I'm trying to quantify the value of this. Assuming that, with such a small shield, this will tick once, it will regen 5460 mana. If you're clicking it every 2 minutes, that's 5460 MP120, which would equate to 227.5 MP5.

Blizz seems to value 2 spirit as 1 MP5, given the way gems and gear were changed for Cata.

So, if used on every cooldown, this trinket would be roughly comparable to 455 Spirit.

Of course, 2 Spirit is actually less effective than 1 MP5, which would raise the regen value of this trinket even more, since it is essentially an MP5 item and not a Spirit item. So, worst case scenario, 2 spirit is worth .5 MP5. Which increases the value of this trinket, since it's, in essence, an MP5 trinket, up to 910 Spirit.

So, if spammed purely as a regen tool, this trinket is worth between 455 and 910 Spirit.

I'm not suggesting how to use this trinket, but with the fairly weak shield, it's not really an "oh noes" trinket as much as a regen trinket.

Of course, if using it solely as a regen tool, why not cast it on yourself at the start of the fight and recast as necessary...

I think it's pretty obvious that the idea is to shield someone who isn't going to take damage for the next 30 seconds so you get the most regen possible out of this thing. Use it on a smart dps who knows how to avoid aoe, and preferrably right after a boss uses his aoe ability so it will be on cooldown while the shield is giving you free mana regen.

The whole reason the buff is called egg shell is because keeping it active requires your target to figuratively walk on eggshells. 4k damage is nothing at 85.

I can't wait to play around with this effect. I'd like to see if it's castable on friendly NPCs. Does anyone know if there is a limited range on it?

I like the concept of this trinket, but there is a problem with it.

It doesn't actually give 420mp5 regen, but causes a special effect to happen every 5 seconds. This tick causes your char to sit up, so you can't drink between pulls because of it :(

After wasting almost an entire stack of buff food, I realized this trinket is causing the problem. I replaced it because of this.

When using this trinket I had noticed that it was absorbing more than the stated (4060) damage, I noticed absorbs of boss abilities that dealt ~20k damage. I had assumed that it was scaling with SP, but someone with the heroic version of the trinket has tested it and found that it absorbed a 500k damage Whale Shark hit.

EDIT - Heroic, yes.

Very similar to Mark of the Dragon Lord from LBRS. Fortunately this one is much more forgiving if the shield gets broken.

Now this is obviously supposed to be a healer trinket, but how about for arcane mages? These days we're as paranoid if not more paranoid about our mana levels than healers are, and an item like this could theoretically help us maintain optimal mana levels for our mastery buff or extend a burn phase by an extra cast or two. Would the numbers justify this, do you think?

Definitely an arcane mage trinket. Get ready for healers to starty crying when rolling on this.

As a healer there is not much use putting it on a tank in a dungeon while in combat, as it will grant very little mana. I am considering keeping it in my bags, and using it between pulls to reduce downtime while drinking.

This macro casts a spell (lifebloom in this example), then uses the trinket on yourself only if you are in combat. Just stops you wasting it when you could be drinking, also prevents errors from being heard or seen

I thought the method of mana regen was familiar so looked through old Vanilla loot and found the Mark of the Dragon Lord. Quite a similar method of mana regen.

This trinket had always confused me till I came here to read more...I was so confused as to why I couldnt roll on this item as a Priest, but my Druid can. Just...really weird.

Still cannot 'Need' roll on this as holy priest, despite there being a patch 24 hours ago, and this problem being around since Cata launch...

Luckily I was running with Tank and DPS friend, who both needed to win it, then trade me it :)

Was able to need it as a holy priest today. Not sure if they hotfixed it or I just got lucky, but I didn't even know there was a bug until I came here. Can someone else confirm/deny that it's fixed for holy priests?

Edit: This is in regards to the normal version, not the heroic version. Not sure if the bug is/was exclusive to one or the other.

I successfully did a need roll on it as a warlock this evening. I have not done much with it, but it makes me feel like an evil little paladin, bubbling myself like that.
