way between the consortium outpost and Halaa when I encountered him. With aspect of the cheetah, I had no problem. I kited him to telaar, (banthar was at 47% by that time) and the guards took care of the rest.

Be careful hunters. If you let Banthar get too close, he has a charge attack that will stun the daylights out of you if you're using AotC. (that is why my hp is low in the picture.) Also, watch out for broken patrols on the road, they can make things complicated.

Just remember if you're going to solo Banthar, Bach'lor or Gutripper as a demonology spec warlock using a Fel, disable cleave. Otherwise your Fel will cleave a nearby mob and the nearby mob will interfere.

i soloed him too with my lvl 66 shamy its easy... first time i did it no one belived me. then i maked a bet with a guy. that was the fastest 100g i ever got

solo'd 65 feral druid. started out in cat form beat him down, switched to bear form, had to bash him twice to heal, when you take down his attack power its not too hard of a fight just takes a few hits to kill him.

Kiting him doesnt work anymore, i tried it, guards did not help, i died, and he glitched and despawned.

I was able to solo him as a level 70 hunter, just make sure you dont get any adds. And make sure Durn is far away.

Solo'd as 70 hunter. Easy just Throw up a heal and go to town. When pet is low on HP just pull agro off your pet and let the him heal up. Feign. Repeat.

So, the comments about pulling his adds were very helpful.. I had 4 adults and 2 kids which I needed to deal with before I could focus on Banthar. Pulling each one pulls nothing else.

Then, I pulled Banthar close to the rode near Telaar, avoiding the Bull eleks which would be bad, and also the roaming clefthooves - also bad.

Waited for a lil aggro, then did Curse of Doom, and 2 other dots. Then I just constantly healed my Fel guard. Banthar's hits were almost identical to my healing ability so it was just a question of patience. Had a dwarf hunter help me at very end - very nice (and thanks to you hunters out there who help - second time in a row on a 67 elite named boss).

Oh, btw, Banthar is immune to fear.

65 hunter - put on my healing gear and set my pet on him with Aspect of the Viper up. Healing pet and occasionally firing serpent sting and a bit of auto-shot when time allowed it. Got him down to about 25% health having just drunk a mana potion when a one of those cyclone things wandered in and obviously i drew aggro from that when healing so failed. I suspect I would have done it without the add though. Don't know if he can be hit with freezing trap but intimidation definitely works.

I didn't see this mentioned anywhere, so it's either a new thing or just not considered noteworthy:

Banthar walks around with 4-5 buddies...when I took him down (playing a 67 rogue, grouped with a 67 druid & a 70 pally, you know, for good measure/overkill), it was Banthar (67 elite), 4 regular clefthooves (64-65) and 1 clefthoof calf (64).

These 6 mobs were grouped VERY close together, easily in each others' aggro ranges...however, we were able to range-pull them one at a time with no problems somehow. No real effort was made to ensure we only pulled one at a time, so I think this group of mobs may be designed that way.

The calf didn't hit very hard at all & had fairly low HP, and the regular clefthooves were the normal ones that you see wandering around Nagrand & are easy (but slightly time-consuming) to kill. Banthar, on the other hand, hit fairly hard & had a good amount of HP. Still, with our ridiculously-overpowered group she died very quickly.

The next day, I saw Banthar wandering around with 2 regular clefthooves & 2 calves. Later that same evening, she had an entourage of 4 regular clefthooves & no calves. I think it's safe to say her 4 adds are some random mix of regular & baby clefthooves.

The only major concern I had was that, after we'd killed the last of the 4 adds, Banthar was wandering down her usual path solo & without a care in the world, leaving her open to poaching. Some other player(s) could have come along & easily tagged her, and we couldn't have done anything about it. So for security purposes it might be a good idea to have 2 people burn down the adds ASAP while 1 kites Banthar to prevent poaching by other players.

Just soloed quite easily with a level 67 51-point BM hunter (first try succeeded), no kiting, using a cat. The new talent trees are quite powerful. :)

Kited him with frost shock up to the consortium base right above his spawnpoint and healed myself while the consortium guards finished him off. Easy as pie :)

I managed to solo Banthar as a mediocrely quest-geared BM Hunter at Level 66. Despite Mending, my pet Ravager died on me in the final stages of the fight, with around 10-15% HP left on Banthar. I had no mana left to Revive and no potions on hand, but I was able finish her on my own by keeping my distance and wearing her down. I had some luck on my side, since she only got close enough to Charge me when she was down to 1-2% HP. Overall, not too hairy of a fight, but if you're unsure, definitely bring a mate along to help. Happy hunting!
