This Hatchling is a size larger than any of the others. He also has slightly different eyes. Unfortunately, he has no unique movements except for his roaring.

A lot of horde in UnGoro farming the new horde mount, so it will be difficult to find the rare spawn for a while.

Today I checked /who Un'goro for about 4 hours and every time there were no more than 2-3 players. After 4 hours I went there to look for the matriarch and I found it on the first try. NPCScan helped me, the screen flashes when the mob popped up in the mob cache!

I'm Defense/Offense/Specialteams on Galakrond (US). I farmed this up at 11:18am server time, and then got it again at 1:56am server time. As noted on WarcraftPets.com, the Ravasaur Matriarch has about a 10-14 hour respawn timer.

PTR Notes (Build 10623):

Hatchlings: Leaping, Darting, Razormaw, and Ravasaur Hatchlings no longer drop from their associated rare creatures. Instead, there are now rare nests that spawn which contain these hatchlings. For example, the Leaping Hatchling can now be found in Takk’s Nest rather than as a drop from Takk the Leaper.

Personal Notes:

Both the nests and rare spawn raptors can be up at the same time.
Rare spawn raptors no longer drop the mini pets; they can only be obtained from the nests.
100% loot chance for the mini pets from nests.
Nests can only spawn near the location of the rare spawn raptors but not always in the same spot (almost certain).
Example: Dart's nest can only be found around the location where Dart spawns even if it's not in the same spot where it last spawned.
Nest spawn timer is about the same as rare spawn raptors on LIVE realms.

Also found a nest, it was towards the southwestern edge of the area that the ravasaurs hatch in (down where the runners are, the blue ones). And it was tucked up against a tree root, very tiny and not sparkly as noted above. Almost would have missed it if I hadn't noticed that something looked out of place near the tree. It's a very small nest, so watch carefully and make sure to scan your mouse often. Good Luck!

I'm Happy... I hunted for the matriarch for days and days... and I had all but given-up hope.
Just the Gundrak Hatchling left to round out my collection! YAY!

Amazingly, I was in the process of giving up and going on to do my Venomhide mount daily quest, when I got this random impulse to check the giant tree to the left of me one last time, and lo and behold, raptor baby!

Of all the raptor hatchling, this one resembles the ZG mount the most. Very good combo. I stuck this pet in front of my mount macro. :)

edit: also, for those of you with mining alts, this is the best hatchling site to park him at to egg farm. Every time I log in I get at least one mithril or thorium. AND there's oozes bordering the west side of the target area so you can drop an ooze or two while you're checking for eggs (for a chance at a https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=20769)...So even without finding an egg, its not bad for 60 seconds of work.

Only just got mine about five minutes ago. Nest spawned at 62, 63 against a tree and a big root. I've been working on this one for about a week now, so I'm very excited =) Good luck!

i had no idea what these looked like when i got THIS as my first nest egg. In un'goro you see ALOT of eggs on the ground, this is clearly a NEST with grass/leaves around it and has a Gear/Cog on mouse over. Its not the size of the eggs you see on the ground its like the size of 6 clustered eggs.

found mine on the side of a lil palm tree thingy by the way. Wish i had screen capped it.

Finally got mine today, loc 68.9,66.9, on the eastern side of a big tree with a palm tree right next door. On the map, directly below the little lake with two small islands in it in the south east corner.

Found one nestled in the corner of a tree root at 62.77, 63.9! Not sure if it makes a difference in coordinates, but we were using the worldmapinfo addon.

WOW! Ok, I started off looking for Humar, but couldn't find him. I remember a friend telling me of a Raptor named Takk nearby that had eggs in a nest that would be worth a lot at the AH...so I ran over there, and sure enough, BAM! No raptor, just the nest with Takk's egg. That was 3pm server time. I popped into the AH and put it up...although I really wanted to keep it!
I then remembered some other eggs...so I went to Dustwallow to look for Dart's nest, again, no Dart, but his nest was there...that was 314pm server time. Next I went to the Un'Goro Crater and BAM! Another nest from the Matriarch; 330pm...I was on a roll, but didn't stop there...I finally decided what the heck, I'm having a VERY good day, so I went to the Wetlands in the cave, ran around, disappointed and getting ready to leave because I had just killed the Matriarch but no nest nearby...as I was leaving I noticed an area I didn't go to, and sure enough on the ledge was her nest! That was 342pm server time!
Yes, that's FOUR...FOUR eggs in less than 45 minutes!

Dart - 46.5,17.2
Ravasaur Matriarch - 61.1, 72.2

Sorry, didn't write down the other two...but the coords that are given is the approximate places I found them.

I started my dinosaur hatchling hunt this week, I got..

Razormaw Hatchling on Monday,
Darting Hatchling on Tuesday,
Both Leaping and Ravasaur both on Thursday.

I first put my level 70 alts on the spawning spots, Paladin at Razormaw and Mage at Leaping Hatchling's spawn point. I kept checking every few hours if they had spawned. I got the Razormaw very soon, and moved my Paladin to the spawnpoint of Darting Hatchling. I got it soon, too, and then I moved it to the spawn of Ravasaur hatchling. After that I had no luck in few days, but then I got them both at the same day.
I don't know which of them is rarer, because I killed Takk the Leaper 6 times before Takk's Nest spawned. Then again, I didn't even see neither Ravasaur Matriarch, nor the nest until I got it.

Can anyone enlighten me and others to some updated coords of where this can be found as of "The Shattering?" I'm a daily hunter of these hatchlings and Un'goro has seen a good bit of changes. I've found what looks like the old 5 spawn points so I'm just curious if these are the same or if maybe they've shifted to somewhere else in Un'goro. Thanks.

update: Yeah, it turns out the spawn points are still intact. Wasn't able to get one for a few days then got 2 in the same day. I have noticed a lot more "traffic" in the area with the new alliance base nearby and the road crossing through the middle of the spawn points. I love these little guys. I get ~ 1k gold each from the AH, sometimes more. Good luck to you other farmers.

