Drop rates are actually higher...

I got 50% from brutes, 38% from ogres, 29% wyrmhunters, 25% from maulers..

I killed the whole camp and only got 3 drops, quite stupid to wait for respawns.

Occording to the drop rates here the mages and lords almost never drop the scrap metal, but that's where I got all of mine. I wasn't getting any results with the ogres out in hte open, so i headed into the cave and got all seven pieces in 10-12 ogres.

From what I have read in the Quest's comments, the metal is dropped almost 100% inside the cave, and less outside of it.

I have yet to try this yet, as I am heading there now. But, I will try it as soon as I can and get back to you all.

Edit: From what I see, it seems the drop rate is higher in the cave, but not 100%.

Here's what you do:

- Go to Camp Kosh
- Clear the camp ( it's easy to pull one by one ) and hope you have like 3/7
- Go south to the other ogre camp and clear there too

You should have your 7/7 by now. If not, just wait for respawn and clear again.

there is a group of assorted ogres, maybe 5-8 of them, which roam around the barrens but you can find nonroaming dustbelcher ogres at 'camp wurg' (location 30,55). if you are soloing this quest, you may have a better chance of surviving a large group of them by killing them off one at a time. the scrap metal doesn't drop every single time, but it shouldn't take very long to get the 7 required for the quest. there's usually a chest at the camp as well...nice bonus! submitted dustbelcher ogre screenshot for further ref.

Only one warrior didnt drop the metal, all others did

In Classic WoW, Camp Kosh (Very top right of map) has a much higher drop rate than the cave at Dustbelch Grotto (very bottom left of map).
