Many wisps sacrificed themselves in order to defeat Archimonde at the end of the Third War, so there are fewer wisps today than there once were.

And for this reason we, of the Explorer's League, are asking for volunteers to blow themselves up and become the Night Elf builders from Warcraft 3.

Since we'll need to do a lot of rebuilding with the cataclysm and all.

Can you move and perform actions during the wisp form? Can it be used in combat? Can you use other items and abilities while in wisp form?

- Doesn't work in combat;

- Any combat action, including buffs and auto-attacks will break the effect.

Here's how to improve this item:

Lasts ten minutes or until death as a buff. When you die and ressurect, you get the wisp buff and get to be a wisp for ten minutes and attack in combat and everything.

Certainly would make those pubbie heroics rather amusing when half the group are wisps :P

Eating or drinking food in wisp form causes the food/drink to float all around the wisps head. Probably best use of it I've seen yet.

There is a way to be a Wisp in combat.

Ask a friend to use their Wisp Amulet.
Stand next to your friend.
Drink a Potion of Illusion.
There you go - two minutes of Wisp action in combat!

If you don't happen to have a friend with this item but you have one yourself, you can always ask them to drink a potion next to you and then you cancel the effect and then you copy your friends copy, so to speak.

Works on other Archaeology items such as Bones of Transformation and Blessing of the Old God as well. Happy transforming!

Wisps are nature spirits thought to be dead night elves. They exist in tight connection with their forest homeland and night elves in general, performing such beneficial activities as construction, repair and defense of elven communities. Many wisps sacrificed themselves in order to defeat Archimonde at the end of the Third War, so there are fewer wisps today than there once were.

This beautiful amulet is formed of loops and angles of bright gold, framing a large tear-drop emerald. Within the depths of the emerald you can see a small glowing sphere with a vaguely night elf face. The sphere seems to move about withing the emerald, not trapped exactly as much as flitting about like an insect.

Random fun fact!
The wisp character model seems to be MUCH bigger than it may appear.
For example, when used with Vry'kul Drinking Horn (For extra size debuff) & Ethereal Portal, the size of the portal shows how big the actual character model is.

I made a list of gimmick items which you can use to transform your character into a different form or race or even gender to play around with. I didn't add items like weapons that provide a procc with a transform effect that only lasts a few seconds even though I know about them. If a hunter uses Potion of Illusion next to a player in Whisp form, then uses Feign Death they will be completely invisible and unable to be targeted. Try it in a duel.

It's a real shame that so many of the artefacts are so poor, with at best minor combat buffs and over-long CDs (even for a fun item).
It could have been so much more. Compare with First Aid, which is indispensable for PvP. Imagine being able to 'steal' some other class abilities, even for a few seconds? It would add some real variety into the game.

Edit - And fishing. Don't forget fishing! I've picked up some really valuable and hard-to-obtain materials using a fishing rod. And I'm not talking about 5% drops - I mean 100% certainties if you know the spot. Volatile fire goes for silly money on the AH but you can fish it out of lava by the handful.

Have this on my DK and believe it's worth mentioning that use of this item if you have boneshield active will turn you into a wisp and leave your boneshield on :) looks pretty awesome
