You have a chance to get one (maybe two) out of the new Bag of Fishing Treasures from the Dalaran fishing dailies.

You may think "wait, only a chance to get just one of those?" but note the duration. Unlike other lures, which last only 10 minutes, this one lasts for a whole hour, perfect for longer grinding, er, relaxing fishing.

Rather fitting for Northrend, Glow Worms are the nicknames for the larvae of certain insects that dwell in cold, dark places to attract flying insects into hanging strands of luminescent mucus for food. This is only one of three +100 lures, and the other two are bothersome to aquire (and last 50 minutes less), so be sure to hang on to these.(##RESPBREAK##)652##DELIM##Neutronimity##DELIM##Edited out outdated links.

neither of those are "hard" to aquire, i bought a stack of them for 1g
edit: oh and quick question, to mister biologist: do glow worms use Bioluminescence, i thought they did, but i was wondering.

Your mileage may vary, but I've noticed that using a Glow Worm instead of any other +100 fishing lure cause rare fish to drop more often. The following have been caught within the use of only 1 Glow Worm, before it expired.

Old Crafty. For comparison, I did not use a Glow Worm for this, and spent 4-5 hours on it. All of the following took 2-3 hours max.

Giant Sewer Rat. I was already at 500 skill fishing even without a lure at all, so I fished for a couple hours without a lure. Then I decided to add a Glow Worm and it was caught 67 casts later.

Old Ironjaw. This one I just started out with a Glow Worm, assuming I'd be there for awhile. 42 casts. I was barely there at all.

Dark Herring. I spent 1 Aquadynamic Fish Attractor and about 8 Sharpened Fish Hooks, having caught close to 600 fish. I put on a glow worm, about 80 casts later I catch it.

I recommend a Glow Worm if you plan to do any heavy duty fishing achievements that you think are going to take awhile. Even if it doesn't help, it still lasts for a whole hour regardless, very nice for long periods of fishing.

I wonder if we'll have a +100/1 hour lure in Cata? If not, I may be doing LK fishing dailies even then.

Engineers will be able to make a +150/10 min lure, but it looks like it may be expensive.

These persist through death, so if you're an Ally trying to fish up Ol' Crafty in Orgrimmar (or Old Ironjaw in Ironforge if you're a Hordie) you won't be wasting your valuable lure when you get ganked. Hooray!