Found him today, 4/17/11 12:30 p.m. at 69,61 on Boulderfist. I don't believe the spawns of the matriarch and nest are linked. You don't have to kill her to have the nest spawn. They are both random and independent of each other.

After a week of camping this puppy I found him just now, about 12.50am server time, at 62,72. In the meantime I have picked up lots of the other hatchlings.

Also the nest was sort of hard to see, the green matches nicely with the background, the purple eggs gave it away.

I've been checking the spawn coordinates about 3 times per day for the last 5 days. I try at all different times of day and haven't found a nest. I am going to the coordinates listed above by Baggs, but I only see three sets of coordinates given. Does anyone know what the fourth confirmed coordinates are? I am checking 69,61 and 69,67 and 62,72. I appreciate any help you can give. Happy hunting to us all!

Coords are still good, use the TomTom macro. 2 hrs 27 mins. I got a little worried towards the end, toons were in the area lvling up and I found 2 dead Ravosaurs right next to the nest sites I had been working. Persistence paid off and I found it.

I've farmed three of these (two in Wrath and one in Cataclysm).

This raptor seems to be the "rarest" of the nest raptors, in my experience (two separate medium-pop servers; and by rarest I don't mean that the nest spawns any less, but that it always seem like people farm this one moreso than the other nests). I usually have to farm points for 2-3 days before I'll find a nest. I suggest, if proper level, porting to Uldum a couple of times an hour and flying north to do a "sweep" of the area.

I found my third raptor this morning, at the bottommost spawn (my coords are turned off), nestled against a tree, after two days of doing sweeps.

I hit up all of the coords that were listed in the various comments, but unfortunately I had no luck finding the hatchling. However, out of the dozen or so coords that appear in the various comments, there appear to be maybe 4 or 5 of them that are distinct spawn locations (in other words, most of the coords are duplicates of one another). The distinct coords that I came out with are the following:

62,72
62,65 (little palm tree in the screen shot on someone else's comment)
63,63 (base of the big tree in the the same screen shot with the palm tree)
69,67
69,61

These are probably the easiest hatch lings to get as the nests have a spawn timer of 1-2 hours AND no one barley goes to get these so everyone is 100% guaranteed to get these hatchlings..and If you're wondering why I'm saying hatch lings there's 3 more of these bad boys to get :D

I jumped on a rock by a single palm tree and looked around and poof - right in front of me at the base of the palm tree the nest spawned at 62/65. walked over looted and finished my set of 4 hatchlings.

Ok, so I finally found one of the nest you loot this little guy from. You can tell them apart from the other nests by sight if they have a green grass nest that the eggs sit in. This way you don't have to scroll over any eggs you find. Also a large matriarch was not too far away.

Anyone know what the re-spawn times are for the Matriarch are by chance? I've now come across her 3 times, killed her then waited a good 20-30 min in the hopes of a nest spawn and get nothing sadly (and that's checking every single known spawn location many times ugg!).

It's definitely not a 2-3 hr re-spawn time on the nests, at least not on my server Lothar it's not because I've tested this extensively. The 2x now I've found the nest I've gone back roughly 2 hrs later just in case and waited over an hour or more and no re-spawns at all ... not for the Matriarch or the nests (and that's making sure there were no others lurking about to grab it whilst I wasn't looking). Does killing the mum trigger the nest spawn like it does for the Darting Hatchling or ... are they supposed to show up together or ...?

Any info/help from anyone else who's tested the spawn times is appreciated thx! :)

Thought I'd do a post laying out the different color variants of the hatchings, having recently completed my collection. I won't get into where each one comes from, as each link has plenty on that.

It's interesting that some of the hatchlings have very defined stripes on their backs, while others have less defined stripes and more like splotches/lines of color.

They are:
Darting Hatchling - Orange with cyan stripes and green eyes
Deviate Hatchling - Purple with cyan stripes and yellow eyes
Gundrak Hatchling - Cyan with dark blue splotches. Yellow eyes.
Leaping Hatchling - Dark Cyan, almost slate with violet splotches and yellow eyes
Obsidian Hatchling - Olive and sort of grey-purple with aqua splotches and yellow eyes (and round pupils, oddly enough)
Ravasaur Hatchling - Lime green with orange stripes and squinting orange eyes
Razormaw Hatchling - Light yellow-orange with blue stripes and green eyes
Razzashi Hatchling - Red/Burnt orange with green splotches. Cyan eyes.
Lashtail Hatchling - as the unique reward from An Old Friend, your 'aka has a slightly unique model. She's a bit bigger than the others, and has a more defined "beak" color. She also has large round eyes with round black pupils, whereas the others have the classic dinosaur thin line pupils. That aside, her colors are almost identical to Razzashi's, but with much larger stripes.

Most of the hatchlings do an idle roar(more of a screech really) animation/sound, with a few exceptions. One wanders around and leaps back to you with a screech when out of range (Leaping), one will tear off running around with a dust trail a la Egbert (Darting), and Lashtail reportedly will play with the bones of your fallen enemies.
(I could have sworn I'd seen a raptor other than Darting do the run but couldn't get him to do it, would like confirmation if anyone sees it)

Working on the Raptor Mount quest killing Ravasaurs nearest to Silithus entrance in UGC. Noticed a sparkly nest at bottom of tree. Looked like any other raptor nest except the sparkles that usually indicate a quest item. Clicked on it out of curiousity and got the BoE pet. Very nice selling companion. Got more than I expected first listing in AH. Cute little bugger, too.
